35 Dec 24 Reply Thanks for your comments Lauren. This scene and some others taken this day captured my IR imagination. I enjoy how in IR images, light green foliage goes white and a blue sky goes black. These features, in my mind, take IR away from normal B&W. I also like the juxtaposition between the old and new architecture styles. While I acknowledge your thoughts about removing the centre tree section, but my processing skills are not up to that level. I'll try to improve my skills. Dec 19th
35 Dec 24 Comment A bright and punchy image Lauren. Great exposure and content give us plenty to wander around and see here. The depth and sharpness are excellent and unless you had mentioned it, I would have never known it was taken through glass. Dec 11th
35 Dec 24 Comment A very strong image Tatu. Plenty to look at showing this historic location. I'm sure there are many stories these buildings could tell. Dec 11th
35 Dec 24 Comment A fine image Stuart. Well seen and good use of the fence to help us walk into this scene. Dec 11th
35 Dec 24 Comment A great colour IR image Nelson. Well composed and good use of the elements in the scene. Also good processing to remove the extraneous and un-necessary distractions. Dec 11th

73 Dec 24 Reply Thanks for your comments. My wife tells me it's time we put some new photos on our walls. This just might be the first new one to go up. Dec 19th
73 Dec 24 Reply Thanks for your comments Butch, much appreciated. Dec 11th
73 Dec 24 Comment A good image Gary and well worth taking. Were you holding your camera straight at the time of capture, or did you aim down or up a little? As you probably well know, that will affect the verticals in any image. As far as cropping is concerned, I always ask myself "Will it detract from, or weaken the image if I remove this element?" Then see how you feel about the resultant image. It's a very personal thing and you will always have some people who say "You should have" while others will say "You shouldn't have". My processing skills are not the strongest at all, but I've had a go at straightening your verticals, just a touch on the right side in PS. Dec 11th
73 Dec 24 Comment A really strong image. Well suited to the pano format, which is one of my favorite formats. Just enough foreground to give the image a strong base to sit on and the "sunbathers" give a great story. My only concern is that I'm seeing some banding in the sky, but that could just be my monitor. Dec 11th
73 Dec 24 Comment Congratulations on a very strong image Butch. Crazy that light painting isn't allowed there anymore, but maybe the park service and other authorities have had a few too many reports of strange lights in the middle of nowhere, a bit like ET phoning home. Just enough painting and processing in this one. The Milky Way and rock/ground are well balanced and don't over power each other. Composition of the elements is also very good. Dec 11th
73 Dec 24 Comment Welcome to group 73 Ahmed. Congratulations on a great introductory image to our group. Taking images when the photographer is on a moving platform such as a bus or train is always a challenge, because one can't re-shoot it. This image has good depth and the colour of the clouds tell me that some bad weather may be approaching, which adds to the story. Very well done in what could have been trying conditions. Dec 11th
73 Dec 24 Comment A great image Sherry. Wonderful composition, using foreground and background elements to bring good depth into the scene. Sound processing to bring us this final image. Thanks for revisiting this one for us. Dec 11th

76 Dec 24 Reply I was just pointing out that when there is something in an image that can be read, many viewer's eyes try to do just that, whether it is the main subject matter of the image or not. Dec 22nd
76 Dec 24 Reply Thanks for your comments Trey. My processing skills will increase in the new year. Dec 22nd
76 Dec 24 Reply Thanks for your comments Sanford. I want to improve my processing skills with local adjustments next year. Dec 22nd
76 Dec 24 Reply What I meant Trey was the writing on the number plates is backwards. We often hear that if there is some writing in an image, we automatically focus in on it and read it. Dec 19th
76 Dec 24 Reply No problem Gordon, you and the ladies can enjoy two months off.
Thanks for your comments. This location, while interesting, is also very difficult and challenging. There are more mangroves to the right, just out of frame. When they're included, this boat and its mangroves blend into the background and become quite hard to see. It's also very contrasty, being an absolute huge difference between highlights and shadows. There's also many distractions out of the frame to the left. So thinking about it now, I will approach it like a friend of mine does. I'll go there again in the coming months and take two separate images, one exposed for the highlights and one exposed for the shadows, then blend the two images together. Watch this space.

76 Dec 24 Comment This is a very interesting and successful image Trey. It's one of those images that a viewer cannot simply just walk past, without pausing to look closely into. Your processing from original to final is very well done. Can I ask a question on a very small detail please? In your club contest, were there any comments on the number plates on the cars? Dec 11th
76 Dec 24 Comment A fine image Sanford, taken under what could be difficult conditions. I like the way you have exposed to maintain the stars in the sky above the tree line. But I have a couple of questions please. Is there any time available, even just 30 seconds, when there are no people on that pathway? Were you able to take just a couple of steps to your right, so that stand/lectern could be removed from the bottom left corner? Dec 11th
76 Dec 24 Comment Congratulations on a great final image Jay. I like your technique to get camera position, I've used the same many times. Your processing has provided great colour and your cropping has given us all the information we need. A great story telling image. Dec 11th
