I can always count on you........and it has been corrected. But thanks for finding it, I may decide to print it and would groan when it came back with that on the image! |

I know Dave..... Hindsight is always 20/20. Not to make excuses, but the harsh sunlight might have made that less than desirable! And at least you have a shorter trip to retake! |

Beautiful leading lines and composition. I very much like the angle as well. I feel like my feet are on the rocks and I'm standing there. Magnificent spot and you have certainly done it justice. The sky is beautiful and I can sympathize trying to work on the shadows and bright areas....mcuh like my image this month! |

I have never been to Tokyo, but this image is exactly what I would expect given it size. I am amazed at what an awesome image you were able to capture with so many obstacles. Lucky that the city is so vibrantly lit at night for you to have achieved that through a window and no tripod. Congrats! |

Beautiful image with scope and gorgeous sunrise colors! Love the layers and your eye is drawn in to the sunrise immediately. Then with the varying textures of water and rock you come back to the beginning. Nice! |

What a cool shot of one of my favorites pastimes, bird photography. One spot around here has a blind but it is intentionally hidden deep in the woods. Kinda spooky and I feel claustrophobic in there so I never use it, this is a totally different sort of blind and I imagine works quite well! I like the sense of isolation of the entire area so it was probably a great spot for birds. There is no question you have captured the "feel" of the place. Nicely done! |

I think Gary and Barbara have some good thoughts.....such as consider what your subject really was and see how you can focus the viewers attention on the subject. I know it is too late now but I might have considered using the front tree as the subject and gotten the image with the total tree in the front so that it would lead you into the image and the beautiful mountains in the back ground. Most of my images are birds at this point because I've been unable to travel and the #2 rule is never cut off the bird's feet, even if it is a "virtual" foot (i.e. standing in water give enough room for the feet). So same theory here on the base of the tree. BTW #1 rule is if eyes aren't sharp there is no good image. |

Great reflections and you can most certainly see the raindrops. Not sure where the canal is located but the spot certainly is lush and green .... declaring summer is here. An anchor in an image like this might be nice.....or perhaps taken with your lens not zoomed in, it might be that the view did not allow for that but I think I might have considered taking more of a landscape than zooming in on the trees. But the the image is certainly lush and reflections beautiful. Just some food for thought. |

Nice idea, but I tried in LR and it either looses the golden from the setting sun on mountain or washes out the mountain. I essentially tried various methods and I think the only way would be to take into PS and do some serious work. |

Nicely done, I usually use the Apple app on the iPad to process my images, no, it is not as good as LR or Photoshop but most of my iPhone images are those spontaneous images when I can't use a camera. Thanks for sharing that tidbit, I actually love Landscape photography, but in Florida there are only so many beach pictures you can take of sunrise and sunsets. |

Peter, Very difficult to get the eye visible...the black eye and the black feathers make it a challenge. I was able to capture one last week that actually has a catchlight .
The differences were minor, but I caught him low on the water, with the eye toward the sun, but sun was clearly at a downward angle (probably had some light reflection from the water as well). The setting were a little different Used F/6.4 to give a little more depth of field (but can't imagine that was significant, but don't know for sure). ISO 1000 and Shutter Speed 1/2500. But most importantly, I think, I used the smallest tracking spot to grab the eye. This was taken with Sony A1. |

That's why I try to throw in a non -avian subject often, but this time of year it is all about the birds .......our nesting season is almost over and things will go back to normal. I have so many images to process I cringe at the amount of computer work. |

Superb capture of this Broadtail. We do not get much variety of Hummingbirds around here, the only one I've seen around here is the Ruby Throated. And they re difficult to capture so I give you props ! I am most surprised that you were able to get the eye that sharp at 1/1000. I like the wings showing motion too. Both you and Sarita have great hummingbird shots this month. |

Mother Nature is at it again...amazing what she shows us all the time. Those clouds are magnificent. I use my iPhone to take pictures when I'm in the wetlands and see a spectacular landscape and I'm carrying my 100-400 mm lens only. It does a decent job and certainly one phone image vs. no image is a wonderful choice!
I agree with Sarita, I would suggest you increase the saturation a tad to see if that will help give a little drama to the clouds. Worth a try any way!
Again Welcome to our group!!

As a bird photographer I find the legs being cut off bother me....and I like the reflections ...I would have kept it the way you shot the image.....but that does not take away from the fact the image is beautiful in either format. They resemble the Flamingos seen in Africa...white with small amount of pink coloring. I am pretty sure you are right, it is dietary based.
I also really like the background, I have no idea what those trees are but they add a feeling of habitat for the birds. Nice image!!! |

For starters....Your original you sent and processed one do not match....I see a tongue on the original but not on the processed image....not a problem, but you might want to go back and process that into a completed image as well!
I too like to use the standard aspect ratios ....but in this case I would likely stick to what you've got. The shadow is so unique, and if you cut off the top, you would make it looked cramped.....so I would stick with what you have! Very nice sharp image of Pileated!

Sarita, this is so pretty.....the beautiful wildflowers and a crisp image of a hummingbird. The lighter flowers lead you right into the hummingbird and and then your eyes take in the rest of the image. Nicely done! Im surprised you were able to freeze the wings so well at 1/2000. But they are nice! |

Sarita,
This is a Least Tern, very small they weigh about 1 oz. and about 9 in in length. And very fast! And a Sandwich Tern is much bigger and usually sticks to the beach as far as I know. This was at a local wetlands.
And I found the same thing with LR Denoise, I had a woodpecker deep in the trees and had to shoot at 10,000 ISO. I could not get Denoise to clean it up without artifacts, so I tried LR version. Worked much better....the down side is the workflow is not great because it converts it into a dng which takes longer.....but in some cases I would try again. It does also not add that touch of sharpness that Denoise does.....but that's not usually my problem, I just don't like noise! |

I can actually crop this without losing clarity, I thought the sky was beautiful and compliments the all black and white focus of the bird. |
