The incoming gannet is caught in a dramatic pose. Eye contact is great, and the blue sky which most times is not ideal, works with the gannet's coloring, the warm yellow to the cool blue. I would suggest not crowding the frame edges though. Give this great action some room. |

I can see why you were drawn to the scene. It has nice framing, a focal point in the lone tree, mood and feeling, but the busyness of the foreground is lessening the impact. |

Interesting textural application. In my opinion, I happen to like the color version more. It has a wonderful contrast of warm and cool colors. I do like the removal of the leaf behind crossing the pineapple. |

Nicely composed, interesting mid ground in the red twigs, great eye contact, and a smooth pleasing background. My only concern and it happens with many of your shots, is sharpness of the target. The target is the eyes and they are a bit soft. |

Nice grouping. Usually in a tight grouping, or macro presentation, I don't like to have sharpness throughout. Usually one subject is the main focus and the others have some degree of blur. This gives an artful composition. Since this was shot at a distance, I would have looked for a lower POV to give a more intimate look and unique composition. Plus a low angle of view would have likely given you a different and possibly better background. |

Great lead room on the subject. Good brightness around the face and target. Nice foreground, mid ground and background separation. My eye goes right to the severe shadowing of the horns on the back though. The left foreleg is blurred, yet does not bother me as it indicates movement and direction. |

Very well done. Sharp, exposed well, good subject separation, and nice action. Setting look good. My only suggestion would be to have more lead room. They are headed to the right, have just a bit more space in that direction. |

Artistic shot. The marigold is quite tight to the right edge since it faces in that direction, but it is framed beautifully by the colors around it. |

I think it is soft due to the teleconverter and being hand held. It is a nice capture, but a difficult one at effective 800mm hand held. Rule of thumb, 800mm minimum of 1/800 sec. Yes, having vibration reduction is nice, but does not always fix an image every time. I never used a 200mm with a 2.0 so not really sure that is the issue, just guessing. |
