Hi Sherry, Sorry to take so long to get back. Been quite busy. I have tried a bit of dodging and burning in PS and while those shadows in the nearest mountain do lighten a little, the results just don't look right, I can't get them to look as crisp as your image deserves. However, your use of Nik's detail extractor has had a great effect on the sky and background mountain. Congratulations on a great image. |

I was thinking possibly some local adjustments in PS. Do you mind if I download your image and try? |

Hi Tuhin. We all have different individual moods and tastes. That's what makes this thing called photography so great. Nothing wrong with the construction of this image and like you, I often prowl around a subject looking for different angles. I would love to see another image with a softer sky with more of a pastel color pallet, just to compare the two. Is there also a way of possibly making those rock towers a little more prominent and not blending into their backgrounds? |

Hi Steven. We don't have a Grand Canyon over here, but we have seen plenty of images of it. Your use of foreground and framing with the trees to the sides make this image quite different from the ones we usually see. The polarizer definitely lifts those clouds. |

Hi David. Great image, stunning. I can't agree more with Sherry, go for that shadow slider and then watch this image really come to life. |

Hi Peter. All I can say is "Wow, I wish I took it!" Superb composition, color, depth and use of that fog/cloud. But 1 question please, just to the right of the far left tree, is that another photographer trying to be invisible? |

Hi Jerry. Like Sherry, Peter & yourself, I think flowing water is always a good ingredient for an image. But for the sake of discussion, I don't really mind the leaves & branches on the left. To me, they provide balance to the ones on the bottom right & center. They also stop my eye from flowing out of the image along with the water. However, I would like to see those bright areas at the bottom of the "falls" just toned down a little. I would also love to see some detail in the dark shadow areas of the rock face & under the trees on the far bank. |

Very pleasant landscape Sherry. The sky, tree colors & water surface remain strong in your post processing. The boat far left does not concern me as much as it does you, but if I was to crop it, I would take out the cluster of 4 boats far left so that none of those boats become an issue at all. I don't think that losing anything in the image above the boats would detract from the overall image. I would also like to see a further image showing a little more detail in mountainside shadow area. To me, that shadow area makes up around 25% or so of the image deserves more. Just some thoughts. |
