I kind of like it as a B&W. I would not have thought of that ... |

Wonderful image, Debbie. At first glance I thought the plane was taking off and couldn't reconcile the camera setting to a moving vehicle. Then when I looked closer I realized it is on some sort of platform to make one thing it is just "leaving". Love the starry sky and the lights on the horizon! Nice image! |

I love the simplicity, the beautiful contrasts, and the lines of the rolling hills. I have one question.....is that a clock on the barn or some sort of shadow? I love the shape of the barn, it is unique and a nice compliment to the rolling hills. Beautiful! |

Love the leading lines and the interesting color of the "pool". I would assume from the spotlights that had been turned on. Is the "dock" totally surround the pool and I wonder how it drains out.....if at all. Surprizing that the temperature is that cold, but it does look cold and makes me want to shiver.....
The long exposure created an interesting sky as the clouds must have been moving as well. This is one of those images that puts so many questions in my head ....which BTW for me is a good thing. I like images that focuses my mind on what it is and why and how.
Nicely done! |

This is a really busy image, but when you look at your description and really examine it you realize how intricate the locks are and what it takes to get though the canal. The more I look, the more I find. I am facinated with the locks and then I think about what it took to build it.....pretty amazing!
Great testament to all of those folks that build it in 1825....WOW! |

Love the sunset....magnificent, and the depth of this image incredible. The sunset reflections on the different bodies of water adds interest. Have you considered perhaps lightening the shadows a bit more in just the center to give a little more detail to that area? Not essential and somewhat similar to what Tom was going after. With the changes in Lightroom in the 2022 update it is pretty easy to lighten just specific areas and I have found it to be very helpful in processing. It gives just a little extra oomph to very specific areas with the brush or gradient tool. Just a thought!
I must say that sky is what holds my interest since it is beautiful! |

Tom, I love the lines in this image as well as the colors. Those beautiful colored bushes in the front and back lead me directly into the mountains in the background. I am impressed with the detail you were able to pull out in the back in particular given you used a F stop of 8. You were judicious the shadow boosting and it really grabs to eye immediately! I also like the slight reflection of the mountains you got in the water. Beautiful image!
Just one thought that you might consider.... if you use photoshop at all, try either a content fill replacement on the middle left piece (the reason you most likely cropped), by using the Lasso to replace you will get more of the mountain in the background. Or the other thought would be clone tool or the healing brush tool. If you don't use photoshop you took the best option of cropping. Just food for thought. I use Photoshop sparingly, particularly for sensor spots and small things like this as I do not find it a particularly user friendly app, but I have gotten more comfortable with it and will use it to do small things like this.

I know Tom, I would much rather have put in somewhere off dead center.....but the remainder of the image on the right and left were way to busy. Do you think removing the boat would improve it. I also struggled with the sky on this one. When I tried to export, it kept tell me the image was too large, so I had to downgrade it significantly to get it to the 1mb. size and the sky looks funky if you enlarge too much, yet it does not in the original image if I export it at the 2-3 mb size.... |

I am so jealous, we see all kinds of Woodpeckers on the East Coast...but not had the pleasure of capturing the Red Headed Woodpeckers! And with a bug in it's mouth, Perfect!
I am not sure how much you have cropped, I would crop it tighter (so that bug becomes all the more apparent, if you have enough pixels, but if not it is really fine the way it is! Great capture! |

Little birds like this are very difficult to shoot. Ive tried so many times to get a good shot of warblers .....I almost gave up in despair! Just as you get focused on them they have flitted elsewhere! Great job in capturing this one!
Love the branches and clean background. My one suggestion..., don't center the bird, crop on one side or the other. I would probably crop on the right to get rid of the out of focus branch. I'd be interested to hear what others thing about it...but it is so out of focus I would rather have just the one branch "unattached"....see what you think and how others feel. But the focus is spot on and the bird is certainly a cutie! |
