Beautiful spot and very intrigiung image. Like the way the boats are reflecting and the fact that one has 2 people and the other 3. Provides additional interest and makes my mind wonder why the difference. I do agree with Dhananjay I would change the crop slightly to provide more interest. I would not crop out the pother boat...but that is just me.
The color is very interesting, almost golden in nature, I assume since the sun is just rising. Very nice image.

I love the ethereal feel of this image....the light rays are spectacular and the mist adds mystery. The layers provide additional interest and the repetition/[pattern of the trees are mesmerizing.
I agree with Dave though, I would have used PS to clone out the three small buildings. Not that they are ugly, just don't add anything particular to the image. The images can stand on its own and be just as powerful. Just my thoughts, and it's all in individual tastes. |

I now live in South Florida and have never been to the Dry Tortugas. But I have been to Key West and love the ambiance and general quaintness of the area. You are correct it would be a particular great spot for night skies. Maybe I will add that to my list of things I want to do since it is relatively close and would not take a long absence.
Now to the image, it reminds me of many of the forts in Puerto Rico but extremely well maintained. The building is spectacular....what is the arc in the center for? They should hire yout to promote the area!
Love the interest, the gorgeous water in the background and the "flow" of the image. Beautiful. |

You certainly capture intriguing images....it looks like it is holding up the Rocks. It is amazing what we can do now with images, far more than anything I would have imagined. Back in film days, I would never have imagined how far things had gone.
You submission made me do some digging and find a five year old image that I was never happy with and reprocess it. Thanks for the idea! |

Thank you Dhananjay. It has fond memories of a long weekend. This lighthouse is a 3 mile trek over sand and three miles back.....it has so much character and then I see the solar panels, which are so out of place on a crusty old lighthouse. It was somewhat of an overcast day and I never thought of it as a black and white, but you certainly saw that potential. I really like that version seems to fit with the crusty old Lighthouse! And yes that it a nesting seagull. They are enormous (3-5 lb) compared to the little gulls around here, they are Black Backed gulls. |

No, the reason it looks tilted is the landscape and it may in fact not be perfectly level to begin with since this is mostly on a sand base. They get a lot of storms but enough off the cost of Massachusetts to make them difficult to deal with. Predominately summer residents with a few die hard permanent residence. The island is deserted Jan.-April is my guess. I wanted the full image of the lighthouse and pretty difficult to get from the front....which is the beach. Those images I took all distort the lighthouse significantly. So I'm not sure if it is really skewed a little or not....
We came in from the back and up that path into the lighthouse. |

Peter, that makes such a big difference ! In particular since the Penguin on the right is looking up gives it more heads[pace to realize he is most likely looking to see if he has danger above......or more likely annoyance with the pesky intruder. Nicely done. I use that feature frequently and it is one of my favorites. I like to shoot as tight as possible....and that frequently gets me in trouble! ;-) |

I've not had the pleasure of finding these little guys! So cute and two of them. Glad you were able to catch both of them and had the f stop high enough to get both of them focused. And freezing the action nicely with that shutter speed. Nice image !! And great catch!! |

Getting the eye on these guys is much harder than I expected. The shaper of the head and the fact that they are generally coming from or going into the water also cause blown out highlights. So to achieve both the eye and no blown out highlights thrilled me!! As far as action….hard not to, they are NEVER still. Which is why I shot at 1/2000 sec. Almost as bad as birds. |

Those eyes captured my attention immediately! Your detail on the bird and flower is exceptional and your bokeh is beautiful. Sarita is right the color palette is stunning. What a wonderful capture and memory! |

This is all about lighting! And absolutely gorgeous shot! Even thought the detail in the bird is dimmed because of the lighting, it only accentuates the lighting even more. Outstanding job!! |

Beautiful shot of the penguins and the environment adds so much to the image! That water is a spectacular blue and adds nice contrast to all the white and black of the image. I think it makes it pop even more! Just love this!!! |

This is some warbler, I presume and they are tiny and fast. Lucky to get it sitting still for a moment! You have nice detail and even though severely cropped, still holds its detail. Nice one!!! |

Awesome shot!! So glad to have you back and clearly in good shape!! It was quite a hurricane season, and Dec. 1 could not come fast enough!!
I would indeed add some space at top. It would be pretty easy to do in PS with a content aware "crop". That tool can add space at top pretty easily (assuming you didn't have more to begin with). And the top is pure white cloud so pretty easy overall. But also agree that it is a fantastic shot and that small tweak would only make it better!
