I love the saturated sky! Black and whites not bad, but you lose the dynamic nature of the dunes imho. |

I stared at this a long time just taking in the expanse that you have captured. I would be interested in what time of day this was taken. I assume the sun was behind you? The gray is just OK for me.....but since I am not sure what you changed it from hard to say whether it looks better this way. Some of it may just be personal preference.
I love the sand dunes and the shadows and light playing off all the dunes. How would it look as a Black and White or perhaps Sepia? Just trying to think of possible variations that would be attractive. If you want to post one in a response with the original sky color it is easy to do so using the Choose File option. We might all feel differently if we saw the original color. I love the dunes though!!! |

You will never see an alligator on the beach they are relegated to the wetlands, Janos. I don't think they like the salt water. But I would have loved a sail boat on the horizon, but unfortunatley it was not a good morning for sailboats.
And indeed the clouds were moving since 5 minutes later there was an incredible storm on the left (out further in the ocean) so that was a consideration that I forgot to mention. I really wanted the clouds more than the anything else with the slight pink from the non-exsistent sunrise. |

Ok, so I really like it. Yes it is busy, and I think perhaps the moon is a little big, but you disclosed that you took a separate photo to get clarity, because there is no way you would have that clarity in this scene, but it works for me...I love the detail you managed to capture in the cityscape. I swear I could see into some of those windows to what was going on inside. It is clear that there is little in the way of sheltering in place ;-). This looks like a normal busy evening in the city. The lights and road leads you into that canyon of buildings and then that moon. I may be unique but I really do like this capture! |

Please everyone note that the one labeled original is not the original just a second image that Debbie wants us to compare and contrast. |

This is a tough one.....But I think I will end up going with your gut....that road is just spectacular, drawing you into the sky, but it also gives you more of the autumn colors on the foliage.
The View also has those tree branches on the far left that are distracting and that little silver/white object. Not to say you could not remove them pretty easily with Photoshop, because it would not be hard. I had a mentor that would call that Border Patrol. Try to keep extraneous items that do not add to the image.
But nice images .... |

I don't think there is a more iconic shot of the Golden Gate Bridge. Your execution on this one is beautiful, love the slow shutter speed and what it does to the water. You even got a small reflection of the colors from the bridge. And of course the bridge draws you right into Sausalito. Such a photogenic city, I rarely do cityscapes but I think I might if I go back to San Francisco sometime after the Covid Crisis is over. |

Beautiful spot and love the ray of sunlight. But I also really like the original with that little pond on top of one of the rocks.....I think I would be inclined to do the processing on the original and not turn it into a pano...not to say the pano isn't beautiful, because it is......but I really like the impact of the rocks...but that might relate back to why I was disappointed in mine because the rocks were covered by the long exposure.
Regardless I love the image and the little bit of history of Botany Bay. It actually rang a bell of remembrance from my history classes in school. |

Well you've managed to make me cold! And I'm in Florida with 85 degree temps! Of course we just had Tropical Storm Eta hit last night and it was pretty scary overnight. But we are back to sunshine today.
This is a gorgeous shot and has so much excellent detail. It really does make me wonder how cold it really was.....Do you live close to this location or do you just go there to for a period of time? Not sure what city you call your home.
Everything draws me into the beautiful sky, but then I want to fro back and look at the detail of the ice. Nicely done!

Thank you Ian, I found the one on the top left and that is most certainly a dust spot....but having trouble finding the one on the bottom, could you be talking about the stick? While not a dust spot sure looks funky and will remove it but want to make sure that is the one you were referring to......all those clouds make dust spots a real pain to find!!!
No offense taken at all, I would point it out as well. |

Totally understand, kind of like my dolphins that had some blown out wake. The dolphins were clean and sharp but the wake was blown out. Not likely to get that shot again, so I live with what I've got and happy to have that. Great memories for me because I love dolphins.
And for the D5 and D6 they are just way to big for my hand and weigh too much :(. |

Sorry, I have been a little delayed, my PC has been giving me problems. I made the mistake of updating to Big Sur and had many things to clean up.
Larry has given some excellent suggestions. I very much like the way you framed it with the tree trunk acting as a leading line, but I find the tongue blur very distracting. I recognize this was a once in a life time shot so it will always remind you of that uniqueness. I have quite a few like that.
I'd also like to add something about the d850. I agree it is too slow for birds in flight unless you add the grip with an extra battery. I can't manage that ergonomically so ended up purchasing the D500 for BIF and subsequently the Sony 7rIV. I use both The grip adds significant weight and increases the profile of the camera as well. I still use my D850 but predominantly for landscapes. So I'm wondering if Larry was using one with a grip which would explain the difference in speed perception. |

Unfortunately tripods and Monopods are not feasible in this location. Right now in particular, it is a boardwalk with room for two people abreast or one adult and two children, and right now it is one way only with the covid restrictions. It is used by both photographers and walkers. I have seen people use a tripod (in normal times) and it is very intrusive to people walking by. any other thoughts? I considered a bean bag that could be placed on the "handrail" but not sure if that would help. This lady was buried deep in the tree with very limited light. |

There is a bit of motion blur on her back wing but I'll be honest that did not trouble me since her face and in particular her eye were so sharp. I shot at the low shutter speed because these guys really like to hide in the trees and not out in the open, so it was very dark in there. I do not like to shoot a high ISO because noise drives me a little crazy. And she was pretty stable overall or I would not have even attempted a shot.
I fussed with the green leaves a lot and when I tried the paintbrush to darken it, just looked awful. I even tried changing the actual green color with hue and saturation. but I could not get it to a place I really liked. I might try to get rid of the branch, I can do that in Photoshop with content aware. l'll post it afterwards.

Beautiful portrait of the Big Horn! Great deal of detail on the face and coat. Agree if you have room on the top a little more would be nice so it does not look quite so crowded.
But overall excellent image. |

Very interesting interpretation of a mushroom! Probably one of the largest mushrooms I have ever seen, or is that just an illusion since you have it cropped tight? I like the way the backlighting highlights the underside of the mushroom. And how sharp and clear the image is overall. Nice macro of the shroom! |

Love this...the birds are sharp and clear, the expression is priceless and thier coloring is magnificent ! Our Cattle Egrets don't get quite that colorful. I would assume they are a pair and she is letting him have it for not paying attention! I do like having the background there to give me the context that this might be breeding behavior. The background does not trouble me because it tells me what is going on....Great shot!!! |

Very nice image of this gull. Great reflection, and eyes are sharp. I would suggest you offset the gull a little by cropping off just a bit more on the right. That would bring the gull's head closer to the "Rule of Thirds". Nice job! |
