Dave I love all the lines in this image! I think it is as much about the habitat as the Bison! I just took a short landscape lesson that was talking about NOT using too many horizontal lines .... and this popped up as I was visiting Marilyn. I certainly can relate that lesson to this image! |

I'll try changing the canvas size and use cloning. I had some space in the original but the wonky way they stitch them together deleted it. I get, it but wasn't that skilled in Lightroom in 2017 and have learned that trick in the more recent future. So ill try. |

Matt, I really need the longer reach (which is why I have the 100-400mm). for birds because the Sony AF outperforms anything Nikon has....I just wanted some flexibility to be able to have something should a Landscape present itself when I had the Sony with me. Perhaps I'll give either the 17-28 or 28 -75 a try. Of the two do you like one better than the other? I'm thinking maybe the 28-75 |

You are correct, because of the orientation of the sun and the mountain in between this same glow never appeared (except a minute tip) on the Matterhorn. It may well be related to time of year, not sure about that, but once the light reached the Matterhorn the other two no longer had a glow and the Matterhorn while lit up did not possess the glow that the other two peaks had. I remember that only because I was really disappointed that I could not get all three like that. It was really magical on the other two and thought all three would be spectacular. I was clearly set up to do the same thing since I was already on a tripod and set to do another Pano.... And by the time when the Matterhorn had light , the sky turned a vibrant pink...go back and look at 12/2017. I submitted just the Matterhorn and its reflection and the pink sky. |

I would go back in a heart beat, we did Annecy, Fr, Mont Blanc, Matterhorn, Itay - Lake Como and Maggiore, and finally Milan. All were exceptional except Milan was just smoggy and not my cup of "tea". But if you go back to December of 2017 you will see the full image of just the Matterhorn and reflection. This was taken off a higher ridge trying to get all the three peaks and the lighting. It is a great spot to hike and the city of Zermatt is beautiful! Just how you would picture a quaint village in the Swiss Alps! |

That is a superb image...not much I don't like about it. The street leads me into the Space-Needle and that sky is magnificent. The painting on the building only adds interest and clearly defines Covid as the time period. I really love the story telling of this image. Could you share with us the original before the painting filter? I like the painting filter, it gives it a great deal of depth, but I would love to see the original to compare. |

Really like the "frosted" trees and those beautiful orange colors in the ground from leaves, I suspect. And what I think is fog draws me into the image and gives it that other-worldly feeling. My eyes is immediately drawn to the righthand tree and then pulls me into the background. I like the image a great deal! |

I too went out and shot this "event" and did not get an image this good. I took my images immediately after sunset and used very different settings and had the same problem with Jupiter being blown out. But all in all given how difficult this was...I applaud your result and the hope to do it again in another 60 years! The biggest challenge is no matter how big the lens, the crop makes this difficult. Maybe by the next one they'll have better cameras! |

I love all the leading lines in this image. Just beautiful lighting and still managed to keep the buildings visible, crisp and clean. Love the colors as well. I am a little confused though, was this taken at home or in Russia? It makes no difference but just curious. Was this taken on a tripod or hand held? And finally what do you think the 28-75 lens. Haven't decided to get a landscape for my 7r4 but considering. |

Full Disclosure: Because this required a severe crop the image was extremely small (116kb). I offer and used Gigapixel on it to see if we could not make it a little better for viewing. I have included his entry as original #2. |

Not sure I know the answer to that for sure.......because this is a superb image and you were most likely in the wild. Larry Treadwell may know so I'll email him and see if he can comment on your question. |

Mark, Nice shot of Bison (I think). Might want to share where you took this as well a few more basics like what this is.....I think a Bison, but that is a guess. What camera and handheld or tripod? And how do you know it is a young bull? I've clearly been way to focused on birds!
I like the placement, of the bull, particularly given he is looking to the left and you left more space on the left side. The clarity of the bull is good. You might want to use some noise reduction on the background you've got a fair amount of noise, most likely because of the ISO.

Beginning to show breeding plumage, but no green on the eyes yet. I think your WB is off a little. I personally like the WB on the original better. The final is a little too yellow/golden. I used auto WB when I was exporting the file attached. Just appears more realistic to me. I like your cropping, you've got the majority of the bird in the top 2/3's of the image and lots of room to show where he is looking. So overall a nice image of action with the Egret trying to balance on the branches. It is possible that my display has a problem (I have had problems trying to calibrate my LG screen - so don't take my opinion as gospel) ...so lets see if others think the WB is off. |

Not much constructively I can add to this image. The colors are superb, the interaction between the two excellent and that creamy background set it all off to highlight the subjects. Love those eyes! |

Ive never seen this species of duck...I'll have to look up more info on it...but it sounds like it swallows the shell whole....is that correct? I am presuming that the duck still had its nictating membrane closed since the eye looks peculiar, it is something I see in other birds. I like your placement of the duck in the frame and love the water droplets showing the action. I think it could use a little noise reduction. Or is might be that the shutter speed was not quite high enough (which given the water droplets doesn't make sense) so I think that less likely.

Thanks for your constructive suggestions. I actually tried a Luminar sky and decided to skip that. But I like the changes you made to the bird itself and will make some changes on my original. I wonder if I just dodged the sky a little to darken it a tad. This was not a great sky and very early in the morning...perhaps Ill try that as a compromise because I like the additional color in the sky. It was a great deal of work but in the end I think the result is much better than the original. I see many of these hawks, but rarely do I get to see a grab and land with the catch. He was really swift and slick! His posture told me he was trying to protect his much needed breakfast! I've included my try at duplicating. I think I might want to dodge the face a bit more but better. |
