Very nice image Fred. I agree with previous comments about lightening the foreground. Of the two alternatives shown I prefer Tom's because it retains that Silhouette feel. However as both Alan and Tom have said play around until you get what YOU like. |

I agree with Alan and Fred. This is a nicely exposed and sharp shot but cropping it is a dilemma. I can't see a clear way to separate the elements and get a shot without loosing part of a pelican. I agree with their comments about cropping of the top. |

At first glance I was reminded of a sampan ride I took in Hong Kong and was struck by how much more peaceful and tranquil this setting is by comparison. I like the photo as is just from the feeling it projects.
From the technical point of view I think Tom, Alan and Fred have offered some good advice.
I'm happy that you had such a nice experience Joanne and thanks for sharing part of it.

Thanks for the comments guys, much appreciated. I'd never heard of photoshop or lightroom at the time I made this image so I was curious about what people would think. I agree with you Tom about the shoreline not being quite right but I wanted to keep the 'lie' totally analog and avoid Photoshop. Having said that I did use lightroom to adjust exposure a bit. It was just a bit of fun which its what its all about right? |

Interesting image. Window scenes are hard to get right because of lighting and reflections and angles used to avoid reflections. I think you've captured this scene very nicely. I completely agree with the B&W choice. The brickwork and peeling paint adds a lot to the shot. I wasn't initially distracted by anything but since Alan mentioned it, the bright spot in the mortar below the left side of the sill is noticeable but could easily be fixed. Nice capture Cora. |

I like this picture. I lived in Italy for three years and visited Tuscany several times. I think this picture captures the ambiance of the area very well. It has a nice 'painterly' feel to it. I understand Tom and Fred's comments but personally I like it as originally presented. I'm not exactly sure why I just do. |
