A fine image of a historic area Tatu. Lots to see and examine in this scene, but I would like to see the foreground with some more light on it. Great use of the vertical format. |

Well done Lauren. Down here we call this a photographer's photo!!! How many people have and still do, see this and then just keep on walking? It can also play with your head. The rail on the right tells me the ramp is going up, until I get to the top and see the flooring! Then, if you rotate it 90 degrees anti-clockwise I'm seeing a wall with some roof formwork! Which leads me to say "No, I have NOT been drinking" and also ask "Be honest now, how many just turned their head or laptop to the side?" We can see things differently down here, that's why we're called Down Under. |

"A bit different for us"? That's an understatement Nelson. Was your club meeting that night so boring that you found the ceiling lights more interesting? (Only joking).
An interesting and intriguing image, with the ability to hold our attention and cause our eyes to roam around quite a few times. Well done. |

A fine scene Stuart. I acknowledge you mention that you took it with your iphone and did your processing in Photoshop. I would like you to take us closer to the water's edge, by cropping off at least another 50% of the foreground stones. I don't think that would weaken this image at all. |

A well composed scene Phu. I initially thought you'd gone a little heavy with the sky, until I read that you used a Super Blue Infrared filter. The sky still is a little strong for me, but that is just my personal opinion and thought. As long as you are happy with your image, that's really all that matters. |

Very strong composition here Debbie, where the eye just follows the edge of the water around to the bridge. Good IR effect in the foliage and their reflections on the water really add to this image. |

I enjoy all the different layers you've captured here Gary. They all contribute to the depth of the scene and the colours, or lack thereof, help show the barrenness of this area. Very well done. |

A fine image Larry. Your processing and presentation helps bring the feeling that you want for this one. Me personally, I sometimes have trouble getting my eyes over a fair amount of blurred or out of focus foreground and into the image itself. A bit like climbing over a visual fence. Your have enough room with this one to crop in on all 4 sides, and not loose anything of importance, thus your image wouldn't be weakened in anyway. But please remember, that's just me. You're free to present your images exactly how you want to. |

Your sunset is a timeless image Dave. Some could say a little minimalistic with little detail, but that can also bring a level of mood into the scene. The pano format suits it well.
Your alternate original is priceless!!! Our photography is meant to have an element of fun in it, so why not. All I can say is "Beam me up Scotty". |

A beautiful sunrise Sherry. Well worth getting up for and having a run around looking for your preferred shot. You've used the elements to good advantage, with foreground, midground and background to bring good depth into this scene. The colours are well rendered and good composition all round. Congratulations. Time for you to go on another trip. |

A simply superb image Ray. Well composed, lit and the time of capture was excellent, showing either the end of a day, or the beginning of another day. That delicate capture of the light in the sky is superb. And going to B&W evens out the light on the hoodoo wonderfully. Congratulations on a stunning B&W. |

A good strong Image Butch. The sunrise colours in the sky are well rendered and you've used the scene before you well to bring good depth by using the sweep of the cliff face. I note that you used the lens to its widest extreme, but I keep thinking I'd like to see those foreground rock formations go just a little further to the right, rather than stop basically half way along the bottom edge. I also fully understand that you were there and I wasn't, so I have no idea of what was around you at that time. I'm just thinking out loud and wishing there was just a little touch more there. But still a very strong image and one to be pleased with. |

Thanks for your thoughts Henriette. During this outing with a friend I wanted, as I always do, is come home with a good roll of film taken. That means at least 36 usable digital images. We stayed at this location for 10 minutes or so, and got a good collection of images, many people walking left to right, many walking right to left and then they come from both directions and merge together in the middle. All are not too bad, but I like this solitary gut one his own, to me it asks more questions than the crowds. |

Thanks for your comments and alternate version Trey. I can be a difficult old character sometimes (quite often actually, so I'm told) and I like to challenge others with their photography, both in their image making and also their critiquing. As I mentioned myself with this one and also to Gordon, we all see things differently. I believe that's what makes our craft of photography so good. While I acknowledge your thoughts regarding the dark line coming from the top right corner, I personally prefer to show more of the ceiling, to help show the vastness of this area and also make the passerby seem that little bit smaller. As I say to club members "Nobody is right and nobody is wrong." |

Thanks for your poetic thoughts and comments Gordon. They are appreciated as much as Sanford's. In my humble opinion and way of thinking down here, it's sometimes good to look "into" an image every now and then, rather than just the usual technical details and methodology. We all see things differently and read different stories into images. Keep up with your poetry. |

A great image Henriette. Good composition and construction of the overall scene. The amount of movement in the water is good and the use of a vignette, if you applied one also draws our attention into the falls themselves. |

This is an interesting image Rusty. There's a visual tension between the shadowed foreground and the bright area of reflection in the center. That makes me see a competition within the image and not being sure want you want the viewer to see as your main subject matter. Having said that, the exposure controlling the difference in contrast is well handled. |

Just so that our group members realize, there were a few issues between Sanford and myself getting his images this month. So I will comment on this one as it is. While it is full of autumn colours and the bridge implies an oriental feeling to the scene, I'm searching all around the frame looking for a specific subject or point of interest to settle on. |

A great studio portrait Gordon. Your processing to result in your final image is first rate, as always. And thanks for the tip on the liquify tool, I'll have to remember to try that. Switching to B&W is a good thing as it takes the dominant red off the gloves and waist band and forces our attention onto him. I trust that quite a number of images were taken in that session, because I'm sure one of him wearing his belt would not have looked out of place. I would also like to see another portrait, but maybe with him showing a little more aggression towards us as viewers, or competitors. |

An image with good exposure Jay. While your processing and cropping have increased our attention on the break wall, I feel it could use another element somewhere. Just to bring another point of interest into this scene. |

Another strong image from your barn collection Trey. I will always maintain that it's all about the final image, so when you or anyone else adds a sky, I personally don't mind, as long as it suits the image and is an alternative sky that you took yourself. Your composition is very good, with the barn being balanced by the two trees on the right and the sky/ground ration also supports this image. Congratulations on a great image. |

Congratulations on a superb image Gwen. I respectfully disagree with you about your shutter speed being too high, you've captured the bird beautifully. What would we change ??? I mean this in the most polite way and Sherry knows my aversion to dust spots, simply because they are an
un-necessary blemish on an image. A couple near the right edge just around the bird's head height. My main concerns are the spot on the bird's neck in the reflection, because it's not evident on the actual bird, and that gap in it's leg reflection. I hope you take these thoughts in the manner they are offered because this image deserves to be blemish free. Yes Sherry, I shall now go back and sit in the corner. |
