73 Feb 22 Reply This was on a platform at the top, foreground would have included the railing so unfortunately not possible. Which is why I decided to try something new..... I got some spectacular images of the town below .....it looks like a dollhouse compared to the mountains. I really enjoyed Chamonix, it is a quaint sking resort. But my favorite place on this trip was Annecy, France. Town full of canals at the base of the Alps. We started in Annecy and ended in Milan. In-between saw Chamonis/Mont Blanc, Zermatt/Matterhorn, and Lake District in Italy. I would so love to travel again..... Feb 26th
73 Feb 22 Reply Tom, no did not use a filter. My photo buddy suggested you use an F/stop of >20 and the sun needs to be somewhat blocked so angle is important. That's why it took so many shots I was trying to get the maximum effect so I would move ever so slightly and take another one (Over and Over). What I can't remember is whether it is apparent in the viewfinder as you're taking the image.....I think I would have to try it again to answer that question. and I've not tried it with a mirrorless so I'm not sure of the difference when you have optical viewfinder. I'll have to do a little experimenting. Feb 11th
73 Feb 22 Comment Unique place for sure. While I get what you are saying I think I might have tried for two different images. Consider trying to get the entirety of one bridge and the sculpture, to me it would feel more complete. I also would consider using the spot removal tool to get rid of the 3 people (2 blue and one red coat). Totally understand why you would document this lovely place. You could also try a panorama to get all of it in one image...but the bridge on the left has more character so I'm just not sure if the right one is a copy.

If you only have this image you might consider cropping it off on the right to remove the second bridge and remove the colorful jackets since they are so small anyway, they would not drag the eye away from the the sculpture.

73 Feb 22 Comment Magnificent! Love the composition and with the angle you managed to achieve, you get to see several of the geysers creating steam, in addition to the main one central to the image. The trees with snow and that blanket of snow on the ground it is almost an ethereal image. Hard to believe that there are places like this so magical! And no people ;-). Love it! Feb 11th
73 Feb 22 Comment Beautiful image Ian....Im a sucker for smooth water, as you know. This one almost looks like it could have had some light fog as well, but that may just be the length of exposure. I like the composition with the rocks diagonal and the slightly pink sky . There is also a nice little tide pool in the forward rock that drew my interest. Nice One!! Feb 11th
73 Feb 22 Comment I like it! It makes for a unique and beautiful landscape. The Yucca draws my eye into the volcanic hill. the sky is beautiful and does not detract from the entire image since you have made it just a small part of the image. And I love that little cloud. Feb 11th
73 Feb 22 Comment Moab is an incredible place and this image shows off its remarkable landscape. You have certainly captured the area in all its glory! Love the sky and the incredible rocks. I was in Moab a few years ago and could not believe the beauty of the area. We did Arches and Canyonland. Attempted the climb up to Delicate Arch...made it all the way to the top and could not maker the last little bit ...fear of heights held me back from making the short trip around the mountain to photograph the Arch. Instead I did a little more of the road less traveled images of the mountain. Talk about a wuss ...

Beautiful panorama. My one suggestion might be to darken the the bottom right edge little. It keeps drawing my eye away from the trails and beauty of the mountains.

94 Feb 22 Reply I could see why that would have more interest since that is telling a story. Are you on Instagram, if so what is your "name"? Would love to follow you! Feb 13th
94 Feb 22 Comment Very nice image of a Hawk I've not had the pleasure of photographing! You have gotten the details in the feathers and it's nice to see the entire body from the perspective you have gotten. I too have a 1.4 tele and I much prefer to crop after and bring out the shadows. I find the loss of light with a higher F stop just does not work as well. I love the challenge of BIF and I can pull it off sometimes......other times I just can't get the right lock on. I usually will not use my Nikon for BIF ....rarely can get a lock on quickly enough so I rely on the Sony's large file and crop in post processing. The D500 is being mothballed, I will really miss that camera paired with my 500pf lens, can't be beat for great detail shots as long as the bird is stationary. Feb 13th
94 Feb 22 Comment I am so jealous......great shot of the owl! I love owls but they are so tough to find! We have some burrowing owls, occasional Barred or Great Horned but that's about it. Your image is crisp and clear and you show the habitat well.

Nice one Christine!

94 Feb 22 Comment I've tried photographing otters and I am amazed at how quick they are on land or in the water. You did get his eye nice and sharp and that is not an easy task. They are common on the east coast in unusual spots, almost all of the areas have alligators. I would think they are pretty attuned to avoiding alligators and their speed has to work in their favor.

I might have been tempted to use photoshop to get rid of the alligator (or cropped it out) . I was not even sure what it was at first. I know that I struggle with how high you have to set the F stop to get more depth of field on a prime lens. Not gotten a formula down and usually light is scarce enough that unless I want to crank the ISO way up it would be almost impossible to get all the noise out.

94 Feb 22 Comment Great image and the fish adds a nice bit of interest....Did it actually get it down. Pretty big fish...but then hungry birds find ways to adapt.

I've been to Bowman's beach (we spend 10-12 days on Captiva every summer with the whole family). I spend all my time taking images...Captiva sunrises and sunsets, Ding Darling, Bunche Beach, Turner Beach, and Bowman's Beach. Beautiful spots!

I agree with Just, I might add some saturation to the eye to make it stand out. But all in all a great image.

94 Feb 22 Comment Great color in the woodpecker, can even see a tinge of why they are called Red Bellied .......and the red head really draws your eye to the bird immediately. I do think toning down/warming the tree would enhance the image even more. The bird is sharp and clear and detail on the feathers is really nice. Great shot of this woodpecker. Does he have bugs in his mouth? Feb 11th
94 Feb 22 Reply Thanks Judy. I guess I was too intent on trying to get it in and didn't double check the image after I downloaded it! But I too loved the pose and the colors, clearly we are well into breeding season on this side of Florida. Though we had some pretty cool weather and I was a little concerned about all the eggs that hadn't hatched. But Im now seeing chicks on the early groups like GBH and Cormorants. Feb 11th
94 Feb 22 Reply My apologies. When I exported it I exported as 100k instead of 1000k. I have downloaded a new file to correct my error. this one is 754 k. Feb 11th
