Gary...oh what a great eye!! I've seen several images from this area....but none with the impact this one has on me. I do think you wee smart to go BNW... I think it adds to the mood ! Just a special image!!!! |

What a great image Ian, I love the composition you used as well as Mother Nature's original. I believe this would be called a natural tide pool ....but not sure if that is accurate. I love the way nature has over time eroded the rocks and made a very interesting foreground. I do think I would darken the sky a touch to add the complement the drama that nature has provided you!!! |

I think you were very lucky to get out , and your story is as interesting as the image. Glad that you were able to document and still get out. Quite an experience and you even got the shot you wanted!! |

Absolutely stunning! Northern Lights ....still a dream I've not fulfilled. Beautiful. And then add to that the Star Trails, Just Incredible. |

Rainbows are so incredibly beautiful! Your image does them justice! Whenever I see one I will run out and attempt an image. But in Florida the background is always YUCK! Flat, over populated and uninspiring . Your background makes the image very dramatic! Well done! |

I do like your version of the image, and I have taken almost no Cityscapes, so your thoughts are appreciated. The way you cropped it certainly makes one focus on the buildings instead of the bay. The vignette is almost imperceptible....I notice more the changes in lighting which does make it standout more. Thanks for the suggestions. |

Thanks Dave, I rarely take City Scapes......so I couldn't critique one fairly if I tried. I so rarely do cityscapes, but this was one I could not walk away without some images. I loved Iceland and would go again in a heartbeat. The people are wonderful and the island's inhabitants are primarily based in Reykjavic. Once you leave the city there are miles and miles uninhabited. The geology there is incredible....Icebergs, caves, volcanos, and waterfalls everywhere. People are genuine and most speak English. I highly recommend. And I have given up on my 850, gone totally mirrorless (just can't part with the 850 camera though). I'm shooting so many birds given I now live in Florida, and the weight finally got to me. I switched to Sony and really love them. |

I've been to Costa Rica three times, saw the three toed sloth the very first time (and I also did the Zip line that trip - never again!!). I took some shots...but they were so bad!!! Getting a clean shot is difficult! Had you tried to just replace the white background with a plain blue sky? I wonder if you would lose that perfect sharpness??? Nice JOB!!! |

What a beautiful area....and I'm with the others, why would they make a dump at a water spot? Very interesting. You have captured the sadness and the beauty of that particular area. Well done.
But we humans have not been kind to Planet Earth and it's beginning to show in too many ways. I wonder if our Great Grandchildren will be able to survive on earth. Between the heat and forever materials/chemicals I suspect we will have no choice but to find another planet or get wiped out. |

Gwen, great catch...and I really do like the body position. And those little guys are SOOO fast. That flower is one of my favorites...hummers like them and they pop so nicely on the images in contrast to the darker hummingbird. Great JOB!!! |

My photography "mentor" says it's almost impossible to freeze their wings even at 1/3200 and they are mostly in the dark so the ISO needed ends up making noise unbearable. They move so fast, esp. small hummers are 80 beats per second. So I was not surprised about the wings. |
