23 Oct 18 Comment A very strong image Sherry. The 1/20 shutter speed gives exactly the right amount of movement to the grass and the 460mm lens has done its job of compressing the distance between the elements of the image perfectly, brought those mountains right up behind the barn. I'm assuming they were quite some way off. The red roof, green grass and blue mountains all work well together. Is that what they really mean by RGB ??? Sorry, I couldn't help myself. Ian group 73. 73 Oct 18 Comment Sherry, this additional comment has absolutely nothing to do with your image. I might be a bit slow over here, but I have just noticed that this month brings our group to the end of our first year together. I have just flicked back through our shared journey of the last 12 months, and fair dinkum, haven't we all grown and improved in our photography. So from this side of the Pacific, I would just like to thank you Sherry, for all your efforts, comments and leadership. Bring on the next 12 months..... Oct 16th
73 Oct 18 Comment Tuhin, your photography is getting better all the time. The use of diagonal line from bottom left to top right is a great compositional tool. My only comment for this image is that as the rocks are so strong in the foreground, I would like to see them just a touch sharper, particularly on the right. But a great image in any case. Oct 16th
73 Oct 18 Comment Hi Peter. Another great example of your skill in using foreground and background interest to bring depth to an image. Composition and image construction are superb. I am going to be super picky here, could that small piece of orange on the center mountain be some natural landfall, but the resultant color keeps drawing my eye away from the rest of the image. Also, is that just a hint of lens flare diagonally up right from that orange color? And did you use a CPL? Sorry if I seem savage, but I keep hearing people over here say that we never see our own crooked horizons. Just an expression. Your companion is a magical inclusion. Oct 16th
73 Oct 18 Comment Pardon the pun please Steven, but I think your photography is about to take off. If this is a shot from your first day, I am greatly looking forward to seeing your coming efforts. This image in its own right has good colors, good composition and great sharpness, from front to back. But please don't forget your trusty dslr. Oct 16th
73 Oct 18 Comment A stunner Sherry. I love the colors of the ice drifting in the water. Their positioning in the foreground lead us to the shore in the middle ground and then off to the mountains and sky in the background. I agree with Stephen, the sunset colors are just right. I can wander around in this image so much, I almost need to take a drink with me. Oct 16th
73 Oct 18 Comment David, if I didn't know better, I'd be starting to think you're beginning to like panoramas. What an outstanding image for the format. Composition is spot on, as is the processing. Well done. Oct 16th

76 Oct 18 Comment Yes Trey, a great photo. Nice tight angle of view, forces us to look at what you want us to see. I agree with Cyndy, the cap with their earphones in place give a great human element. It's like the person has just vacated the cockpit. Oct 16th
76 Oct 18 Comment Hi Jorn. Yes, Jay is right, a very interesting place. It's good to see some locations in their entirety, but as photographers, we can concentrate our viewer's attention more closely to a certain aspect of our images. Have you considered of making this one a panorama? Oct 16th
76 Oct 18 Comment Great photo Tyler. Great capture of the clouds and their colors. It's always good to have a phone at hand. Oct 16th
76 Oct 18 Comment Jay, what the ??? We have absolutely nothing like that over here. My questions; how do the cars get in there, and back out? And the drivers? Or is there some sort of rotatable forklift type thing in the middle? But the image Ian, come on now. Great end result when compared to the original. Beautiful night photo, especially given the different light sources in the shot. Excellent control of tonal range. Like Trey, the elements in the bottom corners don't impress me or help the image, but I also feel this structure needs the ground to sit on, show that it has a base. I'm wondering if it's possible to shoot it from a slightly different angle to get some separation and then crop them out? Oct 16th
76 Oct 18 Comment When I first saw this land over here Cyndy, like Trey, I thought WOW. Stitching is something I've always wanted to try. And 14 images !!! I love the way you've constructed this one, the elements left & right on the ends of the beach give great balance, the level horizon and exaggerated curve of the waterline give great depth. I initially thought the deep blue of the very top of the sky might be a little overdone, but no, the more I look at it the more I like it. It balances the dark sand on the bottom. Superb photo Cyndy. 76 Oct 18 Reply Thank you Jay. It's curious you use the term "fine art". I'm playing with that idea with some landscapes currently "under construction". I'm yet to find a definition of "fine art". Do you have any thoughts please? Images I have seen that are called fine art vary greatly.

Thank you everyone for your comments, I appreciate them all, well done. Just for the record the maximum height of the far petal was about 2 inches and the whole bloom about 4 inches from the lens.

76 Oct 18 Reply Thanks Jorn. It is great to photograph flowers and gardens in their outdoor environments, but it is also fun to bring a single bloom indoors and have some form of control over the image making. No breeze, changing the angle of view, turning the bloom in slightly different directions can all produce different and interesting images. Oct 16th
76 Oct 18 Reply Thanks Tyler. Like you, I love photographing landscapes and the great outdoors, but I also love times of getting up close and personal with some smaller subjects. As this image (and several others of different flowers) was taken using extension tubes, those tubes have a side effect of causing a very shallow depth of field, sometimes just a few millimeters. No amount of PP can make a blurred subject or part thereof sharp. My aim for this image was to show the soft delicacy and pastel colors of the bloom. Oct 16th
76 Oct 18 Reply Thank you Trey. I'm glad you commented on the colors, because this same flower was photographed with a number of different colored backgrounds with various shades. This image is the one I like best because I feel the background color is strong, but not over powering. Oct 16th
76 Oct 18 Reply Thanks Cyndy. Yes your comments are definitely valid and will be taken on board with other flower images. Oct 16th
