Just a fantastic image! Excellent clarity despite the conditions at the time, and you've captured the lonely spirit of a deserted Lighthouse.
As far as your light spots....I never do any really fine work like that in LR. If I have to remove something my go to is Photoshop. All the updates they done lately have really upped the ability to do fine touchups and masks that it would require. They have improved LR too, but it can't compete with PS (I'm sure that was on purpose ). The good thing is you can do and redo until you have it like you wanted. |

Im not sure that I would have had the "vision" to capture this, and while I enjoy landscapes I find that my eye is much to constrained to think this creatively! So kudos Peter on this marvelous image! Apparently a popular spot for many! It reminds me of the Black Beach in Iceland. Most likely because of the transition to BNW. A special image, Peter! |

Welcome Ray!! And a beautiful image to start with in Scapes.
We relocated to Florida in 2017 and I miss the stunning images with rocks and hills ! While the starburst drags my eye into the top of the images.....but there is so much interest on the hill and rocks that my eye flows back to the remainder of the image. This is a really magnificent spot and I'm sure my patience would have waned quickly having to wait long hours to assure a spot. Your patience is admirable and the wait certainly justifies the time. |

What a beautiful area to live and experience the fall weather. It must have been a beautiful place to live...the image is well composed with the multiple layers drawing your eye into the landscape. It is hard to find a more appealing subject to most Americans ....Fall leaves! I miss the color changes living in South Florida, which I'm sure you experience now living in AZ. |

Thanks for your thoughts Butch, and I really do understand about the story ....but I can't get beyond the orange on the walkway, which is why I added the raw image . And because of my question about color. It was an interesting place, it was just one of those unique spots that you want to see once, when you're in the area. Probably one of the most diverse trips I ever been on and would seriously consider going again!! |

Thanks Ray for your input, while I hear what Butch is suggesting about adding to the story, the main reason I removed them was the orange color on the walkway...it does drag my eyes to it as well. |

Talk about pollen load! WOW WOW WOW.
I didn't know that beetles went after pollen...I thought it was just the bees. And then the red pollen is like nothing I have ever seen before. Do you know what the flower is? I will often use iNaturalist to ID flora , they do a decent job most of the time!
Your image is fantastic, and Gwen's idea of darning the background would "highlight' all that red. Great JOB!! |

Ive heard so much about this phenomenon and not had anyone I know (other than some professional photographers) give it a try. Nice to see that other folks, not just Pro's, go to capture it! I've heard it can be hit or miss and is almost always crowded during this time.
Congrats on being at the right place and right time and executing a great shot! Really interesting phenomena and I love the image. Rainbows are special ..... we see a lot of them in the rainy season....and they almost always stop me in my tracks and my brain says shoot, shoot, shoot! Gotta love nature's bounty! |

A superb image that shows me why he captured your heart! Everything is spot on and crystal clear! Unless my eyes are deceiving me....I think desert is located right in front of him (isn't that a bee at the base of the leaf? )
Gorgeous image Great shot. I still have not finished going through all my images from March, nesting season here in SFL interrupted my efforts. They are pretty much over, giving me more time to process! |

Well composed and great subject! He looks so content now that he has been able to scratch that itch! You've captured the seal at the exact perfect moment. Eyes closed give that look of sheer pleasure! I've not used the 200-600 but it certainly is an impressive lens! Have you given in and gotten the A1-II? Several of my friends got it upon release...and Im not convinced I care about precapture...but they are pressuring me telling me Id be crazy not to get it! |

Great shot of that main Puffin, in my hierarchy the top two most interesting birds are the Puffin and the Burrowing Owl. Now you have seen them both! While I've yet to capture a Puffin.
Processing, I would most certainly remove the out of focus Puffins...your main one is so endearing it makes the other two unimportant...which is why you shot it that way. I did a sample....just to let you compare. It took me 2 minutes. I removed them in PS and changed the lighting on your subject just a small amount using shadows. This keeps your eye on your subject!! You can try and remove in LR, I just find it is a lot better in PS. |

OK everyone ...I think what you are interpreting as blurred and or muddy is because I shot it at 5.6. This was taken a fair distance from the rock and I chose 5.6 to assure I could get the butterfly and turtle in focus, without worrying about the foreground. So I would have had to bump it up to f6.3 to get that in focus as well. But everyone seems concerned about it so I will give it a try cropped. |

Let's see what everyone else thinks. Is there a particular reason you felt it should be cropped off? I did not like the bottom right of the image, but loved the water on the left side....which is why I left it in. But I did consider that option.
As for turtle following the butterfly....you are correct in that it "looks" like he is following, I just caught it at the right moment. It continues to fly to the right and the turtle's head stays in the same position :-) |
