Carol, I rarely take reflections of buildings, but I commonly try to include a reflection of a bird in the water. Here in Florida most of our birds are water based...thus all the wetlands are a bird attractor. Helps with feeding, nesting, and bathing. |

Dave, its interesting...those poles on top have some sort of small fan shaped attachment on the top (looks a little like a feather duster) ...I have always wondered what they were for, but I suspect it is to keep birds from perching on top. One of these days I will have to go into the nature center and ask! |

You have no idea how hard it was to get level! I was lucky since I was not using a landscape lens, I did not have the distortion one encounters, but trying to decide which straight line to choose took a few tries. The only one I knew for sure NOT to use was the far left board walk since that is slanted downward to begin with. But that is also why I took so many shots (from many different angles) trying to get everything in that was reasonable and keep it as level as possible. It was an exercise in patience (not my strongest suit). |

Thank you Stuart, I am a frequent visitor to Green Cay, particularly during the winter when lots of birds are visitors. This is the first time I have ever encountered a morning like this with perfectly still water and beautiful sky.......doesn't get much better than this! |

That early morning light is spectacular. and the scene itself is beautiful and only enhanced by that light. The advantage to pano is you can get more pixels and broader coverage. I also would not have necessarily kept the person.... but I also think it would have been difficult to clone him out and might have made the tree look funny. So by default would probably have left him.
Panos are difficult and time consuming. I struggle to indicate in camera beginning and end and find I try to stitch together and it won't stitch because I added one to many at beginning or end. I just have to discipline myself better! |

Given the heat you have experienced this summer I'm sure this image resonated with you this year in particular. Nice study and like the black and white. The image says to me inclusion, boyhood friends, sharing, and enjoying the relief water can provide during heat waves. Very thought provoking image that makes me want to figure out what they are sharing. Nice image! |

The scene is beautiful, and like Carol I love the mist on the highest peak, but it may also be a cloud. The gloomy day makes the image a little flat to me, particularly the left hand side. I might have considered only using the right hand side of the image with the hints of a sun breaking though....not sure that would work...just a thought. There is significant noise and my guess is you did some noise reduction which coasted the "wormy effect" that Carol mentioned. |

I love the interaction and the background compliments the image of the siblings and play! The fur is well defined and the teeth showing adds a really nice touch! As a dedicated wildlife person I really love the image! Interaction, close up on the faces where the action is and "cute" little bears, how could it go wrong! |

Carol, beautiful image. Love the pop of the roof colors and it draws you into the image so that your eyes roam around the island/peninsula. The bird and the mountains in the background all add to the image giving you context to the beautiful area. Very nice image! |

Nicely done.....I just love the addition of the rowers in the image, it adds perspective as well as interest. It is such a magnificent building and most likely the first thing travelers think about when they think of Australia. So for me the rowing group takes away that mystique and shows reality of everyday life in your country. Love the light on the side of the building. Love the sunrise colors of the sky. Beautiful image, Ian! |

Beautiful! I've not been to GNP....somewhat adverse to the cold weather but I went to Iceland and really did OK. Just wouldn't consider going in the colder months. This view is stunning and well captured. |

Beautiful Owl and your image presents it well. Those eyes suck you right in, but then when you look at the wings and see the position this make cheer. Awesome capture! |

Osprey are my favorite Raptor! This is a great image of her and those water droplets frozen in time add to the action nicely! And if she had a necklace she is most likely female. My favorite Osprey photographer (Mark Smith) shoots them fishing and routinely uses between 3k-5k to freeze the action. I can sometimes get away with 2500 if they are gliding, but my action shots just don't come out as great under 3k. I do find with the yearlings which I shoot every year in Captiva,FL I can go lower, but they are young and stay behind when the adults go further north. I think they are slower because of their age and haven't fine tuned their skills and muscles yet. |
