I personally like it much better with the tree removed. I would agree with Peter if you at least had a part of the trunk but with just random branches with nothing to ground them I think it looks much better. It is a real stunner! Beautiful, Nock. |

Peter, try the Denoise AI, not Sharpen AI. I think you will find it far superior to anything on the market for Denoise and sharpening. I tried the Sharpen Product and thought it was pretty poor, but a professional bird photographer recommended it to me and I've never looked back. I think they allow a trial version and I would highly recommend you try it. I think you will see they have come a long way from their original product AI Clear and it is head and shoulders better than the Sharpen. Since I am shooting birds I often find myself with high ISO so when I tried it I realized it also sharpened. |

Totally understand about the overwhelming size. I have one shot in Iceland that has a road leading up to the glacier with a car on it and it is almost incomprehensible. I also felt that way about the Alps....you never knew where to look first! |

Point well taken, Easy to remove those red buoys. I think I would take out both, not just one. That is a tree branch and I thought I had removed it.....but guess not! Since you spoke up, the birds are blurry (they were moving fast - almost dead center) and my shutter speed had no hope of getting them even close to focused...... would you clone those out as well? Pelicans are very active right before the sun comes up and do a fly by every morning. Though this was the best morning. I try every day while I am in Captiva, even if it is such an ungodly hour of the morning, just hoping that the horizon will be like this. I usually only get one really spectacular day .....
Not sure it is going to happen this year..............house is reserved but not sure how it is going to play out. Would be the first year we have missed since 2011. |

Yes, it is an amazing piece of software. It sharpens and DeNoises exceptionally well. Using it on the raw image makes it even better. |

Very special lighting and sky! Such perfect conditions, and great luck on your part to get them to all come together! The detail in the canyon rocks is amazing. I love this image.
I don't know whether it is possible to clone out the trees on the far right ...they are a bit distracting.....you could just crop a tad on the left side to remove the branches. Since there is no trunk they look like they are floating in air.
Overall a beautiful image. |

I'm not a fan of filters they are cumbersome (and I'm clumsy enough) and with the Nikon 850 I have an incredible dynamic range so I tend to accomplish the same thing post processing. There are many folks who swear by them but I've not been converted, yet. Most of my images are animals and nature which also makes them not as useful! Perhaps someone in the group can chime in! |

As I mentioned in Ian's post this is "Cold" month for our group. Three of you have submitted images of ice and or glaciers. I have been to Diamond beach and the surf was so rough the day we were there I was not willing to put my camera down on the ground to get that beautiful effect of the wave, I know, chicken right? This is beautifully done and love that smooth water from the long exposure. Stunning image! |

I guess this is cold month for images. Both you, Peter, and Janos have "frozen images". I have only been to Iceland to see the glaciers and even at that went in the warm months. I don't blame you for not taking your SLR, don't think I would have risked it either.
I wonder how this would look in Black and White? I suspect it would lose a bit given the aqua hue of the glaciers and that deep green of the moss. The composition is very nice with leading lines into the frames. I might consider touching up that one spot 1/3 of the way in on the top from the left ...it draws my attention away from that leading line. |

This is a striking image in Black and White. I am amazed at the desolation of the area and would think it is not a busy place except for photographers. Almost looks like it could be a "moonscape" taken by one of the astronauts on their short time on the moon.
How long were you there and what was the average temperature? I would think you went through batteries like never before. Very interesting place....I had to look it up to see exactly where you were. Siberia .....and it is the deepest lake in the world....fascinating. Thank you for sharing. |

I've not been to Death Valley, but it looks like an awesome place.
The clouds add lots of texture and agree I would remove the bush as well. It is well suited to a panorama.
I have two suggestions - one is I would level the foot of the mountains, I am very distracted by the angle of the base.
Have you tried this as a Black and White (or sepia perhaps) ? Since there is very little color I wonder if it might not look striking in monotones. |

Nothing shameful about this image. Yes, it is noisy, but have you tried Topaz DeNoise AI? It is phenomenal and I use it all the time. I have attached the image after taking it through Denoise, just remember it is a very small file that I started with and in fact with the original it would be even better. It is an awesome application and can be standalone and is super easy to use!
Love that you caught it as it was coming up behind the bridge. The composition is wonderful. I love to take images of the rising moon and I struggle with the bright moon vs. the dark scene. I find that I use my exposure compensation to help with brightness of the moon vs. the rest of the scene. Ive also resorted to metering on the moon and then bringing the rest up in post processing....talk about noise .....
I am glad things are easing up out there, we are still in lockdown although they say we are going to phase I of reopening in Palm Beach County next week. We started much later than you did out there! |

Yes, some of the water is blown out but I tried everything to minimize it. Nothing really worked. And I was in a precarious position while shooting, hanging out the side of the boat so a lot of manipulation was not a viable option. The whole story on this is the mother and baby dolphin and I will try it again this year if Captiva/Sanibel is open to visitors and the dolphins cooperate. So while I get the technical side, I stand by my love of this image. It was harder shooting this than almost any image I've ever taken. This was on open waters with a speedboat going very fast and you never knew where or when this pod was going to surface. So boat moving, dolphins unpredictable, and me hanging out the side of the boat. I accept part of the wake was blown out. And unfortunately this was taken late morning.....there are some blown out spots on mama and baby but I was pleased to get them both sharp given the circumstances. Please keep in mind that wake they are in was from the boat we were shooting from! |

Great image of a Snowy Egret. Clearly in breeding colors! Your cropping is good but I would suggest leaving a little more room on the left since that is the way he is looking and you have loads of room. I would still keep it portrait just allow a little more room.
The detail is great and the white shows up nice on the green background. |

Nice image with the owls clearly visible and the tree acting as a leading line. The feathers are clear (even though the fuzz is not really true feathers it represents the youngster actual "pelt" for want of a better term. Those claws are impressive and the top one is hanging on for his life. The one eye you have is sharp. |

You are so lucky to have them in your backyard. Makes the lockdown not as ugly. I feel for those northern states where they are unable to get outside....oh well spring is here and maybe we will all be able to enjoy a little more outside time.
I am pretty sure he is giving you the evil eye! So the image is great for a memory shot since it is very difficult to see the owl, but they are tough to capture because they are not particularly cooperative. The challenge is that I am not sure there is much you can do to make this image clearer, the owl eye is pretty sharp. I would be there trying to get as many shots as possible to get one that has more visibility of the eyes and body.

I have no idea what flower this is, but the photography is superb! The clean background, stem serving as an excellent leading line, and sharpness of the flower is fantastic. I am always amazed at what nature can do without our intervention! Fantastic shot. |

Beautiful bright image and the detail on the Bee is well done. I will caution everyone this image is cropped really tight and VERY small. It is only 83kb. So as you comment remember if you zoom in you will see grain. The bright yellow brings you into the image immediately and takes you right to the bee, The colors are bright and stand out.
If any of you use LR I would suggest that you export using the No larger than 1000 for size and 1024 on the long side to get the best out of your image given the size constraints. I think in the latest PSA Journal they actually have an article bout exporting for website viewing. Check it out. |

Just a beautiful image and so appropriate for the month of Mother's Day. The detail in the monkeys is incredible. And such a tender moment between the two. Is the Mom cleaning bugs off the ear? Very nice job, Sarita. I really love it. |
