I find change of scenery pretty calming and as long as I don't have to hike up steep terrains with nothing to keep me from falling ( fear of heights), I'm all in.....My logo on my Facebook page is "Life Begins at the End of Your Comfort Zone! |

I took this image at 5.4 because my original focus was originally on the harbor and home and the beautiful street lights, then I realized how beautiful the rest of the image was with the sky .......this was taken at about 9PM and it was very dark and some of the first images I had attempted at that time of night. So somewhat inexperienced at that point probably accounts for the F stop! |

Gorgeous image....Loons have always had a special place in my heart because of the movie On Golden Pond. And when I look at this image it brings back that movie because it personifies it so well. Sad movie but beautiful image. The silhouettes are fantastic and the sky is magnificent. I would also suggest you correct the horizon line and then see if you can't get it printed! Nicely done for sure. |

I lived right outside Washington DC for several years and loved to go and see the Cherry Blossoms every year, but the crowds made it almost impossible to photograph. But by the time they thinned out the trees were beyond peak....so never got to take other than a minor shot with them in the background.
I would agree with Dave, Giving a little more room on the right side would have made it more symmetrical since clearly you were focusing on the foreground trees. Did you take any of the trees in the background? I would have come back with several different vantages but I happen to really like this image. I am not bothered by the streetlights, I think ti gives a somewhat magical feel to the image.
And your planning is was outstanding. Nice job Peter! |

I am very much a lover of silky water and really like this image. The rocks are well focused, great leading line into the sunrise with the rocks. This image draws me in and gives me a stunning view of the power of water and the beauty of the sunrise together!
Really very nice image Ian! |

Unique perspective and very different!
Drones are for me just annoying when Im shooting, given that I usually just do wildlife and they are actually banned in most of the areas I shoot because of the danger to wildlife. Our guide in Iceland was a big drone user and does some incredible stuff with it, but it is a different skillset, one that I do not possess. So nicely done! |

I've reloaded ....it has not changed, might be the car lights ...I would use a clone tool to remove that small slash of white. And apparently the download did have it..I did not zoom in far enough and it's very pale, then when I upload it to the website it becomes much brighter. Sorry, I will check with webmaster to see if he has any ideas....but the simplest would be to use the clone stamp stool to remove it. |

I understand the frustration on the car lights.....but it is reality. The one thing puzzling is the download did NOT have that white space on the bottom right. I'm going to try and reload it to see if it corrects....but I have no idea why it did that. Very strange. I do love the image and even though it is annoying to have the car lights there.....it is still a beautiful image of the Watchman(from other photographers images). I've been to Arches and Bryce but not Zion. And from what I've seen....I think I'll wait a while to try. They are super busy now. |

I have some that are unedited jpgs from when I first started and that is not much better! I did not start using Lightroom until 2012 (not even sure when it first came out)...but no skills then anyway. Every year gets better. I get that perhaps using your LR brush and using the adjustment brush might help a little but you might have a lot of noise given it is a Jpeg.
I happen to love the image...and the reflections are superb. I would not have given anymore room at the top. I have a guide that I try to follow that the sky is only 1/3 of the image. And in fact with the reflections you have much of the image taken up with that sky reflection......so I think it is just about right. But we all have different preferences |

Your comments were puzzling so I went back to the original and those same dots are on the unedited raw image. I suspect they are debris from the lake when the water rises....but I will say the sharpening certainly made them stand out more....but they are some artifact from the environment is my guess. |

Confession to everyone here....I have a cataract in my right eye and it makes everything more yellow than it should be.....so I have trouble distinquishing the correct color. This was just pointed out to me on my last visit to my opthamologist. So I am going to have to do something about it before long, just have to find some time to work it in. So what you see as not warm enough I see as way far up the scale of warm. I kept thinking it was the color calibration on my screen and while that is easy to fix, the cataract will take surgery....have to figure out how to compensate to get the image colors right in the meantime! |

Ian, it was playing with me and copied my head position. So of course I got carried away and tried to see if he would mimic several of my head angles. And he did, these guys are very "people" tolerant, but I still kept my distance and used a long lens. I was laying on the ground to get some of the images, including this one. These little owls are about 8-10 inches high so pretty small, but I could watch them all day! |

What an impressive hawk and you have brought him to life. The expression is wonderful and the concentration unbelievable (as only hawks can concentrate like that). Great capture and beautiful detail on the bird. I might consider changing the sky if you use Photoshop. You certainly can't go to a bright blue sky but might be able to add a little more mood in the background with either sky replacement or just playing with the highlights in LR.
Nice catch for sure! |

Beautiful bird, Christine and he really does stand out. I'm not sure how many pixels you had to work with...but I might consider (if I had enough pixels) cropping in tighter. Sometimes that just isn't possible.
Im not sure the species ever visits Florida but it is one beautiful bird. Congrats on the capture! |

Aren't they the best things in the world to photograph? I spent a morning in Broward County earlier this month and had to tear myself away (it had started to rain). They are just an incredible species that put on a show for you. Here they are very acclimated to humans except the parents being super vigilant when there are babies in the nest they pose for you.
This is a touching image telling a story and I love it. The one thing I would have done differently is cropping less. You cut off the tail feathers of the one on the left, I might have cropped to make sure they were still visible. As Don suggested a vignette might also then focus in the the faces a bit more.
But really great image!!! |

Beautiful dragonfly. I find it is difficult to get all four wings in focus partly due to DOF and partly due to movement but you have gotten this one sharp. And those eyes are fantastic!
Great image and the color is incredible! |

Great colors on the background they compliment and show off the Snowy Egret very nicely. Love the Golden Slippers, wing angles, and well focused throughout the bird. Great image! I see these guys regularly and love their pluck and personality! |

Sarita Great action shot of this beautiful bird! I've not had the pleasure of seeing this particular woodpecker in Florida. Ive captured, Downy, Pileated, and Red headed and enjoyed them all. It would have been great to get one on a tree, but this does not take away from the quality of this image. He is well captured, crisp and clean and superb eye with a catchlight. Suspect he was searching for insects.....Nice job! |
