Thank you for your comments Sherry. It's always fun to get away for a weekend with photographic friends. We all share a common passion and often take very similar images but from different viewpoints with different points of interest. Bouncing ideas off each other is always good, particularly over a glass of wine. |

Thanks for your comments Barbara, I did want to keep that part of the water in the top right to show where the falls went to. I'm thinking about going back there in the not too distant future and reshooting it, but stitching a couple of images together to show more of this view. |

Congratulations on a wonderful image Gary. Great time of day, muted colours and composition. My only concern, and it is so minor, but now that I've seen it, I can't tear my eyes away from it. On the waterline near the right edge is a small blue "thing". I only comment on this so you can take away a distracting element. I know fully well that when we are concentrating on an image as a whole, we can often miss the tiny stuff. And maybe even that "triangle thing" next to it? I'm not trying to be critical Gary, just trying to remove some imperfections. |

A wonderfully planned image Peter. Staying back a little to allow your fellow hikers advance into the frame to provide points of interest is very clever move. Compositionally, everything about this image is spot on. And I thought it was cold here today !!!! |

Sorry for my late arrival this month Sherry. This is a very strong image. I love your use of compositional elements, the depth in the image. It's often quite tricky to bring that third dimension into a two dimensional piece of paper (if you print it). Time of day, colours and your presenting us with a scene we wouldn't normally see is great. Many photographers down here talk about "wasted space" being a negative vs "negative space" being a positive. The argument continues and will do so for years to come. You should be very proud of this image. |

A strong image Barbara, with lots of mood. I'm glad you chose not to process too much or "over-cook it". The muted colours caused by the fog are natural and very effective. Leaving a small portion of ground in the bottom leaves just enough of a base for the image to sit on. Some people may question the car, but I'm neither here nor there about it. Just glad there are no lights on it. Very well done. |

Thanks for your comments Jay. I'd like to see a couple of your images. Images incorporating opposites such as old and new in the same frame are always interesting. |

Thanks for your comments Henriette. It must be remembered that our craft of photography is a very subjective one. Every viewer will have a different comment about our images, so at the end of the day, I take and present images that please me. If others also like them, that's just a bonus. |

Thanks Sanford, it's good to have a project or two on the back burners, but it's also good to progress them a little now and then. Maybe you should progress one of yours. |

Thanks for your comments Gordon. Sometimes I like to approach my photography by individual scenes that present themselves to me, while other times I like to go on a mission and capture a group of images all belonging together as a collection. This series is a little challenging because I want nothing in the frame that dates the image. No cars, signage / advertising, people / fashion and particular care must be taken with reflections in any windows. |

Congratulations on another very strong image from Tanzania Sanford. I enjoy everything about your final image, from capture, through processing and to presentation. It speaks typical Africa to me, hot, dry, natural wilderness and wildlife. Some people may comment on the amount of empty sky and maybe the foreground, but I think you have presented it perfectly. We can see the barrenness of this landscape and feel its vastness. Very well done indeed. |

Another strong image Trey. Wet tree bark with a polarizer is always a good combination. The way you've presented it as a close up abstract is definitely a good method, as well as going for focus stacking. While you've opted for your preferred and usual 1/3 intersection, and there's nothing wrong with that, I often think about images I see in magazines, in various formats such as pano and square. So I will offer a couple of alternatives just for the sake of discussion by the group. I fully acknowledge that some of the quality may be lost due to the file size, but I think people will get the general idea. And I just point out that these are "options" that some may consider in their future works. |

Simply a superb image Gordon. "Composition entirely dictated by the position of the jetty..." how could it have possibly been any better? The lines of the creek and rope, the other jetties, the clouds and their reflections and then those sunrise colours. Then there's the condition and character of LT268. This image belongs in a book and on many walls Gordon.
I would love to hear how it goes if you decide to run it in any future competitions. Congratulation on your capture, processing and final presentation. |

Henriette, I must admit, if I could spend a few weeks exploring a piece of the USA, top of my list would be your Rocky Mountains. I love the depth in this image and the grandeur of the mountain with its snow in the background. The colours of the trees and the impending weather hinted at by the clouds speak volumes. Compositionally, this one is excellent, just the right amount of everything. Nothing much more I can add to this one. I great image and one you should be proud to put your name to. |

Congratulations on another great floral image Jay. Your drawing the final image out of the original is very well done. Good use of a macro lens, the available light and also the short time that the blooms are available to you. Please remember that you were there and I wasn't, so I have no idea of the conditions and location when you pressed the shutter. Your depth of field is good with the blurred background, but I would like to see an alternate image taken from just a foot or two either side, just to get that tree limb out of the frame completely, rather than blurred in the background. You know and I don't know, if there was something stopping you from taking that step? How would the slight change in the direction of light affect your image? Was there another limb out of this frame, that would have come into the frame if you moved? These are all questions that only you can answer and maybe consider with future images. After all is said and done, this is still a great image Jay. |
