Thank you very much for the kind words.
I love water drop photography because I am creating an image, not just taking it. Editing is also of prime interest to me so these images that are not organic give me the widest latitude . Thank you very much for your suggestion. |

Flower arranging is another one of my hobby. There are pin frogs that can be use to anchor the stems and large foliage that might make it easier to get the subjects to "behave " in the way you like . |

Thank you for the info.
When I do butterfly photography I found that f 8 work best for me. It usually will give me good depth of field to get the whole butterfly in ( after I align the camera to the plane of the wings ) while isolating the background. ISO 1600 can be reduce if the aperture is reduced. I usually try a shot and make the exposure 2ev below and then use the flash. Most of the time the butterflies are not moving fast so the flash speed does not need to be high but if the flash power is too strong it might not catch crisp image if there is small movement. The higher the flash power the longer the duration of the flash. That is one reason why I use 4 flashes in 1/128 sec in my waterdrop shots instead of higher power . This is only what work for me . Of course there are lots of other methods and theories . |

My system is by MJKZZ . They have a center in the state .
I almost bought "STOPSHOT" system by Cognisys which is supposed to be very good quality but after paying for USD to CAD conversion, duty and delivery it is just too expensive for me. ( I had been thinking of the multiple valves system right from the start ) .
If you are interested, ebook from Corrie White will save you a lot of time. (around $20 ) I did not have any lead and had wasted many years before I find what is feasible for me...partly because I use mirrorless cameras so that I cannot use the system from England. The system I have now is more promising anyway .
Miops did not work well for me. |

There are many many fields of macro photography and I am trying different area bit by bit.
I know that most friends do not have water drop systems and cannot comment on how to make the drops.
However, you can all help me with composition and other artistic veiws.
I had seen Charles's gorgeous water-drop gallery and know that I shall really benefit from his help.
Also like to use this group to learn more kinds of macro photography together.
Being a front line health care professional I had been busy but hope to have more time to learn . |

Thank you very much , Peter. My waterdrop system allow me to adjust water drop size and the time delay of the flash firing.
With additive to the liquid we can try to get multiple drops and multiple valves can produce different colors and combinations.
I think that the manual system will work well for 2 drops but 3 drops or more will be even harder. I am just at the ground level of waterdrop Arts and need time and experiments to get more complicated results. However, I think that the drops can create arts regardless of the difficulty of the set up and plan to enjoy them every step of the way. |

Love the crisp body of one of the butterflies. The distance of the background that create clear separation is wonderful too. I like insect photography myself very much and really enjoy this image. Wonder what your aperture and flash power is ? |

Very artistic image.
I was at macro workshops twice with this kind of frozen subject inside and also visited an ice house that produce these frozen cubes. They use a special procedure to get rid of air bubbles so that the images are more see through but this image let us see the bloom behind a veil of bubbles..mysterious ! ! ! |

Very interesting subject that show us something we see everyday in a different perspective . The contrast of the metal and fabric really come through . The center knob is in both 3rd lines so the composition is good. Nit picking here : if more slices can be done may be the fuzziness of the knob edge will be more in focus ?
I really enjoy the textures in this image. |

Thanks David.
We usually like to have the catch-lights at 2 or 11 o'clock position but the lighting used dictate what we get.
In posing, we usually learn what we should avoid, then let our talents ( models ) get into their most natural position. |

Nice story.
I agree with Arne's suggestion in cropping.
If the objuctive is to keep the face and bottle as big as possible, then cutting the left side and the bottom of the sweater will give to feeling of more room in front of the child .
There is nothing wrong with non-standard size crop until you are printing the image..even then there are ways to around it.
In our competition courses we were told that non-standard crop actually draw attention to the image.
Blue and aqua are nice colors because they can be converted to many many different tones in monochrome .

Great action shot .
I agree with David regarding the cropping.
I always leave more room for the action or faces to move into.
About the speed, it really depends on whether you want the bat to be sharp and crisp. Sometimes a little movement is nice too. |

Wonderful both in color and monochrome.
I feel that the eyes, fur and head stand out a bit more in the color version.
Very nicely done. |
