Thank you Nok. I love to photograph waterfalls as well. I am always very cautious and have a good long hard look at what the water is doing before I venture in. Try it, but be very careful. It is the best way to get images that nobody else gets. Just give the tripod legs a good rinse in the shower when you get back home. |

Sorry everyone, but I'm going to respectfully disagree. I much prefer your original image Nok, as you presented it. Your re-worked sky to me looks too artificial and I like being able to see the center ground rise taper off to its end on the left. By seeing its full tapering off I have no questions, the image looks "complete". Not seeing the left end I find myself asking what is missing there? Sorry everyone, but I much prefer the original image, the pastel colors for me work wonderfully. |

A great image Dave. As everyone has said already, the composition, use of lighting and clouds has resulted in as spectacular image. Well worth the elbowing time. |

A stunning image Janos. Very monochromatic and minimalistic. Simple yet strong. Would look great hanging on any wall and deserves to be. |

A superb image Peter, and you have ventured into a different style of presentation. Very effective for this subject matter and I feel the treatment may not suit everything, but here it certainly does. The colors and balance of this one are great. |

Thanks Janos. We were hoping and planning to get a colorful sunrise, but the clouds killed that wish, so we concentrated on the water and clouds instead. Always good to have a plan B. |

Thanks Peter, this was one of the opportunities when everything came together. We just had to be brave and get our feet wet. |

WOW Sherry, this is a stunner. Down here, I only get to see this location in books and films. You have done it justice, but like Larry I look forward to seeing your results from another visit. We all learn so much so quickly in our photographic journeys. My thinking behind that comment is that the sky looks a touch bright for the mittens. And there is that sunlight line running across the background. Please forgive me for commenting on such a minor detail, but with your improved skills no doubt your next visit will yield even better results. |

Thank you Sherry. Yes it's great when a plan (or vision) comes together. Do you have any thoughts on the pano format for the final image? |

Thank you Larry. It was such fun getting these images. We were sensible in our methods and not moving at all when the waves were coming, but only moved again when the water was ankle deep. Fortune favors the brave. |

This is a great image Jay. Your exposure for the lighting is just right. We must all remember that old saying "Never work with animals or children" and that includes birds. Their one and only interest and priority is survival, they are not the least interested in posing for a photo, unless they are a pelican and you or an assistant is holding a fish. So this nature or wildlife shot is wonderful. I agree with Trey, the branch or read above the bird's head doesn't bother me at all, and I agree with Trey's cropping. Removing a good portion from the right hasn't taken anything of importance out of the image, so it is not detracted in any way and the bird is still pleasingly off center. |

Sanford, I'm going to go out on a limb here and say this is one of if not the best image I've seen you produce. Your capture was superb and I am going to assume you selectively focused on the nearest hawk. Your processing has brought out great details in the feathers & timber post. The sky is also just right. I agree with Trey that the addition of those birds bottom right is a great inclusion, the one half hidden behind the post doesn't really bother me as much as it does Trey (sorry Trey). Unfortunately the bad news for you Sanford, is that you have to maintain this level of image making from now on. No going backwards, only forwards. A superb image that deserves to be hung on a wall. |

Another superb image Jorn. In my humble opinion your photography is going from strength to strength. Presenting this in B&W adds to the bleakness of the location and our current situation. I acknowledge Trey's comments, but to me the story of this image is isolation and as you said being alone. I like your exposure that has produced some detail in the bench timber. A very thought provoking image Jorn. Well done. |

I love this image Cyndy. Cropping the bright top portion off to leave us with just the pink blooms and a hint of stem against the black background has forced us to concentrate those soft blooms themselves. Some people might ask why you didn't shoot the blooms so that they had some "breathing room" to their sides, but you know what was there and we don't. As you have included these cut edges to both sides, I think you have produced quite a balanced image. Great work. |

This is a great capture Trey. Composition, season and weather and time of day all add to a very strong image. Cropping and processing have produced a wonderful winter shot, with interest throughout the whole finished image. I also quite often shoot an image 2/3 or 1 stop under. Very well done indeed. |

Thanks for your comments Trey. With the bottom third of the image I probably just applied some of favourite go to "tonal contrast" in NIK filters. Yes those are 3 gulls that took to the wing as the waves came over the rock shelf. Although they don't really add to the image, I quite like having them there. I really enjoy photographic opportunities like we had this particular morning, you can pre-visualize and compose to our heart's content, with a definite vision of the final image. |
