Mark, are you and I on the same meds? I have an idea brewing in my head for a portfolio of images for a club I belong to down here, revolving around landscapes and seascapes with two suns and two moons. Doesn't Jupiter have over 8 moons? My statement is going to read "On a planet similar to earth, a long way away......." After all, aren't photographic rules meant to be bent? |

A great image Sherry. Strong processing to remove those un-necessary elements. Aren't rainbows great things and you have scored a hint of the second one as well. They disappear while we look at them. To capture one in all its glory, you have to be at the right place at the right time, with camera (and tripod) in hand. Third image from the same are,,,not a problem. |

Congratulations on a great image Dhananjay. Well composed, balanced and presented. Great time of day and light. My only negative thought is such a minor one, how would this image be if those three spotlights on the lower left weren't there? |

What a great image Dave. Location, mood, drama, impact and story, it has it all. To be rewarded with this image is well worth a 30 minute wait.
And congratulations also, on your article on Sports PJ this month, it was a good read. I'm glad you're getting good sports images, but also good landscapes. |

Many people say "Never work with animals or children".
I love infrared photography, but have never thought about combining it with nature / wildlife. Thank you Henriette, not only for sharing this great image, but also for "doing your homework" beforehand. You have previously studied your subject and learnt some of its habits and behaviors. This together with you preparation and patience has paid you great dividends in return. Congratulations on a superb image. |

Yes Sophie, your B&W image is very strong indeed. The shine of the metal is really good and provides wonderful tones in the metal. As Trey mentioned, this image is compositionally very good and the camera settings you chose provide good dof ad sharpness from foreground to background. Congratulations on a great image, regardless of what you decide to do with that "other" jet. |

A very strong image Trey, congratulations. Things I personally enjoy about images such as these is our ability to find "images within the image". Compositionally you have done very well, as always. Your chosen shutter speed has controlled the movement of water beautifully, as mentioned by the others, not too much and not too little. On top of these aspects, we are able to focus on smaller details of the waterfall and enjoy its little intricacies, just enjoy little bites of it all on their own. Very well done indeed. |

A superb image Sanford. Colours, particularly the skin tones are spot on, your use and control of side lighting is first rate, bringing wonderful modeling to their faces. Some people may comment on the lack of background detail when we might possibly expect to see at least something there, rather than solid black, but for this image, plain black does not detract in any way. A 50mm 1.4 prime lens is a wonderful lens. Your controlling it to provide great sharpness from the mother's left elbow and shoulder in the foreground through to the daughter's right eye and bird in the background is to be applauded. |

Congratulations on a very strong image Jay. Moving subjects can often present their own difficulties, but a group of planes in an air show can be even moreso. Your anticipation of this moment has done you well. As I mentioned to Gordon, it's all about the final image you present to your viewers.
While your original capture must be a strong starting point, it's the process you take to get to the resultant image that's important. The details in the planes are first rate, colours and sharpness are superb. Part of me asks if the sky looks a little un-natural, a little "too blue"? But I'm literally on the other side of the earth in a very different climate, I have never seen an American sky, so please don't take my thoughts too seriously, I'm just wondering how it would look if you desaturated the sky just a touch. Still a fantastic image to be proud of. |

A superb image Gordon. As you say you were in a hide, that tells me you didn't "stumble" upon this image, you set out with a purpose and plan in mind. This is also underlined (in my humble opinion) by your using a 600mm lens and an ISO of 6400. Your forward thinking and preparation has paid off and resulted in this great capture. Your processing has done it justice, bringing out the fine details of the feathers. The details in your final image combined with narrow DOF highlight the bird perfectly, while the muted background colours really enhance the natural aspect. Regardless of how tight you have cropped is irrelevant, the final image is all that matters. As far as nature comps are concerned, down her I have heard that judges like the birds to "be doing something". To me, this bird is keeping an eye out for any threats, to itself or possibly its chicks, who knows? I would be interested to hear any comments it receives in a competition. Congratulations on a superb image. |
