Thanks Bill. As a general rule I usually choose not to clone out things in my street photos. To me those signs add to the sense of place. But that's just me. |

I think their stories are best told in pictures. Keep doing it. |

I like the close up perspective and that the face is framed with the painter's arm really draws me in. |

I love the colors and the fact that one person is wearing funky socks with sandals. |

Here's one I took on a photo walk about a year ago. It's been accepted to a galley exhibit titled "The Human Condition."
To me, the juxtaposition of the homeless man sleeping under an abandoned building with a sign proclaiming that we're Building a Brighter Future makes the story. |

I think creating stories about the plight of homeless people is a valid endeavor. I don't pursue it but I take it when it presents itself.
I converted your photo to B&W and made some quick contrast adjustments. To me it's a better visual. How do you feel about the B&W ? |

Thanks Stephen and Jim and I will look up Thomas Struth. In these winter months I enjoy going to museums and creating stories. |

I agree with Stephen and Jim except that I usually convert my SP's to B&W except when color is an important part of the story. For this photo, I'd likely choose B&W.
You asked about Lightroom. To me the most powerful ability of LR or other post processing programs is the ability to adjust specific parts or the photo (local adjustments) in addition to adjusting the whole photo (global adjustments). I would suggest you learn how to use the adjustment brush, the radial filter and the graduated filter. Using those tools will allow you to add contrast, etc. in a way the just using e.g. the global contrast slider can't do for a photo. |
