3 Jul 21 Comment I've only had one successful panning shot… from a workshop a few years back in Paris. I don't remember all of the instruction but the main thing was to follow smoothly and have something be in focus. In my shot I was lucky that the biker looked at me and I got focus on his face. 3 Jul 21 Reply Great! Love when a photo can give you a learning experience… it is amazing that there have been that many versions of the flag. I wonder if other countries have gone thru that many variations. Jul 19th
3 Jul 21 Reply Thank you LuAnn, I like your edit too… just goes to show that a photo is never really finished. Jul 19th
3 Jul 21 Reply Thanks LuAnn, that helps. I'll mention to our club about defining our themes. Last month the theme was shadows, and we got reflections and silhouettes and shadows. It led to a healthy discussion, but our voting was all over the place. Thanks for the info Jul 13th
3 Jul 21 Reply I actually think it works LuAnn… not too saturated for me. Less glaring than the orange pool chairs. Very cute image. Jul 13th
3 Jul 21 Comment Great story, and it helps explain the background image. There is one tendril (?) hanging down behind the flower in the composite that is almost invisible in the original. It is just slightly distracting. Too bad it wasn't fully straight down, it would add a third tendril surrounding that leaf. Just my opinion. Not sure if it would help to take it out. Jul 13th
3 Jul 21 Comment Great panning shot, especially with Michael's edit toning down the background. Great colors in the biker and they dont clash with any colors in the background. Good job Jul 13th

3 Jul 21 Comment Nice image Mary Ann, I was going to post my attempt at straightening your image, but Michael did it better. It did hurt my neck looking up at the door in your original. That is when you need the indoor drone, lol. Beautiful architecture, nice documentation of a place. Jul 13th
3 Jul 21 Comment Love this image, very whimsical. Maybe you can change the orange color to a pink color to match the swan and be less distracting but still leave in all the pool fixtures? All else is great! Jul 10th
3 Jul 21 Comment Fantastic crop. I liked it even when I just saw the small thumbnail. Well done. Jul 10th
3 Jul 21 Comment I can never get the butterflys to sit still like that! I like Michael's edit adding a little bit more in the background. To me, the full black was distracting. I was thinking you had put a black bunting behind it. It doesn't seem natural to me with such a black background.
Also, I have a question about macro photography, and the definition. To my mind, macro meant really close-up, in your face views of things, usually insects and flowers. But your photo here, was taken with a macro lens, and is a full-on shot. My photo club this month, the subject is macro, and I am struggling with how to define it. Any quick tips from anyone?

3 Jul 21 Reply Maybe because I cropped it so much, not sure either. Or focus point was off… I'll have to go check LR. Jul 10th
3 Jul 21 Reply Thank you Ruth, I definitely will work on the brightness, with thanks to Mary Ann's edit. Jul 10th
3 Jul 21 Reply Thank you Michael, I like her edit too. Jul 10th
3 Jul 21 Reply I'll have to try taking that out when I enter it into the PIDC competitions. Jul 10th
3 Jul 21 Reply Thank you Mary Ann, i like your edit. I do have a problem with editing skin tones. I do like that you took out the parking lot line, but when I enter competitions, we aren't allowed to take anything out. At least for the PJ and PT divisions. Thanks! Jul 10th

85 Jul 21 Reply Thanks for stopping by LuAnn! This was a fun day shooting. Drone video is hard! Jul 31st
85 Jul 21 Comment How did the panorama turn out? The editing of this image is well done, but I'm not sure what the subject is for the photo. What is your focus?
The building and the fence could be cropped off to focus on the cliff or the rocks below.

85 Jul 21 Comment Glad that Drone 7 is still flying! You have a great eye for finding cool old barns. I want to see into that barn and see what's in there. Probably would make a great abstract.
Think about posting a short video too since you are making videos. I'd like to see the area these barns are in.

85 Jul 21 Reply Don, don't forget we all have the ability to post a video. Doesn't have to be long… Jul 23rd
85 Jul 21 Reply Yes I was working all week for Golf Channel at the LPGA event in Sylvania. I've worked that tournament for a few years now. But I never knew about this fort and when I saw the sign for it, it sounded familiar. Probably from your email when I uploaded this photo. Lol. Jul 13th
85 Jul 21 Comment Hi Lou,
I was just in Toledo this past week for LGPA golf and I went to this site. I had just happened upon it driving around after work and it was open late on Saturday. I had uploaded your photo already, but it didn't stick in my brain that it was the same place.
Very cool seeing this photo now after having been there. The white tents weren't there of course, but it gives that side of the site more depth. You must have been on the other side of the river?

85 Jul 21 Reply Thanks for watching the video. I don't usually do a lot of videos, but the kids jumping in the surf was cool.
I actually didn't use a frame grab, I used a jpg still that I took after the video was over. I guess I wasn't clear enough about that in my comment.
I think that the jpg was better quality than the screen grab for editing.

85 Jul 21 Reply Thanks Bob! I do like that straight down look. Breaking the rules is always good 😉 Jul 8th
