I applaud you for trying....my one suggestion would be to crop the image (perhaps even in half...since you were looking to document the river, this would allow people to see what you were going after. On the flip side, you have documented the Grandness of the Grand Canyon in the shot you've presented. Regardless it does show the magnitude of this glorious National Park. Nicely done. |

Awesome image! I love the colors.....they are so vibrant, the leading line of the women and the bridge going into the into the image is striking. I understand what BUtch is suggesting and if it were me, I would most likely get rid of some of the dead branches. But awesome image!!! |

All inclusive panorama for sure! I like it a great deal....and would have one suggestion, since I like to take expansive images like this and explore vicariously, I noticed what I think is a road at the foot of the rocks. I would be tempted to clone that out. It is bright white and when I saw it once, my eye kept going back to that spot instead of looking at all the other details. I'm impressed that you were able to hold it steady at 1/125, but that makes getting the entire series easier.
The sky is beautiful, so while it could be cropped lower, I think that is more a personal preference. |

Unique, and the landscape is barren and fits very well with a black and white image. Getting the entire horseshoe shape of the river is pretty interesting and the Fish Eye makes the whole scene stand out. Nicely done. I would remove the small partial ring on the left of the fisheye, it distracts from an otherwise great image. |

Dave, this is a beautiful shot....and given our winter this year, quite appropriate! Yellowstone is one of the National Parks still on my list to do.....hope it does not suffer from the staffing cutbacks.
Your image is well constructed and my eye clearly goes right to the tree, I actually like the lighter colors behind it, but I am partial to pastels. And for me fresh snow always has my brain going to bright light. Very nice image! |

WOW! Impactful image. The image embodies the power of those lightening strikes. I really like the use of B&W. I think it adds menace to the image and makes it embody the reality of the event. Nicely done. |

Now I'm seriously jealous! I have wanted to go to Jonathan Dickenson State Park to capture some shots of the Scrub Jays, still haven't made it! Really appreciated your information about them. And very sad about the feeding. I noticed that here at a specific park that frequently has nesting Owls and woodpeckers. They put peanuts all over the ground to attract them. Probably the worst thing we can do for any wild animal.
Beautiful shot, and bird. I would most likely have tried to use the eraser in PS to get rid of a few of the branches, just because it make the image very cluttered, but that is my "neatness" showing through. The bird his clean and sharp! Beautiful

What an unusual "flora", and thanks for sharing...it is a great image, sharp clear, and stands out from the background. I also like the way you have either taken the image or cropped it to give an angular upward motion. My eye goes from bottom left to right top. I think that adds some unique charisma! |

Gorgeous shot of the High Sierras! The image gives me the feel of them going on forever. I agree with Gwen, I would indeed bring crop out the sky ...it draws my eye away from the beauty of the mountains. Beautiful image, and enjoyed your commentary!
I also appreciate your description of your processing, Thanks for sharing your love of this country.

Reddish egrets are my absolute favorite egret , you have captured their personality and despite their antics managed a nicely focused page. I care not about the eye! This is about the personality of this particular bird. If anyone of us has not photographed them, they would not know how erratic and almost maniacal these egrets are ALL the time. I suspect they have ADD ;-)
Wonderful shot! I don't get to see them on the Southeast Coast, I have to go West or North to photograph them. They have them listed as possible birds, but I've only gotten them in Captiva/Sanibel or Vero Beach area. |

Gotta love Burrowing Owls! Once nesting slows down here I need to go back and visit one of our locations.
Your image is so nice and sharp! Coloring of the owls stands out nicely against the sand. and like Gwen, I too have been brainwashed about rule of thirds. I also agree with John, it would be great if you could remove the grasses on the left side. But the Owls are perfect!!! Great job and you cheered up my day!!! They make me smile! |

These birds are almost impossible to get the eye to stand out. And in this case I have already lightened it.....there is also the added challenge that his protective eyelid is still partially covering his eye. I will go back and see if that is possible, but I'm not optimistic. Also my mistake, I realized I did not discuss processing in the description. I had just gotten this image a few days before everyone had started sending images. And of course here in South Florida we are at peak nesting season, so I am out shooting almost daily. |

Leslie.....Out of all of them...most were easy decisions....blurry and too dark were TOSS! I got way more than I thought I had, given my experiences prior to this day. They are pretty close in demeanor to the Belted Kingfisher ....my nemesis! |
