Yes Steven, filters do make big differences. My favorite for this month is Original 2. |

Great image Peter. Time of day and lighting are great as is the composition and I love the ray of light coming through the hole in the wall. The only thing I find confusing is the water flow. The distant wave appears to be coming straight at us, the center wave going a little right to left and the water going over the foreground rock from left to right? Wet feet is not a problem on you or your tripod, just make sure the Nikon stays dry. |

Superb image Sherry. The way have brought out the shadow detail on this side of the lighthouse against the brighter sunset is great. My only question is do I see white lines running down the sides of the lighthouse and if so, is that a sign of over-sharpening? Other than that minor detail this is a stand out image. One other question please, EV 2/3, over or under? |

Tuhin, this image is a stunner !!! You have handled the exposure brilliantly. The colors are wonderful, although you can't take personal credit for providing them, you can claim responsibility for great use of them, together with using the rocks in the foreground for depth. And the shutter speed used for the water is just right. My only concern and it is a very small one is that bit of tree in the top left corner. You were there and I wasn't, so I can't comment on the location anymore than that. Great image. |

Thanks Alper, with Trey seeing a face in there and you with your owl & snake, I will have to have a bit of a re-think. I might put up another fire shot in a few months, just so you guys can see my dancing girls !!! Oh by the way, flames here are around 8 feet tall. |

Thanks Cyndy, as I mentioned to Trey, this and the other images were just for the fun of photography. No special story behind them. It was just basically an exercise to see if I could fill a frame and freeze the flames starting at around 1/2000 of a second. On the night I ended getting up to 1/8000 of a second. All just good fun. And quite right Cyndy, very minimal post processing. From memory, just a little clarity for the mid tone colors and some noise reduction. |

Thanks Trey, I was the only one game enough to venture closer to this fire, everyone else was either behind me or way off to the sides. This image and all the others taken on the night were for the pure fun of it. |

Hi Trey, you said you wanted to produce an image with grunge and you certainly have. I am in two minds, yes, like Alper, I would like to see the whole plane, but then that nose area would not be so strongly in my face. I imagine at an airshow to get an image of an entire craft without many people around it would be virtually impossible, so if you want to exclude the crowds you must shoot over them. If that is the case here you have produced a great image. That banding in the sky is my only negative thought about this image. |

A superb image Cyndy. The lighting is first class and great post processing. I love the angle of view, looking up at the bloom from below enhances the translucent colors of the petals no end. I believe flowers are also one of those subjects that make great images in a square format. That's just my thought as an option. Great image. Well done. |

Hi Tyler, A fine first image, well done. As has been said, when I look at bottom corners I notice that the water on the left appears higher up the side than on the right. To me that indicates a little tilting as Cyndy has said. Some people like to change their skies and some don't. I believe both approaches are fine. That is a decision you will make for yourself in your photographic journey. I hope you don't mind, but I have had a little play with your image. All I have done is straighten it a little in Lightroom and boosted the clarity a little, to boost the mid tones to try and make the mountain colors pop a little more. What are your thoughts please? |

Hi Alper. Congratulations on a great image. Your post processing of the image is fine as well. We all seem to be on the same way of thinking. I firmly believe that as the photographer you are free to present your images as you see fit. However, I also believe that quite often there is an image within an image. One of my favorite formats for presenting images is in the panorama format. Not for all people all of the time, but every now and then an image may present itself as a panorama. Having said that, I have had a little play with cropping your image into a panorama. I hope you don't mind and I only wish to offer it to you as a possible alternative "in addition" to your image. |
