Thanks Alan and Tom, I really appreciate the comments. Good suggestion on the blue halo Tom.

The guy is important to add scale. I'm not sure about the rainbow drawing the eye out of the image. Maybe flipping the image helps that?
Either way it's a great capture. |

I agree with Fred. A tighter crop would help. I find myself distracted by the tree trunks on the right. The exposure is perfect to capture the foreground colors and get the silky smooth water flow. The curvature of the tree branch is a key feature for me so my suggestion id something like a square crop. (see pic) |

Shots of baroque/rococo decoration like this have so much detail it seems to me they need to be blown up to very large size to be appreciated. Otherwise they look too cluttered for my taste and I never quite know where to look.
Photographing scenes like this is very difficult. Like photographing the Grand Canyon, the shot never really captures the full grandeur of the location.
That said, this shot is about as good as anyone could do Tom. Sharp, realistic colors, good exposure etc. A nice memento of your visit.

Nice back story Joanne. From the purely photographic point of view, it would have been nice it the guy would be looking into your camera and even better to get the baby too. But of course the real point is the story. I hope this man continues to do well and do good deeds. |

Hi Cora, I also tried several crops and rotations and, although some might argue for cropping to move the monkey off center, I too like the original best. The only crop I thought was worth mentioning was a very tight one around the monkey. As in last month's image from your river cruise you have a nice sharp image from the boat and in the tight crop the fine hairs of the monkey's coat are well in focus. Nice image, thanks for sharing. |
