Thanks Peter, hindsight is great and I did think about some options after the fact.this is also a great spot for sunset on the east coast of Florida. I've done some nice sunsets here, if there are clouds. If not it is pretty boring. This area is the Northern most tip of the Everglades and has kayaking options that I would so love to try, but completely out of my comfort zone. I have no sense of direction and can see myself stranded with no clue how to get back to the dock. |

Dave I kept moving around! I considered a pano shot on the iPhone but I've not had many that I've liked in the end. This was a desperation shot....but I was thrilled. I missed the group photo to get this shot.....but not worried, I was the only photographer of the bunch. It also was the Making Strides for Breast Cancer Walk that same day so I did that one remotely.....5k doing double duty! |

Ian, not your mistake ...totally my fault. I accidentally put it under next month, not about your gender or mine for that matter. When I put it in initially I missed the commentary, went back and added it but under the wrong month. Sorry!!! |

First and foremost welcome to Group 73!
Those dunes are incredible and from your description not the easiest to capture if you want to get shadows. I would love to know what the buildings are in the background. It almost looks like a "train" station. I had to convert to Ft. (10,500) to get a sense of how high you were....and wonder if the ascent is via that tram or train. The altitude would explain the cold.
It is great to see remote areas around the globe and better understand the environment.
It would also help if you include in comments your camera settings. Thanks and Welcome!!! |

City life! we tend to think of landscapes and ignore cities and what makes them an essential part of life in the United States. The rails draw you into the buildings and busy streets, full of the hustle and bustle of life in the city. How do you like your new camera? Don't know much about Ricoh so your thoughts would be welcome! |

Beautiful image. The rocks draw my eye into the image and the beautiful colors in the water make me go further into the color of the sky. And of course the smooth water ...notice it in the front , but see the power of those waves near the horizon. Nicely done. |

I don't think I've ever seen a landscape as magnificent as Big Sur. It has been a few years since we were there, but I agree that drive is one of the most rugged and magnificent in the States.
I love the composition on this image, the waves and the water draw my eye into the image and make me want to stay. You have a great image here, and I'm sure it will bring great memories over time. |

Dave , great panorama! After this past month I'm beginning to freak a little at clouds. Two Hurricanes in one month - unusual, particularly one in November. But both were bad and created some scary circumstances. We were lucky though and except for beach erosion the East of Florida got off much lighter than West Florida. But both sides of peninsula were impacted by both hurricanes.
I particularly like the shadows the clouds produced on the ground. I find it difficult to take my eyes off the clouds, but forced them down and noticed the shadows. You are correct the area is barren but still mighty in its size. Then of course those clouds immediately pulled my eyes back up.

The main reason I suggested it is the branches are out of focus, but like Judy said, it also goes to show the environment. I think it is very much a decision of the photographer.....and what they are trying to portray. |

If we ever get out of hurricane season, I might take you up on the offer. I know around here there is a population in Jonathan Dickson State Park. But with all that has been going on personally Ive struggled to find time. Hope you are recovering from your Hurricane and things are getting back to normal. Not sure how badly damaged your area was.....but hope for the best. |

I just took an image last week of a Phoebe! They re so cute. This is an excellent clear image with a great background. Nicely done, I love the branch as a leading line and you've a slight catchlight in the eye, and the creamy background sets it off beautifully. I would make one suggestion, the branch on the left is extraneous and does not add much to the image. I would either clone it out or crop in closer, my guess it either would work. But that is being picky, doesn't change the quality of the image at all! |

Oh my goodness, I clearly have never see a Buck shedding his velvet. In some part of my brain I understand why it looks so bloody, all those vessels in the velvet. I wonder if they are itchy and that is what generates them rubbing their antlers on trees trying to get off the velvet. All in all a very interesting and thought provoking image.... couldn't ask for more from this image! Nicely done! |

I love Stilts, have never heard the term Bubblegum Legs...but totally see the reason for the "moniker"! Nice clear shot and the "action" really helps tell a story. And your cropping is spot on! And I can clearly see the red eye. Nicely done! |

Beautiful Scrub Jay....I've wanted to find them and get some images, but not been able to do that yet! It is so nice and clear, showing almost every feather. I might have considered cropping into a portrait orientation and deleting the branch on the left....but you might have left it in to give a little more color to the image. Certainly not out of place and shows the type of tree it is on. I'm jealous since this is one I really want to see! |

Leslie there is no "real" sky, it is all reflection in the water. It is generally a very dark spot to photograph in early morning light, because of all the trees which hide the sun and keep light out. I just got lucky with the conditions to be able to pull it off. |
