This does show off the Badlands' desolation. And it is a very nice image. I'm not as troubled about blurred foreground but that is because I shoot a lot of birds...in Florida they are "king"! But I use it to isolate the bird which is not easy to do. I might have cropped this differently to get the Big Horn Sheep in the Rule of thirds Grid. I did a quick edit and it is really small so don't try to blow it up....but it gives you the idea of what I meant. It inadvertently also addressed Ian's issue. Welcome to our Landscape group! |

Dave nailed my impression of this image....Peaceful! It makes me want to walk on the bridge and see what is on the other side. The fall colors are beautiful and the reflections intensify the colors. Nicely done. |

Peter,
Not sure which campus this is...but this image should be on their brochure! The colors are remarkable and like Janos, I love that the grass sets them off nicely. Those trees are incredible and clearly have not just been planted. They must have seen many changes in the campus life as the years have gone by. The benches add a nice touch and invite me into the back of the image. The path provides a wonderful leading line and overall this image gives me peaceful fibes. How did you ver get it empty of students and visitors? Great image and unique! |

I frequently went into to Old Town Annapolis (Maryland) and our first capital as a fledgling nation. Many of the homes remind me of this image. Like Dave I love the steps that lead me into the image. Most of the homes in Annapolis have signs on them as historic buildings so there is no mistaking the era in which the photos were taken. I loved walking around Annapolis and taking images of the area and homes. It made me feel like I had stepped back in time, which is exactly what this image does for me!. Which I'm sure was the concept you were going for... I like the image, the way the paths and steps draw me in give it depth and dimension. I too would love to know why it did not make the "cut"! |

Incredible bridge ! The Post Box is quite unique and I wonder whether it is ever used. Seems to be in "a not easily reached location", but then you get no hint as to what else is around there. It certainly adds to the image, but the color is so bright it keeps bringing my eye back to the Post, rather than that magnificent bridge. I lived in Baltimore area until we moved to Florida and one of my favorite spots to photograph was the bridge that connected the Eastern Shore to Western Maryland. It transversed the Chesapeake Bay and was a scary bridge to drive across, especially in high winds (it was frequently closed to traffic for that reason - I believe it was a suspension bridge.. But it was a great landscape when the birds were out and casually strolling the waters edge. |

I like this of the Grand Canyon. It is so overwhelming when you are staring at that huge "Hole in the Ground" (my term since the first time I was there I was overwhelmed by the magnitude of the Canyon). But this gives you perspective and depth nicely. I also like the light hitting the middle ground. Makes those rocks "glow". I've looked at it quite a while and thought about the "foreground". What I like about it is that it grounds me looking into that scene. Is it necessary, probably not, but I like it there. Beautiful idea and execution! |

Im so glad you like the lens! I love it for most everything except Birds in Flight. I was using it this morning and just can't get a fast lock on with the lens, but everything else about it is superb. My only complaint is I've used it so much that I've worn off the names of the controls on the lens itself :-). I have to go and refresh my memory before I use it again. |

Warblers are one of the most difficult birds to photograph! Between their flighty behavior and the penchant for deep inside bushes, I waste more time trying to get one passable shot (exceeded only by a Belted Kingfisher) than most other birds. This is a lovely image, clear, sharp and well detailed! Congratulations, well done! |

Peter, this is the most unusual perspective, were you at ground level with him? Certainly appears to be the. case. I also love the Oxpecker in flight and in fact there is also one on his leg. . My one suggestion is you might want to take the highlights down some. It is very bright and lowering the whites would give more detail. I am adding one that I lowered the White Balance and took the highlights down to 0. I also played with the histogram to recover the sky. The image is nice and by correcting the white balance it becomes much more relaistic. |

Not much to say other than BRAVO!! Just a beautiful image of a beautiful raptor. The even lighting is so fantastic! And the detail is fantastic. Are you using the 500pf? It is absolutely my favorite lens hands down! |
