35 Jun 25 Comment This is a very strong image Lauren, well seen and processed. You ask for our thoughts about the level of contrast you've applied. In my opinion, it's absolutely great. It emphasizes the harshness or grundgyness (if there's such a word) of the shipwreck's remains. My only minor concern was that the sand in the very bottom also went along for the contrast ride. To me it competes with the shipwreck for the viewer's attention. I hope you don't mind my playing with your image and just removing that bottom area of sand to leave the good ship Peter Iredale taking full and center stage. I didn't mean it to become a pano, it just happened that wat because I didn't want to touch or loose any of the sky. Jun 21st
35 Jun 25 Comment Have a nice summer !!!! Really Tatu, it's the middle of winter down here and my fingers freeze every time I set foot outside. I know our winters would be nothing like yours as we don't get any snow here in Sydney, but we still prefer our summers.
Anyway, to your image, while it is a great view from your cabin window, I find my eyes wander around looking for something definite to settle on. Perhaps a tighter crop, maybe even a square image of the lower right could concentrate our attention more.

35 Jun 25 Comment The composition of this scene is very good Stuart. I agree with Lauren in that I would like to see the trees on either side somewhat brighter. Other than that, a very strong image. Jun 21st
35 Jun 25 Comment Well seen, well taken, well processed and well presented Nelson. Yes, I agree with Lauren, You've done a great job removing all those distractions. I also like the slight tone you've applied. Very well done indeed. Jun 21st

73 Jun 25 Comment I don't mind the image as you've presented it Gary, but I see Butch's option as an example of an image within an image. While you like the green in the trees, I also like to oxide in the water, so I would keep it in colour. This time anyway. Jun 21st
73 Jun 25 Comment Great work Butch. Simple is often the best. And the long lens compresses the scene beautifully. Jun 21st
73 Jun 25 Comment Being a certified rebel down here, I love panos. The way the hills just keep on going into the distance on the left side is a strong feature here. Very well done. May I ask please, how many images in the stitch? Jun 21st
73 Jun 25 Comment A stunning image Sherry. Great use of the elements before you at the time. The balance of colours of the rocks bottom left and the sunlight cloud top right is a very strong detail here. I'm very sorry that my namesake hurricane caused such damage, but I personally had nothing to do with that. Jun 21st
73 Jun 25 Comment Another superb image Peter. Your use of the wildflowers in the foreground and the way you've handled the lighting is first rate. Compositionally, you have used the elements before you just right. Congratulations. Jun 21st
73 Jun 25 Reply Thanks for your comments Butch. One must always be patient when in at Vivid. For me, the water reflections play a big part, that's why I like to include an appropriate amount of water. The size of Sydney as a city will rival many of your cities in the US and we have our healthy share of harbour traffic, particularly ferries constantly on the go. So the moral is to just be patient and wait, because as soon as the Opera House looks good, a ferry will just blot out enough and become a right royal pain. Luckily the lights are on a loop that lasts about 15 minutes, then repeats itself. As in all forms of photography, everything comes to those who wait. Jun 20th
73 Jun 25 Reply Thanks for your comments Sherry. I was on a mission this year with vivid. Rather than going with a zoom, I chose a nice fast 50mm prime lens so I could try my best to stop the movement of the light displays. Details were; Nikon D810; Nikon 50mm prime lens; ISO 2000; F2 and 1/30. That shutter speed is still pretty slow, but I didn't want to go too high with the ISO and have an issue with noise. Jun 20th

76 Jun 25 Reply Thanks for your visit and comments Sherry. If you ever make it down here, don't forget to pack your camera gear. Jun 20th
76 Jun 25 Reply Thanks for your comments Sanford, and yes, even a fountain in a city park is someone else's artwork. Jun 20th
76 Jun 25 Comment It's all about the final image and everything you've done works very well. A great story telling image with lots of mood and shows that even birds have to cope with bad weather (harder than we have to actually). This would look good anywhere, in a home, in a gallery and in a book. Congratulations Gordon on a superb image. Jun 20th
76 Jun 25 Comment A superb image Trey. Action and story plus. You mention your positioning of yourself, the chosen equipment and the anticipation of "the moment". That speaks of and underlines the need for preparation and knowledge of the sport you are photographing. Congratulations on a great final image. Jun 20th
76 Jun 25 Comment A great portrait Sanford. Full of colour and tells the story of the location. Well composed and with her showing some of her character. Not much processing is required if you get it right at the time of capture. Jun 20th
76 Jun 25 Comment A great image Jay. Don't be too hard on yourself about the fisherman's head. When you are photographing from a floating platform and your subject is also moving, you are at the mercy of the water surface. As far as your processing is concerned, the final crop is good, if you want to show the fisherman in silhouette that's good, but personally, I would like to see just a touch more lightness in the water. But still a great image Jay, very well done. Jun 20th
76 Jun 25 Comment I really enjoy this image Henriette. As mentioned many times in the past, our photography is a very diverse craft or art form. Documentary showing the world as we see it, or creative where we can spread our artistic wings. This is the type of image I see in public spaces or waiting rooms of professional people. Calming and designed with an artistic mind and angle to them. In my opinion, your processing is spot on. Great balance of colours, composition and movement. Congratulations on a great image.
