This is from the back side of the Lighthouse and there is no way to avoid trees at all. I have taken from multiple angles and this one image had the "preset Tree" clutter. I don't know astrophotography that well, but I know that I can't get the moon set (west) from the other, more commonly photographed location. It looks East (which shouldn't surprise anyone, It is situated for maximum visibility to ships/boats coming into various docks on ocean side. |

What a gorgeous sunset! The bridge looks like it goes directly into the water but I really like the POV on this one. I agree with Tom, I would probably remove the orange barrels, but do not think I would crop that drastically, just clone/spot removal on the barrels. I think the vehicles add to the image though, so would not remove them. The road is a great leading line into the water and sunset and mountains which I can't take my eyes away from it! Nicely done, as usual Peter!

I have a friend that likes to do night skies and he also enjoys doing the long exposures particularly to get the "blurry clouds and smooth water". This reminds me of one of his photos from the 9/11 monument in NJ (Hackensack I believe). It looks right into Manhattan. In your image my eye goes immediately to the bridge, thinking "out loud" what if you cropped out the building on the far left and cut out some of the water? It would still be a panorama but give the eye a defined end point? Just a thought. Water would still be visible but not dominate the image. What I don't know is if the building on the left has some significance....or were you focusing on getting the bridge span....technically you certainly achieved the smooth water and blurred clouds...just some ideas to play with the image.
I think the experimentation is one of the fun parts of photography....and I know you particularly like to try different things. I like the image and convinced you achieved your goal, which I like as well! Congrats! |

Not something I would have ever considered or more importantly thought of trying....but this is striking and will certainly add it to need to try! Perfect moment and sky! I love the frame's irregularity and stark contrast to the beautiful sunset. Very nice! |

Tom, I love this image...it is a perfect spot for photography. The magnitude is what draws me in and makes me want to look at all the details. The leading lines in this are numerous and bring me back to that incredible sky and mountains. I don't know anything about that particular camera, but surprised that you got that much detail at f/8.0. Beautiful shot!!!
I've not traveled to South America .....yet....only got as far as Costa Rico . It reminds me a great deal of some of the incredible vistas in Iceland, but not as civilized (ie not big population) and certainly not farms like this! |

We also have Scrub Jays in Florida, and I've yet to make a trip to one of the parks to get images. But it is on my list for sometime this year.
I happen to really love the bird's posture and focus. The image is interesting and thought provoking! You have to wonder what he was intent on. Nice image! The Title was probably a mistake on my part.... I'm a terrible typist. I have corrected. A high key because of the snow but you made it work well. . Did you actually take this through a window? If so I give you credit for having clean enough windows to take pictures through! I'd add a smily face but the website does funny things to unexpected characters. |

Beautiful image of one of my favorite AND hard to find subjects! You did a great job on capturing something really interesting as well as hard to find birds that are tough to isolate. You did a fantastic job of isolating them from the background and I like the action as well as how perfectly crisp these two are! Donald's suggestion about the crayfish is a good one to just make the "breakfast" more visible. But they are really small so not sure how easy to it will be to isolate them. Worth a try for sure, but Im not sure I could be successful in not leaving a halo.

We never get to see White Pelicans on east coast (in fact even Brown Pelicans are scarce but I would think in the fishing areas at the beach they gather). I get to see them when we go to Captiva (but I think the white Pelicans are early in the year). Mostly just brown in summer. But I've been over there earlier in the spring and was stunned at how big they are!. Lucky you!
Like the B&W presentations ... are they all mature or are the mature chicks? Can't tell from size context because the wings might just make the front one look big.
The image is really nice and your processing has presented these birds beautifully. Isn't it nice yto have them so close?

Wonderful processing of this image! You have ended up with a detailed image of this butterfly (maybe actually a moth) and the background is fantastic! It is incredible what you can do with a high pixel image today. .I primarily use a Sony 7rIV and end up with a 62-63 mb raw image. It helps having that size to crop in so much and still get a great image when you are done. I too use Topaz Denoise and Sharpen, though sharpen less than denoise. I use high ISO so that I can keep my shutter speed high (no way to get a decent BIF at less than 2000 shutter speed), so often really need Denoise to overcome the high ISO.
Very nice outcome!!! |

Beautiful photo, love the high key, Snowy Egret in flight with a fish in its mouth, and nice and sharp. I find that I really do like to occasionally like to show a white bird in a high key photo. It really works sometimes. This is one of them ! Great image and action! |
