A strong coastal photo Tim. I like the blues in the image. The sky & water relate well together. However I feel there is a lot of un-necessary information in the top part of the image. I also see a dust spec or something in the sky above the center mast of the hidden ship. If you were to crop the image off from the spec upwards, the resultant photo would be a strong panorama. Also, sunrise colors are always good to capture, but sometimes we aren't that lucky. You have a good image without them. |

Mountains and glaciers are always a great combination for a good landscape. The V in the valley leads the eye through the photo and gives good depth. Good image. |

The 1918 photos were from a completely different part of Sydney, showing some of our colonial architecture. Some images show buildings in their entirety while others just show just some of the finer details. It was fun to do, but sometimes a challenge as I had to make sure there was nothing in the frame that would give a modern date such as cars, signs, modern fashion etc. I have attached one from the older area just to show you. In PP I have tried to give it the appearance of a photo taken 1918. |

I love the low viewpoint Peter and the night colors are great. Isn't there a difference between a dry day and a wet night. I understand what Sherry is saying about the cones, but they don't bother me as much. A great photo. Ok Sherry, your turn for next month, a street scene with some ghosts. |

A strong image Sherry. Great dof and colors. I enjoy the fact that my eye follows the mountain ridge from the near left to the distant right, but sadly they get caught on that thing in the sky between the ridge and clouds over towards the right. If that speck was to go, it would be another superb photo. |

A very interesting photo Jorn, much to look at and take in. While this photo shows it as you found it, there is much more that could be done with that shell. It might be against the rules for "Nature" photography, but for "General" photography what about moving it away from all the other elements, that way the viewer is forced to look at just the shell, nothing else. Perhaps also put it just at the water's edge, a little moisture would make it shine and sparkle a bit. |

I think you have presented this image very well Jay. I too, love the cropping, leaving the plane on the top right third point. Yes not much happening in the sky, but we get days like that. The shadows on the buildings give the time of day and angle of light, so you can't expect the side of the plane to be bright. All in all a great shot, especially knowing that the plane is not going to wait for you to photograph it. Well done. |

I hope Tyler that you get many happy years of photography out of your new Nikon, a great camera. What lens(es) came with it? (1) I agree with Cyndy & Trey about the blueish tint but (2) Come on you two, Tyler hasn't had the camera for a month yet, I will cut him some slack. But I do agree with Trey, some room below the paws would make it a better image. Now that you have a good camera in your hands Tyler, I really am looking forward to seeing what you put up in the coming months. |

I must also admit Sanford, that my preference for photography is a camera and a phone for talking on. Having said that I have seen many photos taken on a phone that have looked superb. Our own Tyler does very well also. It is always good to step out of our comfort zone. But now to this image. I love the mood and atmosphere that early morning mist provides. And also the stillness of water, gives wonderful reflections. Your "little" processing in LR is just right as it can be so easy to overdo it sometimes. But you haven't done that with this one. Well done Sanford. |

Thanks Trey, actually it didn't take all that long once I got my head around the task. Yes there are a lot of horizontal lines here and I pretty much used each one as a focus point. The nearest edge of the station platform; the train; the figure dressed in blue & white on the steps; the fence on the near side of the road; one of the cars (can't remember which one) and the building in background. F13 gave enough dof in each image to allow for an overlap in the final stacked image. Only a couple on minutes to capture the 6 images and then around 15 minutes in PS given that I am very new to this. |

Thanks Cyndy. No I didn't use Helicon, actually I've never heard of it. All done in Photoshop. |

A good image Cyndy, our feathered friends never pose long for us. Yes the eye is sharp as required but I'm curious to learn what f stop and shutter speed you used? The reason behind that is the beak. I can't help thinking that a goose or duck beak is not all that long, maybe a slight adjustment could have brought more into sharp focus? But you were there and I wasn't. The horizontal lighting backs up your comment about early morning. And do I see some sort of "hallow" type shading around the beak? All in all a good image Cyndy. |

The colors in this image all work very well together. Nature does that so well. There is a lot to look at in this one Trey. The greenery in the top left quarter of the image, the mushrooms in the bottom right quarter and even the whole lower half of the image. We all have different thoughts and approaches to our photography. Rather than cropping an image, what about just photographing the bottom right quarter as the original at the time of capture? Then take a second original brushing the leaf litter away? One image as you saw it & another giving the mushrooms full attention? |
