Like this image and the blurring of the top half very much.
I was proud of my first focus stacked image last year ( using 120 imgage ). However, one of the masters in a group that I work in..who is very friendly to me....said....I am sorry, this look like a specimen piece to me. Since then, I was not really keen in making a macro image 100% in focus.
Great job. I am really glad that this image had open a very important topic for us. |

Thank you everybody for your nice comment.
This is indeed a stacked focus image because I use about 10 images and edit them in Photoshop.
The reason why it does not seems to have sharp focus is because the noodles are round so there is no sharp plane that can be seen,
I thought that seeing the flour, the diagonal strand and the curves is good enough but I guess not. |

Love this portrait of real life.
The rust, blue dots and grey lines add a sense of realism which should be present when we look at real thing the are in use.

Hi Elaine,
Love the sharp focus and detail .
I had been told about cutting subjects half way instead of showing the whole subject. The tangent causes tensions .
With the wonderful nice colors in the necklace, I would have love to see it in a solid background such as black .
Really enjoy this nice image |

Thank you very much for all you great comments.
I think it all come back to the question:
How far do you let your black or your white go ?
If the scorpion go darker then the little texture it has will be lost.
The white in the plank of wood is approaching getting blown out.
I guess selective dodge and burn would be my next option.
Thank you very much. |

Lovely image that show detail in all ranges of tones.
I like the monochrome version much better too.
Star effects usually appears at aperture 16 or higher.
It is wonderful to see some at f5 . |

What a lovely inmage that lead us from the front to the backe with great depth of field. All the multiple straight lines and the rows of trees that make me think of concentric patterns are very intriguing to me.
Horizontal texture on the tree trunks contast nicely with the verticle lines of the tree.
The monochrome conversion really show the details well.
Great jub ! ! ! |

Hi Alicia, Welcome to the group.
Sorry that I had been away so am very late in looking these images.
I like the simplified crop of Arne.
Less is really more in lots of cases.
A focal point that attract our eyes are important.
Love the beautiful winter scene. |

Hi Bill, Lovely image.
Like the composition and agree that the front would be nicer to be darker. The horizon in the original image seems straight to me. May be if you zoom into the small section of water on the upper far right before straightening will yield a different result for the B&W .
Usually I only sharpen the edges using either mask in Lightroom or use High pass in PhotoShop. Sharpening sky and cloud sometimes causes problems. Another suggestion is to decrease noise in the sky ? |
