Thank you. Could easily clone it out. I guess I like it more the way the bird is perched. I don't really understand it as distracting. If the eye goes there first, it is missing the bigger picture. I would suppose the swamp in that context is distracting too since it is not pretty. |

I don't mind the dead branch perch, it is typical of the habitat. The feet are in the swampy water and the branch is not hiding them, but supporting the egret, underwater. I think it would look more odd without the branch where the feet are resting. I understand your saying it is a distraction, maybe it would be better to wait for a better position and resulting image. |

The water had early morning sun just hitting it. I warmed the image as I remembed the scene. |

Thank you. An image I submitted previously with a wood duck having a black background (exiting a drainage pipe) the suggestion was the black background was not adding to the image and was told to crop it. It was just a hair more than what is in this image. I believe this is very subjective rather than by a rule of composition. I do have the egret as pure white, as what came out of the camera. The sun hitting the swampy water made me decide to warm up the egret. I will add this image and to see the difference if I get a chance. |

I appreciate the bird in its habitat, and would even like to see a bit more. The background is a bit distracting, especially that around the bird's head. With f6.3, you must have tried to blur it out some. |

A nice pose of the displaying egret in mating colors. the dark background is very appealing and makes a great frame drawing focus on the bird. |

A nice capture to get this duck, especially at a lower perspective. I would like top see the eye much sharper and the bird not centered. Vignetting would help at top and bottom, as would some blur both top and bottom. There is not much detail in the white feathers and the duck looks soft in my opinion. |

I feel this image needs greater tonal values between white and black, more contrast. It appears soft on my computer as well. While it looks as if the maker wanted the soft, smooth waterfall, it seems as if it is somewhere in between throughout the image. The POV is nice as is framing along the edges. |
