Thanks Ray....I see exactly what you are talking about. This was done using a mask and I will certainly try and minimize that darker area. Acacia trees have very little space between the leaves and limbs so does not surprise me....I will indeed check to see if I can minimize it.

My apologies for my lateness...had a hard drive failure with all of 2025 images on it. Still awaiting replacement (second one...first one would not boot up). Fortunately I use Backblaze for backup so once I have an operable drive...I'll be back in business.
Beautiful image of the Tetons....while I've been to several National Parks, I've not made it to the Tetons...YET! The B&W really makes this image pop and the reflections in the water is awesome. Congrats on this beauty! |

I love the image and ICM.....only wish I could be as successful! Ive tried a few times and decided it was not my skill set, I can capture a bird in flight like a pro (or almost like on)...but ICM is unique and requires a great deal of patience. You have done both.
I really like the sky in the image, don't feel as compelled to retain the trail...BUT I can understand why you would want to include it. |

Just pure simplicity and detail in the same image. Awesome shot!! Even if it was unexpected.....nothing like giving it a try.....congrats! |

So...on to your image Butch. Beautiful place ...not sure I would have ventured to such a remote place and then encounter the storm! If I had made all that effort I know I would have tried for some shots...but I would not have stuck it out that long.
I agree with Ian that I would have cropped it differently, and I really do like the second image you posted. BUT it does not have the impact of the first one, just not sure how you would have gotten it with some space at the edges....unless you did a panorama .....in those conditions I still think I would have given up and high tailed it out of there as soon as you could safely. I guess I'll have no fortitude ! |

Sorry Im so late....this was a very rough month. I had a failed LaCie Hard drive (4 months old.)....they are still attempting to retrieve my data. Would not remount and all of 2025 images on it. Fortunately I use Backblaze and have a backup there...but at this point no drive to download it to. They sent a replacement since it happened beyond 3 months....which also didn't work. They are now sending me another as soon as the old one arrives back! What a mess! |

Agree with everyone.....Simplicity at its finest!!!! Love the colors and beauty. Totally agree about roadless rule....I commented earlier this month, spoiling the beauty of these areas with mining would be a travesty of great proportions. Very sad about National parks and protected areas! |

Elephants are the most fascinating creatures and you have captured their majesty nicely. And your image clearly shows the family bind that exists among elephants! I think that you have over sharpened it a little too much, but that may have something to do with your painterly effect. But every one has their preferences so I would be interested in your thoughts while you were processing the image. |

The Horned Grebes are special!!! I've only seen them in Kenya. In SFL there are only Pied Billed Grebes but I can't resist shooting them. Nice image and love those babies embedded in the MOM!!! The ISO was very high and I'm sure you were dealing with a good amount of noise, not to mention very dark grebe and very bright water...so given that the image came out pretty good. I might have added a little more sharpening to just the Grebes... |

I already did that ....the otters right out of the water are super dark. I'll post the original and you can see what I mean. The were in sunlight and I was in shade on the ground. I do agree about cropping in more....but as it was I cat off two tails, one the mother , and one pup. Do you think that would be too distracting? The number are one apart I was shooting on high to get some of that face. |
