Thanks for your comments Lauren. Sadly, I don't have any images taken from this position before the flood. |

Thanks for your comments Debbie. I really can't remember now if I sent the original to Nelson or not, but no, it hasn't been cropped. |

A great series of photos Lauren. When they are all completed and presented together as a portfolio, they will look good as a collection. |

Well captured Nelson. Great contrast, sharpness and texture. Good exposure, given the front of this cabin was in shadow at the time of capture. |

A great story telling image Tatu. While I acknowledge Debbie and Lauren's comments, I must remember that you are there in Finland, and I am on the other side of the world in Australia. You know all about the location there and I know absolutely nothing about it, so I must consider the image as you have presented it. You have done very well with the composition and use of the elements before you. Well done. |

A great image Debbie. Some details such as the road surface, trees and poles on the right hand side, lead me to think a change of position / angle has happened here, but that is such a minor detail. I love your presentation of this in colour IR. Great composition and use of the elements in this scene. Congratulations on a great image. |

Well done Phu, a great capture. Like Lauren, I initially though why IR? That's just because I'm very used to seeing landscapes in IR, where the effect is the greatest, particularly in foliage. A friend of mine wants to go into our subway system and shoot some IR photos there. I asked him why IR? His answer was "IR is just another form of B&W. Thinking about it, he's very right. Which brings me back to your image here, as you said to Lauren "Why not?" This is a great image, well worth aiming for. I do agree with Debbie though, that extraneous grass at the back of the bird, below its wing is not beneficial or important to the image and raises more concerns than is necessary. I think it should go. |

Thanks for your comments Sherry. This image "might" make it into the book, in the Now section. As the red car and buses show some of the hustle and bustle of our city, they would stay. Just wait until you see the trams going down the streets !!!! |

A great image Gary, you've achieved everything you set out to do. As Butch said, technically and compositionally spot on. Congratulations. |

Congratulations on a great rainbow Sherry. I don't know how your rainbows behave, but down here they disappear while you're looking at them, they're very camera shy!!! The whole scene says peace, calm and tranquility to me and you have presented it very well indeed. |

You shouldn't hesitate about submitting any image Butch, this group is not a competitive environment. This is a strong image of a strong subject and you got the best out of your equipment for this subject. Good composition showing your intent of man-made vs nature's power. You placed the pole well in the frame, while the lightning bolt went where-ever it wanted. And I'm sure more than one photo was taken. But I do have a question, why b&w? Personally, I would like to see some colour in the sky. |

A superb seascape Ray, well captured at the right time of day, with the light coming through the arch. All elements in this image are great, but I particularly like the sky and the clouds. I have only one question and minor concern, what's that round thing just to the left of the arch, just above the water level? Is it essential to the image? I personally, find it a distraction and once seen I can't stop looking at it. But just a minor detail. |

Congratulations on a great pano Dave. It shows the vastness of the Grand Canyon, along with its depth and colours in the rock layers. You've included the right amount of sky, in my mind, to show us the horizon. |

Thanks for your comments Trey. As you know, nature does what nature does. When a wind blows clouds, it also blows trees. I was reluctant to crop them out, as I wanted to keep the timber beneath them in the frame. Also, there was no where else I could set up this shot from. It is what it is, and we get what we get. |

Thanks for your comments Sanford. The trees on the right are being blown around by the same wind that is sending the clouds across the sky. |

An image with a very strong story Sanford. There's absolutely no doubt what's happening here. Your camera settings tell me that you had a good think about what you wanted to capture, before the action began. Good preparation usually results in a good final image. Congratulations on a great image. |

First off Jay, there are no "rules" in photography, only "guidelines". Your photography is exactly that "your" photography. So feel free to use some guidelines, but don't let them rule and dictate your photography. Great use of foreground, midground and background bring good depth to this image and the colours all tie in together well, giving the impression they are accurate. As for the yoga class all I can say is "Fair Dinkum", (that's aussie speak for Oh My Gosh), what are they thinking way out there? |

All the usual photographic comments apply to this image Gordon. Good balance of the boat and the windmill, just enough water in the foreground to provide the sail's reflection, good time of day and use of side lighting. I like the warmth of the overall scene, but I particularly like the definition and details you have kept in the clouds. Congratulations on another outstanding image. I look forward to seeing what you get from your visit there in winter. |
