This is a great image Debbie. I hope you don't mind, but I just threw it into PS and gave it some Detail Extractor in Nik filters to try and give it a kick. |

Well done David, one of the best Grand Canyon images I've seen. |

Superb image Peter, as always. Yes the cabin pops, but the water demands my attention. Just the right amount of movement. |

A great image Janos, the textures and simplicity are very strong. Have you used any clarity or noise reduction to the image? |

Sorry guys, I'm the odd one out this month. Never been to Pittsburgh, closest I've got was Honolulu. We have Pitt Street here, but that's not the same. This is a great image Matt, great time of day, strong colours and composition. I've said before how good this craft we call photography is, we all see things differently and have our own thoughts. Your image and Sherry's pano version are both strong and I really don't have a preference. Well done, both of you. |

A superb image Sherry. Simplicity and story telling plus. A flock of birds doing what they do best, coming or going, it doesn't matter to me. The warmth of the sky colour works beautifully. Birds in these numbers (and I imagine there were many more out of frame), I would expect to see at some sort of height, so the "landscape" section for me is implied and would be out of frame below. I hope you have space on a wall to hang this one. |

Thanks for your comments Matt. Yes I was thinking about that grass, but I also thought you would expect to find such things growing at waterfalls. The more majestic parts of the falls are to my left and further down behind me, but I liked the tranquility of this little quiet section. |

Thanks for your comments Debbie. As I said to the other guys, this is the top most section of the falls, so above it is pretty much just greenery and sky. I did like this smaller more tranquil section because as you said, it was peaceful. |

Thanks for your comments Janos. This particular image is of the top section of a three tiered waterfall. It is impossible to capture the full three tiers, unless you had a drone a couple of hundred feet in the air. The center tier was flowing quite well and an image from there will probably appear next month. On the day we never got to the bottom tier, so I am planning another trip back in the near future to shoot the whole three tiers. If I had moved a little to the right, the grass in the centre of the image might have been less of a distraction, but the shrubs in the top right would have hidden part of the top area, so I chose the lesser of two evils. |

Thank you Sherry, moving water, be it a waterfall, a smaller cascade or surf is a favourite subject of mine. I enjoy capturing them in their fullness (if possible) together with their smaller intimate areas. |

I agree with Sanford Trey, this is a great shot. Can I ask a question please? The foreground grass with the centre section of trees and the shed, make up about two thirds of this image, and definitely have a "cold" feel to them, quite rightly. The sky is brighter with a healthy amount of yellow, which may imply warmth. If the sky was toned down a little, do you think that warmth would be reduced and bring more coldness into the image and in line with the lower two thirds? |

A very strong image Jay. Your processing has worked well, bringing out the details in the ice and far side rocks. If you want to make Sanford really feel cold, swing it to a black and white. |

Your final image Heidi, speaks romance to me, soft and delicate. You have handled the whites in this image very well, with no excessive blown out areas, just enough detail throughout. The soft yellows in the centre also compliment the image and the composition is superb. Very well done. One last thought please, how would it look as a high key black & white? |

Wow Sanford, you call it a big crop, I call it a HUGE crop.
And so very effective. Considering the difficulties in getting this final image, you have done a great job, from your initial watching of the nest and waiting for something to appear. Some people may say there is some wasted space in the top of the image, but that doesn't worry me at all here. A superb image. |

This new lens of yours Jorn, has so much potential to produce some really strong macro images with no post processing needed, which I acknowledge is your preferred method of presenting your work. It has a very fine depth of field. so will blur backgrounds beautifully, but you may have to watch things that are closer to the camera that your main subject. As Sanford says, those petals nearer to the camera are out of focus and a little distracting. However, you are still finding your way with this new lens and am already producing some fine images. On behalf of the members in this group, I am sorry to see you leave us, but I wish you the very best in the future where-ever it may lead you. It has been my pleasure to have you as a member of this group. |
