I appreciate the idea of removing all the people in this photo and how it draws on the concept of loneliness, but I believe the strength of this photo is because of the people.
Each of the three areas with people shows humanity and how we can be and feel lonely even though we are not alone.
Additionally, if we take the people out then all we have is another landscape photograph. I think we challenge ourselves when we include people and try to show loneliness.

Thank you everyone, for your comments! Thank you too, Hattie, for your edit. I like it and will make note of the highlights in the eye. I too love the color photo. Ted is a cat with personality. He is a Maine Coon variety.

Big hugs to Dude! He must be a Golden Retriever-handsome fellow.
If I could suggest something it would be to see if you could work on his eyes some to darken them ever so slightly in the dark areas. Maybe you could add some sharpening to the eyes in PS. Otherwise, he makes for a great photo on a Christmas card!!
Happy Holidays to you and a very blessed New Year too!

Absolutely amazing shot! I live only a couple hours south of Lake Superior and as soon as I read you took this of the frozen ice I quickly thought of the Edmund Fitzgerald freighter that sank in that big lake once called gitche gumee. I see a ship's mast on a broken cross-shaped beam and artifacts from sunken ships in the lower right. You need to print this and see if you can sell it at the Java Mouse Cafe in Grand Marais!
You knocked this one out of the park, David. Bravo!!
Happy holidays, LuAnn |

I liked the bicyclist too. I agree it brings an element for the viewer to look for things in the photo.
Happy holiday to you too my friend and everyone in this group!

Love this shot, and Christmas is definitely upon us. I too love the lady on the escalator, that was a perfect capture-yes, great street photography!
If I was to add any comment it would be to brighten any area you want to draw the viewers eye to. That could be the foreground elements, the woman in the box, the mannequin, and the tree. Then look again at the photo and see if that gives you some pop and dimension from the background.
Nice work!

I agree with the comments from others on your photo, Pandula. The color photo is my favorite too. The color makes the subjects pop against the green of the leaves. What an awesome capture to find this in nature. What a great opportunity to have taken this shot!

Pandula, what was your focal length when taking this shot and shutter speed?
Can you tell us more about the environment you photographed these lovely monkeys in?

Wow, this is an excellent composition, Paul, with great impact!
I am very drawn to dark and moody photography in general and this one is done very well. I can see that everything you had hoped to capture was captured in this photograph.
Technically, I like the way the light shines on the people-there is definitely a desolate and lonely feel. I like the feel of grit and grudge as this adds to the story you are telling in this environment. I like how you cropped your image using the rule of thirds placement-it is working well. I do not see any distractions that take away from the scene. You have good sharpness throughout the photo.
The only thing missing on this image is a mat and frame. Well done my friend!

Great shot, Oliver! I see this as a type of street photography-intamacy style.
I like the black and white version because it brings out a classic scene and makes the photo more timeless. The tight capture adds to the privacy of the moment. I do not see any elements that would need to be removed. I think the light and the plastic on the seat she is sitting on both contribute to the story. I think the light shining on the tattoo artist is perfect! He has a great expression too.
The only thing I would suggest to enhance an already perfect photo is to play around some with the tonality. I can see a degree of dodging and burning would add depth and dimension to this photograph and make the people pop out away from the background. One last thought, there seems to be a halo on the edge of the pillow in the lower right corner-easy fix.
Well done my friend I love this!!
