I so hope that you were able to see wildlife as well! I have found that taking images while on Safari always help me better understand the area I am in and the uniqueness of every area I visit. Botswana is a place I have yet to visit, and hope that it will be in an a future trip, mainly for the wildlife, but also to see more of Africa.
This image is intriguing, and different (not in a bad way) but it is nice to see more than just one highlight of a country. It's hard to believe this is just a small segment of that continent and country. The colors are so uniquely Africa and you have captured it in a unique way! I also love the information you shared about the Hippos. Fascinating image that made me smile. and appreciate other's opportunities to capture images of this globe! |

Peter ...not much to say...except this is a STUNNING image! Just magnificent colors and you were able to bring the darker areas up in post process to make out detail. And I am most certainly not in favor of removing the road. It took my eye in to those darker areas and kept me from only focusing on the bright area.
Patagonia has a prominent spot on my list of where I would still like to visit and photograph. But the temperature makes me hesitate. I have a good photography friend who was there 3 years ago and I asked him about temperature ...... his reply was "cross it off your list, you would never warm up again"! He was of course laughing at my aversion to cold climates. |

Ian, I think this is a very beautiful pink sunrise image......and speaks to me of some of my favorite sunrises/sunsets. I like the rock pools since they do add texture and reflect the sunrise beautifully.
I also realize why you made it a panorama. You were trying to incorporate the jetty as well as the larger sky. And you titled it by the location. But if it was the colors of sunrise you were capturing perhaps you focus this image on sunrise colors with a standard landscape size and then do a pano of the whole scene with people included.
To me you have two photos here and should consider making two different versions. It is a beautful place and beautiful sunrise!

I've been to the National Park, but not sure if it was the "east". We visited Sedona and then went south to the Saguaro NP and was amazed at the beauty in such a truly hot location. It really is a beautiful place and you have captured its beauty.
My one thought ,which might be crazy - have you considered cutting off the right side a little past the central cactus of the group? The reason I suggest that is it would give you a very nice leading line to the left and the beauty of the cacti is sheer size and symmetry. My eye wants to go right to see what I am missing and id can't compete with the left side. I love the rim glow....that is beautiful |

Great shot of the Limkin! love to watch them gather snails and then consume them! Also easily recognizable from their call.....a baby crying !
Love the image I really like the composition, the mussel in the mouth, the reflection, and the water drop, all in perfect focus. once I saw Sarita's comment I went back and looked at the reflection and that water drop is as perfect as the one coming off the bill. Love it!
Around my neck of the woods (mainly Loxahatchee NWR), the Limkins usually stand on water edge for Apple Snails and compete with the Snail Kite for how many they can eat! |

Interesting, I too got a Motmot in CR. I got some great images. I've been amazed at the variety in the species. And they are beautiful!
You image of the bird is tack sharp and beautiful. The eye has a catchlight and the feather detail is awesome. I assume you were using the Sony 300mm, I've not worked with a better lens!
Great image!
I will say the Generative AI to enlarge size and remove debris is very good. I use a combination of LR and PS. I've found the removal tool in PS far exceeds the capability of LR. But I also like the expand better in PS, depending on extent of increase.

Great shot of a beauty! Raptors are one of my favorite bird to capture.....and this was a great find! I assume you had a very good guide! They make a big difference.
I love the foot and claw in. that position really brings the shot to life!! And I know your preference is to keep it lighter, just like mine is to keep it a little darker...but if (and please understand if ) it were my image I would indeed dampen the background to get the bird to pop a little more! Just like you would take my image this month and lighten it more. Please know I respect that it is your preference.

He looks positively forlorn....couldn't ask for a better moment in time! Very nice framing on him and his unkept look (most likely from the rain) adds to his expression.... I can just see him complaining.....not only did she kick me out, she did it in the rain.
One trick I use when I think the subject is too dark....In LR I choose the Masking tool and select subject then just pull the shadows down until it lightens just a little bit. I find it works much better than using exposure or shadow slider in the "Light" drop down and in this image would only target the bear.
I'm impressed with your ISO that you were able to recover as much detail as you did. So It may not work, but it is a fall back for me in many situations. |

Thanks Gwen, I will give the beak a try, I think you are correct, I think the light on the beak is what I find annoying.....that would probably help with my concern .
I totally agree with you on the 300 mm, I love the lens and I can manage it so much better than other heavier ones. Which means less blur from my motion and I can last a whole lot longer with a more manageable weight! I used the TC's when I could keep the noise down. Overall my biggest challenge was really the fog when we were trying to capture the Quetzals. I found that to be a challenge from a color perspective. Nothing to do with camera, I just had not shot in locations with heavy fog. |

I actually took a couple at 1/7000 and they turned out pretty sharp (but I had great light and working with a prime) . Also this was in the cloud forest and flashes just don't work with fog....only muddy it up more.
I never use a flash on a hummer or for that matter any bird. Sorry...but not in my book as acceptable. And these guys are moving VERY fast and you apply a flash and could blind them for a second and they end up in a bad spot. |
