Don't know whether you used an app to achieve this effect, but it is pretty remarkable! In general I shy away from city scapes mainly because I never can get the distortion straight. Not sure if you had in OOC but your end result has perfectly straight buildings! However you did it ...well done! I will frequently do the "opposing side for sunsets and sunrises (As evident in my submission this month). I often find the effect on the clouds is spectacular and you don't have to be concerned about blowing our the highlights. This is a unique and quite mesmerizing. You certainly achieved what you set out to do. Also love the boats int he foreground and the Ferris wheel as well, all add interest and tell the story of where you were. Nice! |

Never been to Machu Picchu and I've seen lots of images, it is fascinating . I was surprised that it is only ~8,000 feet high. I have significant altitude sickness and thought it was much higher so never had it in my thoughts as possible. This image and the surrounding mountains provide a nice frame of this section of the "city". My biggest challenge with the image is...it gives the illusion of not having a straight horizon. Not sure that is a fair statement since I have always felt that was the case in any image I have seen of the ruins. So take that with a grain of salt!
And yes the red plants really do add something to the image. |

Peter, Love everything about this image! I love to go out during super moons and see how much detail I can get of the moon. Unfortunately there is nothing around here that gives me that fabulous foreground. I am assuming that the long lens does not give you the distortion of the buildings that a wide angle does. But I would be interested to know if you had to do any straightening of the buildings with the lens you used. Well done! |

Ian, I really love the mood of this image, and the IR enhances that "scary" ghost vibe. It also enhances the aged look of the graves. It is am image of mystery and I really like that variety. In fairness, I know nothing about IR, but I do know I like the result. I like the composition and placement of the graves draws my eyes back into those trees. Its interesting because I would have thought my eyes would remain "glued" to the bright trees, but the graves hold so much interest I can't take my eyes off them. Well DONE! |

Ian, I really love this series of IR, despite my not knowing much about it. The choice of infrared to give the eerie mood appropriate to an old cemetery is perfect. Great image!!! I'm case you're interest Ian also shared another image in Scapes group 73. Welcome to have a look!! |

What a beautiful shot of the Monarch! Love the colors and the composition. Both are sharp and clear and so lucky he had just emerged from the chrysalis. He/she is perfect!!! |

What a fantastic capture! Im sure that chick was overwhelmed, but Mom to the rescue!. Nice composition and everyone is right that snake just makes the image, and not to mention it is attempting to swallow it! Cami, very nice image.
You are correct not takin out the branch in some competitions is not acceptable. But as I mentioned in Judy's comment that the guidelines for our group allow that type of manipulation. But it certainly up to the individual as to what they are most comfortable with. |

Perfect solutions....the horse is gorgeous! And getting him while eating with that head turned just perfectly....well done!
For those that are not aware, Nature Plus has less stringent guidelines and "hand of man" is acceptable unlike stricter Nature guidelines.
In fact as I looked it up for Judy, it gave me the idea that I really could submit my Gull. Normally I don't do that much editing but this was a unique situation! |

Beautiful!!! Not much else I can say! Not only are you spot on with focus, the butterfly is not ragged. we don't realize how ragged they become until you start doing macros and find all these tears in the wing. This specimen is magnificent. And the placement on the flowers doesn't get much better. Congrats Donald! |

Trying to get that perfect shot......don't you love how this one cooperated. Unusual for a Snowy Egret. For action you could not ask for much more. Great opportunity and you responded quickly.
I suspect what the others have mentioned is from Topaz. I find I sometimes get little artifacts that I don't like and decide instead to back out and just use Denoise. It does some sharpening but not as harsh as Sharpening AI. I also wonder if perhaps it is from he Teleconverter. I use the 1.4 on my 100-400 and sometimes find the result is not as good as I would like. Your shutter speed was also a little slow so Im sure you needed some sharpening. Lots of ideas...but still nice catch that many would love to get! |

I happen to love Spoonbills, while in Captiva I went to Ding Darling which still has Spoonbills and I believe some of them had dark eyes and some were the traditional red. I suspect its more about the lighting than the eyes change color. But that is just my perception. It might also be the young ones have darker eyes which makes the light even more important. I took one this morning at a local spot (Green Cay) and even though it was an older juvenile the eyes were red, but it had harsh sunlight on the face.
No matter this is a great image of the three birds, is the little one a juvenile Little Blue Heron? And I love the young Spoonbill with the mouth open clearly letting Mom know its hungry! Aren't they just magnificent birds? Thanks for sharing! A nice chat between the three birds. Ive noticed around here that Spoonies like to associate with other birds, particularly Ibis, but they are not particular.

I'll give it a whirl in B&W, never thought of that...but I'll certainly try to see what it looks like. And I did not come up with the idea, the bird actually deserves the credit. I might have thought of how to do it but seeing it first was all the terns idea!

Sorry Ill add that to my description I was using 500mm PF lens on my Nikon D500. And no no tripod because I was using high enough shutter speed that I did not need it, plus I had my arms braced against the boardwalk which had elbow high boards. |
