73 Sep 22 Reply The more I look at this one Sherry, the more I like it. Sep 12th
73 Sep 22 Reply Thanks for your thoughts Dhananjay. The 20mm prime is the widest lens I have, so this is as wide as I can get, without stitching, which I will probably try in early October. Be interesting to see how the water comes out in a stitch. Yes I could have moved back, but at this time I wanted to get in amongst the water and was not worried about getting my feet wet. Sep 12th
73 Sep 22 Reply Thanks for your comments Sherry. I love shooting the water here, as you can see the rock shelf is very large and as long as you stay away from the edge, the photographer (and camera) are very safe, unless the surf is large. Going back there early October for another visit. Sep 12th
73 Sep 22 Comment A very moody image Peter. You've made good use of a bad situation to produce an image to remind us of many things. Compositionally very strong and also you rendering the foreground subjects in silhouette enhance this one very well. Sep 12th
73 Sep 22 Comment A great cityscape Tom. You've handled the situation well and produced a great image. Yes it is a shame about those barrel shapes, but hey, you find things like those in every city. Sep 12th
73 Sep 22 Comment A great story telling image Dave. It speaks volumes about the state of climate all around the world. The water is a nice touch, in contrast to the cracked mud and the sky suits well. I was wondering about the missing skull or carcass, but that would be just too much of a cliché. Sep 12th
73 Sep 22 Comment A strong image Dhananjay, with good depth through your use of foreground and background elements. For me personally, the cars are neither her nor there, the trees also give good scale. Just something minor, that slight vignetting in the tops corners. Enhance or detract? Sep 12th
73 Sep 22 Comment A great image Sherry. The sunset colours are indeed beautiful, even though they were placed in the scene by a power greater than yourself, you did make use of them and captured them very well. Compositionally spot on, just the right amounts of sky and water, and the detail on the boat is also just right. Some may suggest a silhouette might have been ok too, but I don't think so in this case. A great capture. Lucky you were out hunting Ospreys at that time and location. Congratulations. Sep 5th

76 Sep 22 Reply Hahaha, we've all been there and done that Jay. You're not the first and definitely won't be the last. Like all aspects of photography, the more we stick at something and try, the better we all get. Just be sure to duck if the ball starts coming your way. Sep 13th
76 Sep 22 Reply Thanks Jay, at this spot when the light is right and the water is reasonably well behaved, it's hard not to get some good images. Sep 13th
76 Sep 22 Reply Thanks Gordon, I'm heading back there on 8th October with some friends as they want to try some long exposures. This time around I'm going to try stitching some images similar to my image this month in group 73 which was taken same place same day. I also hope to get some images that I can blend together and see what happens with the water. Watch this space in coming months.

76 Sep 22 Reply Thank you Sophie, this location is a one hour drive from my home so to get there to catch the sunrise, I have to leave home around 4am. It hurts and is very hard, but then the images lessen that pain. Sep 13th
76 Sep 22 Reply Thank you for your comments Henriette. I always enjoy this type of photography and usually end up with way more images than is needed, as the water is constantly changing as it flows around the rocks. Sep 13th
76 Sep 22 Comment A superb close up of a small piece of nature. Your original capture is very strong and this is where it all began. Then your processing stepped in, removing all the un-necessary details in the image and leaving us concentrating on the subject matter of your image. Focus stacking is the way to go with this type of subject matter. Congratulations Trey. Sep 13th
76 Sep 22 Comment Another great image this month Gordon. You've convinced me to improve my processing skills and learn about blending. This is an excellent sunset image, composition, construction, use of elements & viewpoint are all great. Your over-exposing your original a little tells me how you have mentally seen your final image before you fired the shutter, and then though how to best use your equipment to make your idea into an actual print. Very well done indeed, one you should be very proud of. Sep 13th
76 Sep 22 Comment Congratulations on your great imagery this month Henriette, thank you. Three strong versions of the same image enable us to have a good look at this location. I'm going to comment on the B&W first. To me, this says things like winter, cold, bleak and dismal. No snow on the branches, but definitely not far away. If that's the impression you want your viewers to have, you have done so, in my humble opinion. Next, your original "appears" true to life to me. Greens and browns appear natural as does the water colour. Your main image does look warm, a bit "over-cooked", not as natural as your original, but also not a bad image. As we know, early mornings and late afternoons produce "golden hour" light, which can be quite similar to this. If I was to print one to display, I too, would go with your original, but just see those tree limbs just lightened up a touch. Compositionally superb, just the right amount of everything to give a good sense of location and give our eyes plenty of things to see as they wander around. Sep 13th

76 Sep 22 Comment Two great story telling images from your theatre work Sophie. As you mention, the two images show different aspects of a man and his love for treasures. Your original image shows his greater store of wealth, while your main image forces us to look at his joy and desire (maybe even lust) for the individual item. While both images are fine and tell the story very well, I have offered two alternative crops for your main image. They are not meant to detract from your image, but rather show a possible option, by way of forcing us further to focus on his desires. They are only offered as suggestions Sophie. Sep 5th
76 Sep 22 Comment Congratulations on stepping out of your comfort zone Jay, and trying something new. Personally I believe that is when we grow in our skills. Sadly, the finer points of your national sport baseball are not well know to us Aussies. I've heard "Strike three, you're out" with your baseball, have you heard our expression "Howzat?" with our national sport of cricket? But back to your image. Exposure, composition and story telling are all good, as is action and movement. Personally, I think with ball sports, being able to see the actual ball makes an image stronger. But all balls are usually travelling at a fair speed, to and from many different directions and angles. So to include the ball, I believe the photographer must understand the sport and prepare in advance for the shooting, this includes trying to position themselves in the most advantageous position. While this image is technically sound, there are also many other baseball images able to be seen, which may be able to capture a viewer more. I'm sure Trey, with his previous experience will be able to comment further, particularly about that thing called "the peak of the moment". Please take my comments in the manner I intend them, get back out there more often and keep trying. As I believe with all sports, some days will be great and some maybe not so great, but regardless of any days, your skills will improve each time you go out. Sep 5th
