Top shot Steven. This is great, good colors and composition. I like the inclusion of the people, they give a human element and bring life into the image. |

Thanks Tuhin. I am about to walk out the door for a weekend away with 20 or so photography friends. I intend to try something very different with some seascapes while I am away. Stay tuned. |

Thanks Sherry, I like using ND's as they often reduce the high contrasts often present between skies and foregrounds that I often seem to get. |

Great "extreme" pano Tony. Very different and very eye-catching. Is it the result of stitching or sweeping? My only concern is that it needs a bit of straightening. The right side is quite a bit higher than the left. Also, the bit of white vignetting, while it does not detract from the image, I'm not sure it enhances either. |

Peter, you are my favorite photographic scoundrel !!! The runaway number 1 thing on the top of my bucket list is The Northern Lights. This is one of the best "Lights" photos I have seen. The colors, the reflections, the stars, the mountain detail and the lights themselves are all simply stunning. While I fully acknowledge that the lights of the townships are accurate, because they are there, I would love to see another alternate image with them removed. My eyes would then be forced to just soak up the Lights and the landscape with nothing else competing for attention, just a thought. No doubt you have several other images from this trip. I will just have to continue dreaming. Thank you for sharing this photo with us. |

What a great image David. Your post processing and cropping forces us to look at the boat and its solitude. A very calming and peaceful image that would look good hanging on any wall. My only thoughts on improving it the removal of those bits of tree twigs from the bottom right corner and right center level with the boat. To me, they are distractions. I'm also just putting my finger over the marker post (channel marker?). By taking this out also, you are removing further man-made elements and the boat could by anywhere on any ocean. Just thinking out loud. What do you think? |

I like the greens and browns. Good natural earthy colors. The silky water flow is your trademark with falls such as these and you present them very well. It is very satisfying to go away for a trip and come back with a bag full of great images. By concentrating our attention on just a small part of the environment you have definitely achieved your aim of increasing impact. Well done. |

Good stuff Tyler is in the building !!! By banding I'm refering to the distinct and visible lines of color change in this photo, it is evident in the bottom of the sky. I can see distinct lines where the color fades from dark blue to pale blue, rather than a seamless blend. Pixilating is seeing the little square shapes (pixels), again visible in parts of the sky. Not sure if this is what happens when a mob phone image is enlarged. |

Hi Jorn, when I was mentioning digital noise, I was referring to the speckle type feature/detail, which I see throughout the grey background, also by Sebastian's left ear, not the vase of flowers in the background. To make myself clear, I applied some noise reduction in Lightroom titled "Luminance" to see what difference it made to just "cleaning up" the image. I have cropped the image quite severely to show the fine detail. For the purpose of the exercise Noise 1 is the before and Noise 2 is the after. Do you have any thoughts if there is a difference |

Going down the grunge road with this one Trey, certainly has brought out a different image. Cropping the top off and placing the biker higher in the frame also increases the impression of his height. The grunge effect is different, but I would also like to see a lightened "normal" image as well, just for comparison sake. |

A good image Tyler, but I must agree with Trey & Cyndy. The right foreground and left centerground mountains do need some detail to strengthen this photo. From a photographic viewpoint, your composition is great as is your treatment of the mountains in the background. In the sky I can see some banding or pixilating happening. I'm definitely not up to speed with processing photos on a phone. As Cyndy says, great effort, keep going for it. |

Hi Sanford. Welcome to group 76. Night photography is a great genre to practice. I'm purely guessing by the sky and also the ambient light in the background that this image was taken more at dusk than night. But that is inconsequential. Your cropping of the car and building light on the extreme left of the original definitely removes unwanted distractions. I also like the detail and lightening of the fountain feature, and 1/60 gives hint of movement to the water. Speaking of that, there are some streaks in the tree far left. Are these droplets from a different part of the fountain? If so, I would like to see another image of the fountain in its entirety later. The Tivoli in the background also gives a good sense of location and city life. Well done. |

Obliging grandchildren are simply the best subjects Jorn. Yours appear quite older than mine. This is an absolutely beautiful portrait. Sebastian is obviously happy for you to take his portrait(s). I love the composition, framing, sharpness & dof. And b&w is superb. If I may offer just 1 thought please. Above his right shoulder I notice a fair amount of digital noise. Does your software have a noise reducing facility. This is only a very minor detail, but I would not sleep well tonight if I was not honest. What do you think? |

Hi Jay, welcome to our group 76. A good image showing both the art work on offer for sale, together with the festival's environment and location. Your cropping of the unnecessary sky in top right and 2 men on right strengthens the image, but sadly it meant you lost the background bridge by doing so. A shame because you mentioned that you liked the "various bridges". Never mind, that's easily fixed. I imagine that bridge will still be there, the art festival will return, but hopefully annoying pedestrians might not be. Did you think about cropping the gent in the blue check shirt on the left out as well? Great use of colors on the tent and art work, but I also particularly love the skin tones of the vendor and his customer. They are very well handled. Great work Jay. |

Hi Cyndy, sorry Trey, I am a flower guy. I love getting up close and personal with these guys and all their delicate beauty, but I prefer to take them indoors, out of a breeze, camera on tripod and extension tubes between lens & body. Very shallow dof, but lovely soft delicacy. Your image here Cyndy is fine, but the top bloom is too out of focus for me, and being almost equal in size to your main bloom, competes for viewer attention. I would also like to see the full left bloom. Having said that, you were there and I wasn't, so I don't know what other uglies were lurking just out of frame. Your post processing is good and I think flipping it from the original has made it a stronger image.
What other thoughts or comments do you have? In a month or 2 I will post one of my indoor flowers and you can have payback. |
