I do like the texture, but at first it looked like it was grain in the image. I was not expecting a texture on a wildlife shot. I am assuming this is allowed in Camera Clubs. |

A nice behavior shot. I assume weavers enter the nest from below. I would like to see a bit more of the nest though. In other wildlife groups I am in, they encourage more breathing room in the image around the subject. I am finding that quite different in Camera clubs though. |

Nice detail in the foreground. It leads you into the image. I do have a question about what appears to be some form of reddish art on the left hand side of the image. It draws the eye, yet is too blurry to make out. I think it is distracting since it cannot be identified. |

The colors and shadowing are nice, but some areas do appear quite dark on my iPad Pro. It is much different than others I have seen. |

Yes, more room in front of where the bird is heading. The vignette seems fine and the bird is sharp. |

Thanks Rob for your comment, sorry I could not get more detail on that cow. I was not close enough to cut through the fog and it really was rather dark. When you see wildlife, unfortunately we can't control the weather and lighting conditions. I did add another image where I created more fog. That lightened up the entire image, but I could not pull information that was not in the original camera shot. I have tones of photos of the elk, and the daylight images show good detail. Maybe I will post one next month. |

Thank you, Candy. It really is not possible to get leg detail unless right in front of the elk and having no fog which softens the whole subject. They have black, smooth fur legs, and with no light to speak of on the legs, since it was coming up behind the elk, no detail can be recovered that was not there to begin with. It is a Raw image. I did mention that the story in the image could not be told in one image. Here is an image if it posts where I added fog. Maybe it tells the weather story a bit better. |

Thank you for the comments Brenda and Mervyn, this was taken before the sun rose in the early morning in the thick fog. While lightening, shadow recovery, sharpening and clarity would enhance a daylight image where these things would occur naturally, the mood and feeling of this time of day and weather condition would be lost in my opinion. I could have edited to enhance the foggy feel which might have made the image read better to intent. It was suggested in a pro wildlife critique group that I remove the cow since she is faced in the opposite direction. Funny though, she was receptive to his advances and allowed the bull announcing his joy to the competition to mount her right after this image. Unfortunately, they did this deed both facing away from the camera. That is a lot of story impossible to convey in this image though. |
