Thanks for your thoughts and comments Debbie. Many photos both IR and normal colour were taken on this trip. |

Congratulations on a superb image Phu. I've always wanted to try my hand at processing an IR image to keep the blue sky and any reflections on a water surface. You've inspired me, watch this space. |

A great interior shot Nelson. Good control of the difference in the external and internal lighting, while maintaining good details both inside and outside. |

A strong image Stuart. I fully agree with Debbie, great location and composition, however the bottom half of this image appears to be suffering. |

One of your best images so far Tatu. All the details come together very well, resulting in this very strong image. |

I love this image Debbie. Good use of the path and trees to provide depth. You've maintained great detail in the tree trunks and the foliage across the top show infrared characteristics very well. Congratulations. |

You know me too well Sherry and have hit all nails on their heads. Just a glimpse in a moment of Sydney "now". A pity it's impossible for me to get an image from this location for the "then", but there are plenty of other locations around Sydney that will do that. Stay tuned....... |

Thanks for your thoughts and comments Butch. There is no real hero in this one. I was just trying to capture and show a moment in the life of our Circular Quay. as you said a piece of travel documentation. |

A brilliant image Gary. I understand what Butch is saying and understand where he's coming from, but I have no problem at all with your image as presented. It all comes down to personal thinking and taste. You've done very well with this one Gary, congratulations. |

This is a very strong image Ray, well done. I do agree with Butch about that vertical stick / plant thing in the center bottom, it is a huge distraction. But I also like your composition as posted because the amount of grass on the bottom gives a nice base to this image, while Butch's version doesn't have such a solid base. So, if I was to go there, would I be able to walk into this scene, pick up that distracting item and drop it 6 feet behind the camera? Distraction gone and still a good solid base. But you were there and I wasn't. Switching to B&W here is a great way to go. Show us some more like this one please. |

A great image Butch and well presented in square format. Yes, a sunrise or sunset sky changes while you're looking at it. You've captured this one beautifully, especially after you were out chasing monsoon storms. My initial thought was "Was that purple really in the sky?" But as I look at the "whole" image, I'm thinking it was. Very well done. |

Very well done Sherry, I love your composition and use of foreground and background to provide depth is first rate. F22 has produced a great sunburst, that's just magical !!! Some people argue (and always will) wasted space vs negative space. As in all our photography, that is a personal and subjective topic, the only person you have to please is yourself. And you should be very pleased with this one. Since you asked, those two little jet streams in the center of the sky, just below the sunburst, are they really necessary, or is this image any weaker if you take them out? You did ask. |

Thanks for your comments Henriette. My ND kit includes 3; 6; 10 & 15 stop filters. From memory I used the 10 plus the 3 stop filters together. Any longer blew the exposure time to something like 15 minutes, which in my mind was too long for this scene, and I didn't want the clouds to move much more than they have here. It's all a matter of personal taste. |

Thanks for your thoughts and comments Trey. Local adjustments such as dodging and burning are on my list of things to learn over coming weeks. |

Thanks for your comments Gordon. I'm still having a load of fun with ND filters and like to use them when I get the chance. You ask about the 6 minutes. Just going down 1 stop with the ND's halved the time to 3 minutes, and the movement I wanted in the clouds at that moment just wasn't there. As I wanted them to have some movement, 6 minutes it was. Taken very early in the morning while out 20 mtr, 45 ton houseboat was still moored to the opposite side of the river, there wasn't any movement and thankfully no wind. |

Thanks for your comments Sanford. You've forced me to go back into lightroom and have a look at horizon. As it's a riverbank more than a horizon, I initially thought it was perspective, but I stand corrected, it was a little off. Thanks for pointing that out. And I'm not sure about that magenta, it was just there. |

A superb image Gordon. Great use of foreground, middle ground and background to show depth in this scene. Your use of the fog and shadows bring an element into this, as only nature can provide. As you mention, we just need to be there and wait for what we consider to be the optimum moment. Some people (usually camera club judges) would say the farm house is too centered vertically, but I think you've placed it perfectly in the frame. |

A really great infrared image Henriette. Well seen, composed and processed. You imply it was taken while on a boat ride on the river, so a slower shutter speed from a moving platform can sometimes be a bit risky, but you've done very well here. Gordon does raise a very good point and question. I will let you answer, but my guess is, on such a trip I would take a good number of photos. Maybe the difference in your main and original images might be something as simple as a slip of the thumbnail. |

A great use of colours Trey, bringing lots of impact. Such a delicate subject as a flower usually has a sense of romance to it, which is always appealing. Your composition having the second bloom out of focus in the background is very strong, particularly as it echoes the petals in the main flower. Your stacking has brought out the sharpness of everything that is important in this one. |

A great action shot Jay. Everything is sharp where it need to be, you captured "the moment", with all eyes and attention focused on the ball, to see where it is about to go. Very well cropped to bring our attention to where you want it to be. Very well done indeed. |

Congratulations Sanford. Well seen, captured, processed and presented. You have definitely retained the mood of this image and used the lighting to great advantage. While I don't mind the object in the middle as I would expect to see things like that in these situations and locations, I also don't think it detracts from the effectiveness of this image. But I am glad you removed that other item on the counter "chip container? or would you call them fries?" That really did have to go. |
