73 Apr 20 Reply I think the pano enhances the image....that front portion of the water has limited interest, so you are directing the focus to where you want the viewer to rest and keep their eyes. Then the falls make your eyes travel right through the entire image. absolutely love this shot in its simplicity. Apr 15th
73 Apr 20 Comment The color in the sky and the beautiful painted hills are exceptionally pretty. Also like the multilayers in the image. they lead my eye into that beautiful sky. I assume the sun is behind you on this image causing those beautiful wisps of pink. Just a beautiful spot and a very nice image to reflect your visit. Apr 11th
73 Apr 20 Comment Peter this is a stunner. Every thing in the image leads you into that beautiful sunrise, I personally would not remove the center aisle because it has some beautiful reflections of the sun the closer you get. I like the oil paint filter it adds additional interest to the image. May I ask where you were when you took this, on the ground or standing. I almost get the feeling you were fairly low but can't quite decide. Regardless magnificent image. Apr 11th
73 Apr 20 Comment Just a beautiful image, Ian. You know I love long exposures and the clouds are beautiful with just a touch of blue sky showing. Don't you love it when you can predict the sequence and adjust to it with thoughtfulness.
The falls are a beautiful leading line into the sky and the image gives me a feeling of peace and serenity. Love it!!!

73 Apr 20 Comment Beautiful image that takes your breath away, probably literally as well as figuratively!
Not sure about the climb down which was tough on the knees, but the climb up was probably not a piece of cake either. Not sure what the altitude was but I suffer from serious altitude sickness :-( which makes things like this difficult.

The lighting is spectacular, the composition wonderful, and very crisp and clean.

73 Apr 20 Comment Beautiful image, fantastic leading lines into the sunrise and all the cloudy formations. This is a moody, cold, desolate area and you manage to make me feel that desolation. Stunning in its simplicity of colors and textures. Great job, Janos! Apr 11th
73 Apr 20 Reply I actually have several stepping back further that include lots of other boulders, but they did not have that golden light.

I am a much different photographer today than in 2014 and have different equipment. For staters I would use a much different lens. I have a landscape lens (15-30mm), increase F stop , shoot on a tripod, and extend the exposure perhaps to get movement in the c clouds. So lots of things I would do differently and hope that I can get back to try some different options.

94 Apr 20 Reply I'll let others chime in as well, but I primarily use Lightroom Classic. It took some time to get proficient but it is pretty routine at this point. I occasionally use Photoshop, but I am not at all skilled, just a dabbler and to me it is very difficult to use. I mainly use it for the healing brush to remove unwanted items. I also have several Topaz, but they are expensive because you have to buy each individual component. What I find I use all the time is the Denoise AI. I personally don't use most of the others and haven't purchased most of them. Apr 14th
94 Apr 20 Reply David, that was my crop and I'm sure it would be possible, but i'll let Sarita make that call. I suspect she would use a different crop. I only used that one since it had the abstract reflection. But the original probably has plenty of pixels. It was just the small size and noise that generated the soft image on the first go round. 94 Apr 20 Comment First and foremost, welcome to our group, Mark.
This is such a beautiful portrait of this coyote. You have captured his soul. I just want to reach out and pet him. Love the grass and the crop is perfect. His eyes would benefit from some lightening a small amount. Sue said it best ...you have captured his character! Very nice job!

I sympathize about the Kingfishers, I think they are the devil incarnate. Their whole goal in life is to avoid you capturing a shot of them. The only time I have been successful is when they are sitting on some tree stump. In flight is pretty close to impossible.

94 Apr 20 Comment Nice placement of the heron in the image, beautiful bird. I love the position of his wings, was he taking off or settling in? The beautiful green behind him sets him off nicely. Is this breeding plumage? Great shot!

I take a lot of Great Blue herons and our wetlands are invaded by Iguanas so there is little to no green in our background, since the Iguanas eat all the leaves off the trees. Again this was a new bird for me so I I had to research a little but it is clearly a kissing cousin to our Great Blue Heron, South American style. I love to watch them fish and make nests. Unfortunately this year Covid -19 has taken most of our wetlands off the safe places list and closed them. Oh well next year perhaps!

94 Apr 20 Comment Great capture, are these donkeys? Love the flowers in the grass and the position of the animals. The colors are fantastic (nothing beats Mother Nature in spring for green colors)! The first animal acts as a leading line into the second animal, drawing you into the image.

I agree that I might crop to make keep you eye on the animals which are the subject of the image. You still would get the beautiful colors of nature and keep your animals the center of attention.

Great image.

94 Apr 20 Comment What an astonishing capture. I've not attempted hummingbirds unless they were more or less stationary because they are so difficult to nail. You have done an excellent job of getting the bird crisp and clear. The feather detail is fantastic and you even got a catchlight in the eye.

The colors are very nice and there is good DOF. I shoot a lot of birds and getting a clean background is very difficult. Nice job.

I don't see the halo that Sue suggested but it could be an artifact from having to reduce the size to meet the website requirements.

94 Apr 20 Comment Great image of the cheetah devouring breakfast! It is apparent this is a juvenile with all that extra fur. It is sharp all the way through and colors are perfect! You nailed the eye and caught it at the right moment.

But I also agree with Sue, my eye continues to be pulled right to dissect the kill rather than keep my focus on the Cheetah. I would consider cropping it to the legs.

I am a big advocate of keeping everything in context with what was going on but by keeping the legs visible you are allowing the viewer to understand without taking your focus away from the cat.

94 Apr 20 Comment What a beautiful bird, I've not seen one of these storks before. I had to go and look them up after I got the image! So much fun to see new and different birds. It is wonderful to capture the animals/birds in one of their normal habitats doing what they normally do like fishing for food. To me, behavior is a critical element Ito add to animal photography of I can capture it. And the reflection adds a nice touch.

The focus appears a little soft, but I suspect it is the ISO that caused noise which cuts down on the clarity. Have you ever tried Topaz Labs Denoise AI? It is a program that you can uses as a LR/PS plug in or on its own. I suspect you cropped as well and the small image size just exacerbates the noise problem. If you want to send me a full size image I will see if I can run it through Denoise to show you what a difference it can make. I tried it on the original image but the size is so small iresult was not optimal. It is better but not ideal.

I found I used the Denise a lot in my Africa images because I kept my ISO fairly high to go along with high shutter speed. I'm sure the F-stop could have been higher but then your ISO would have to be higher too. So sometimes it is a balancing act.

94 Apr 20 Reply David this is titled Nature + and the description is: This departs from the PSA Nature Division in that, instead of the restrictive PSA rules presenting nature, these images of animals, flowers, and other images from the natural world can show the "hand of man." Hybrid plants, animals at zoos and game farms, nature scenes with a fence, and other images not allowed in the Nature Division can be presented in this group. So even if these are Farm animals it would be acceptable.
