Nice shot Fred, I agree with your comments about the line of people. Also interesting detail visible on the dome rock and good sky.
For my taste I might be tempted to darken the sand in the foreground a little but that's not a big thing.
I can imagine this one catching the eye of a travel magazine editor for an article on Yosemite. Good capture. |

Hi JoAnne, This is an interesting venue. Costa Rica is on my bucket list. This a nice shot, sharp and, as you say, interesting contrast between the rocks, mountain and sky. However I think you may want to try taking the exposure down a bit further. On my screen it looks a bit bright and hazy. I tried adjusting it a bit in Adobe Lightroom. I took the brightness of the whole down a bit and added a radial filter to darken the pool in the crater even further. Then I took the saturation down a bit to offset the effect of darkening. I have attached the result. Off course working on a jpg file doesn't give the best result but if you still have the RAW file I think you might want to take a go at some more adjustments. I assume Aperture for post-processing, is similar to Lightroom. Either way, thanks for sharing. |

Hi Tom, nice image which captures the atmosphere of Italian life very nicely. I lived in Italy for three years 1990-1992 before coming to the US. Your photo captures the colorful scenes one can expect in many backstreets. The washing hanging out to dry is still common even in the days of tumble dryers and this adds to the various colors of the surrounding buildings.
The blown out sky is often a hazard in these shots. All I can suggest, if you really want to fix it, is to use Photoshop to select the sky and swap it out for sky from a different shot. But truthfully I like the authenticity of your shot as is. The other elements are so interesting and colorful I'm not at all distracted by the sky. Nice shot and thanks for sharing. |

Hi Cora, Nice capture, especially at 300mm from a boat. Thing is I'd never heard of a caiman so I looked it up. Comparing pictures from Google, I think this is a baby alligator. The long snout and visible teeth are very different to a caiman.
Anyway it's a great capture, very sharp showing lots of detail and a nice depth of field. None of this easy from a boat. Well done. |

Hi Alan, I hope you enjoyed your trip to Scotland.
I like this photo a lot and I completely agree with your choice of the single image. If I'd taken an exposure that turned out something like your HDR shot I would have be using post to get something like your main picture. Definitely a better composition which focuses the eye on the altar and surroundings. Nice capture. |
