73 Apr 19 Comment Great image Tuhin. The long exposure time has really brought interest to the clouds and softened the water. Placing that tall skyscraper right in the middle and letting the rest of the city recede back from it has resulted in a great composition. I hope your work colleagues don't see this photo and remember they saw it too that day you went home sick. Apr 9th
73 Apr 19 Comment Good architectural image of an unusual construction Tim. I like the balance of the image, but wonder if it would be stronger if a slight amount of cropping could be done on the base to loose that black railing in the bottom right? Also, a lower viewpoint, just by a matter of inches, would then show us the missing center section of the other side of the river? Just thinking out loud. Apr 9th
73 Apr 19 Comment Nice greens and blues David. The scene and reflection suits the pano format. While the fences give good balance to the image, I think it would be a much stronger image if there was something else in it to provide some additional interest. Apr 9th
73 Apr 19 Comment Nice image Darryl. It sure does look cold, as you say it was. The overall blue tint to the image makes me lean towards the tones in your original. But that is just personal preference. It is noticed that you have cropped some of the sky off and introduced a slight panoramic end result to your image. Have you thought about taking some of the foreground grass off as well? There is plenty there and loosing some, I think doesn't detract from your image. Just as a thought, what do you think of this option? No processing has been done to the original other then a crop of the sky, similar to yours and some of the foreground. Apr 9th
73 Apr 19 Comment A great view and image Sherry. I was a bit curious when I saw the 2 images, but it all fell into place when I read the story. What a difference a lens length can make. 500mm certainly compresses distance in the photo and zooms in on the church, while 290mm shows us the top of the mountains and lets us know that's where this photo ends. Your main image is my personal favorite. The sky takes up about 25% of the image, the church has nice lighting to show off its red and white colors while the surrounding hills have differing shades of green and brown, all looking very natural. Having the sky that is there, or a blue one with other clouds is neither here nor there for me. We don't get blue skies every day. I think the image is great just the way you've presented it. 76 Apr 19 Reply Thanks Jay. I never intentionally meant for it to happen, but over recent years moving and flowing water has become one of my favorite subjects. I'm waiting for some wild weather now, so I can go try for some real pounding surf. Apr 7th
76 Apr 19 Reply Thanks Cyndy. A wonderful retired emeritus professor of photography once said in one of his workshops at our club "All artists at some time, must suffer for their art". Oh man was he right !!! And I just realised my typo in the title. It should be Botany Bay. Apr 7th
76 Apr 19 Reply Time is on my side tonight Jay, just for a change. We have a photographer over here by the name of Ken Duncan who does stunning panoramas in 6x17 format, both horizontal and the occasional vertical. I have done absolutely nothing to the processing of your image, just cropped it to 6x17. Who ever said all photos have to be the same format? I love panoramas. I've moved the horizon to the top third line and retained all the sun's reflection on the water. Do you have any thoughts? PS Google Ken Duncan Panographs and enjoy. Apr 7th
76 Apr 19 Comment This image is a good starting point Tyler. I don't like the term "wasted space", it leaves a bad taste in my mouth and is negative. "Negative space" can be used to balance a photo. With this image I will say there is a lot of
"un-necessary space". You titled your image Moscow Mountain and I presume that's it way back in the background, not a major proportion of the photo. There is a lot of empty plain blue sky in the top and also a lot of repetitive grass in the bottom. The image would not be weakened by loosing some of the sky & grass. I have cropped the image into a panoramic format, just as a thought for you to consider as a way to possibly bring more emphasis onto the mountain for you. Just a thought.

76 Apr 19 Comment What a thought provoking image Jorn. A real capture of a moment in time. It causes many questions to be asked: The photographer could be one of those two shadows in the center but neither is holding the camera? Therefore was the photo taken "from the hip"? Or were they other passers by, like that larger shadow on the right? An image such as this does not require all the niceties be met. this image is simple but has good impact. Well done Jorn. Apr 7th
76 Apr 19 Comment WOW Cyndy !!! Thank you for making my job so easy this month and easily recognising your original image and final image. Creative photography is 1 of my favorite genres and you have done so well with this one. It is a great subject and format for what you have done. Your original is a standout, so with this final image you have presented us with a complete bonus. All the usual photography terms and comments are completely irrelevant and out the window with this one. Well done indeed. I'm greatly looking forward to the comments from the other group members. 76 Apr 19 Comment Stunning image Jay !!! I love this thing we call photography. It can promote much discussion and provoke many emotions, with no-one being right or wrong, just different. The bird in my opinion is neither here nor there. It was there when you pressed the button and the sun will always do what it does. I love the tones, but agree with Cyndy, the original does have a bit more punch to it. One of my main frustrations is not having enough hours in the day that I would like, so I will be back to this image in a few days with another thought for you to consider, all good so don't worry. 76 Apr 19 Comment Another fine shot Trey. Much has already been said about the verticals and straightening, so I will only mention that the left side of the door (no 75) looks ok, while the right side angle (no 77) looks a little more pronounced. All in all your final image is great and you should be proud of it. Your processing has done it justice. You have livened up the interior and brought out good detail in the front entry wall. The 2 plants provide great balance. I think there is much more to this image than 2 stripes of bricks running up the edges. And keeping up with the pack is never easy or enjoyable, unless they are all photographers. This image of yours has inspired me to go hunt down a building in Sydney's backstreets called The Paper Bag. I have only ever seen photos of it and it must have been a bricklayers nightmare, there's not a straight vertical to be found. Watch this space in coming months. Oh, and I will go on my own, or with just 1 friend. Apr 7th
