Like the composition (but agree I might have left more room on the right if possible). Understand that is not always possible. Your leading line is outstanding, the river leads you right through the frame beautifully. I do not think you blew out any highlights so I think the brightness was not an issue. Just more of problem in the moment. You did well.
One thing I might have done differently ...when you are trying to get scene like this I would have upped my F stop to maybe F/13. Gives you a better depth of field and you could have done aperture priority so that the the camera choose your other settings. Just some thoughts since I have finally gotten to a point where I can consciously make a choice particularly with a landscape. Look on You-Tube for some videos of How to use Aperture priority. That might give you some ideas of how to.
all that being said it is a nicely composed image and very pleasing to look at! |

You gotta love that pink coloring in the sky in the morning. Last night I went out to photograph the Convergence of Saturn and Jupiter and could not resist taking some shots of the sunset that had many of those colors.
I love the many layers of this .....and to top it off you have that sail boat anchored on the right. Im not sure how still the water really was since the boat was actually moving some and got blurred, particularly noticeable on the mast (I think that is what it is called) while in the water it looks pretty still. I would use LR brush to get ride of the halo to the right of the island. Just darken it a little.
Just a beautiful scene, and love the detail in the rocks on the island. |

This gives me far more than I have ever seen of the environment at Macchu Picchu and is beautiful. Seeing all those mountains in the background is a WOW factor for me. I get serious altitude sickness so I would certainly have to go prepared with medication which is why it has not been on my bucket list. Thanks for sharing Janos. |

I very much like this composition. I love the snow covered trees in the foreground and the beautiful old building in the background with its golden lighting. Perfect for holiday card for sure! I've noticed my 7rIV has a lot of noise...most likely due to all those pixels, but Denoise really makes a big difference. I use it on many of my images.
I think the tower is a bit slanted but you could correct that with framing since your trees are pretty flexible. |

It also might give greater emphasis to the wind turbines which I kind of like. |

I'm behind with trying to get through the holidays in a safe manner! Much more of a challenge this year. Not sure I can add much Peter than WOW! Just a stunner, I love the leading lines of the wheat into the old barn and then that stunning sky.
The one suggestion I had might be to reduce the size of the sky so that it is not 2/3's of the image. While it is absolutely beautiful would you get the same message across without dwarfing the barn? I'm not sure if it would work but food for thought. |

I did pick up on that. What I was interst4ed in was which sliders you use....but you have answered my questions and seems to me not much different than you have tried. But I did look at your image this month and you are correct it really did make a difference. Ill keep trying ]. thanks for the info. |

I have attached your revised image here. You could have done this yourself. If you would please read the information at the top it would tell you you could do that. |

Thanks, I find shooting birds in wetlands, particularly during mating season, generates really busy backgrounds. We have rookeries with as many as 50 birds to a tree and try as I might, they are never serene backgrounds. I'm not a skilled PS user but I use Lightroom extensively. I will only go to PS to clean up sensor spots or serious cloning of branches that get in the way. But like I said I'm not skilled so I rarely do it! |

I have posted the rules for PSA in a comment below. Hand of man is permissible. Those is far less stringent than NANPA. Ready the description in the response above for what is allowed. |

Peter I've tried using the brush using decreased clarity and sharpness and have never liked the result. What sliders do you use? |

Beautiful example of mating behavior in Great Blue Herons. I watch the nest building here in South Florida every spring. The lighting is superb and the shape of the pair is very appealing. They are fascinating to watch and this is a moment in time that clearly shows that relationship. Very subtle yet beautiful. Welcome to our group! |

Everyone you need to read the information at the top under Categories. I encourage everyone to explore those drop downs they all have great information about the concept of digital dialogue. If you look at the information I send out in your welcome email I try to present as much as possible but it is worth going through each category.
This is Nature Plus. Which states:
Nature Plus 9 This departs from the PSA Nature Division in that, instead of the restrictive PSA rules presenting nature, these images of animals, flowers, and other images from the natural world can show the "hand of man." Hybrid plants, animals at zoos and game farms, nature scenes with a fence, and other images not allowed in the Nature Division can be presented in this group. I will also send this out in a general email. |

I have, there are some negatives especially the slowness to autofocus on birds in flight. It is particularly difficult when you have a light bird against a light background. For me that is probably the biggest one since I am still working to perfect birds in flight. Since this was my first prime it took me a while to learn how to find my subject. Having used zooms for a long time where I zoomed in after I located the bird was a tough transition. But for me having weight that I could manage was a critical factor. I like the lens and love the bokeh.
One interesting note is I tried the 300pf and was not thrilled with it, mainly because of the bokeh
I clearly would hesitate to use a teleconverter on it though. I also have a Sony A7r4 which I am still learning. And still trying to maintain muscle memory for the Nikon so I switch back and forth regularly. Hope to eventually get comfortable with the Sony like I am with Nikon. Doubt I would ever desert Nikon. |

You've frozen the action beautifully! Love the face. And the water with its ripples is very nice.
My only suggestion, I would apply some noise reduction. By reducing the light getting in you introduce noise. I generally use Topaz Denoise AI. If you've not tried it worth a shot. It might do well with just noise reduction in your general post processor.
Im not sure but perhaps the original is actually not noisey but when taking it down to the lower resolution for DD may be the only reason.

Unusual vultures for sure, and I think they were posing for you! I've seen lots of vultures in Africa but never sitting together, peacefully. Great opportunity. Birds are both sharp which may reflect on the D5 capability, but I would never get both eyes sharp with them being on different planes. Maybe its just deceptive and they actually were on the same plane. Nice job! |

Nice cardinal and the perch is great! Love that extra light shining on her face. It helps to keep your focus on the bird. Trimming it on the right side a little would help in my opinion since there is not any. information in that region. But I would only crop keeping the bird still to the left a tad...but that is me.
How do you like the 200-600? I have the A7r4 and 100-400 and have considered getting a larger lens, but I'm concerned that the weight would be unmanageable. Do you only sue with a tripod? Thanks!
