They are always somewhere near the river bank. That is the only place we saw them. I was surprized at how clean this background came out. Particularly since it was taken at F/8. But I wanted to make sure I got the whole bird sharp. I have found the sharpest image is usually 2 stops up from the maximum aperture and in this case it is 5.6 so I stopped it up to eight. |

The reason I had the shutter speed so high was I was trying to get the bird in flight. We saw him flying and they tend to flit a lot, so I kept the shutter speed high thinking he would take off again, then of course I realized he had the bee in his mouth and knew no more flight shots for him until he had managed to consume the bee :-). That took a while since they remove the stinger by hitting the bee against a branch. Though it is interesting since according the the reference I checked African bees do not have stingers. Go figure. |

Beautiful shot! So many things to draw me into the photo. Love the reflections of the sky in the windows, the plane taking off, and the interesting architecture. Beautiful composition. |

The colors and reflections in this are beautiful. By putting the people in shadows makes the colors stand out even more. Very nice image, and sounds like others thought so too! |

Nice capture of the Great white egret. You have nice separation of the head from the wings, both wings are visible, and everything is sharp and clear. Phtographing birds is not easy, I am still learning and I have been doing them for 2 1/2 years. It is not at all uncommon to have many throw aways, unless you are a pro at it. Very nice. |

Interesting image. She certainly looks surprised. I almost think she is running from something and looking back to see her progress. |

Certainly can feel the cold and wind while looking at this image. Those crashing waves add so much texture. The person on the beach adds interest and draws you into the image. I like it very much in Black and White. I was on that beach last year and know the biting of the wind and ever-present rain make shots difficult. Nice image. |

I love this image. The lines and textures are superb. Reminds me a little of sand dunes shots. I'm curious where were you to get this birds eye view? Can't imagine there are any buildings in that kind of farm land that would give you that view. Don't know much about Palouse but will have to look it up. Nicely done! |

I gave that some thought but I ended up concerned that this was almost ALL sky. While that is the purpose of the shot I decided against. I wonder if I raised the shadow slider some to make the green more pronounced if you would feel differently.
I never thought about how beautiful the sky could be until I went to Africa. I used the sky as often as possible as a backdrop simply because of its glory. |

Beautiful colors, and I love sunrise! I've done the star effect while I was in Chamonix in 2017. The higher F stop and something in line of sight to hide it partially works well. I spent a great deal of time trying to get it right and finally had it! The hardest part is you also end up with very dark shadows which you managed to compensate for! As always beautiful shot Peter. |

What a sad state! Sorry that you are going through those fires. And particularly for those that have lost homes and property. It does make one wonder why someone would be setting fires, but our world is made up of all kinds of people and not all of them have the best interests of the common good high in their priority list.I would imagine there is also significant smell associated with all that smoke and anyone with compromised lungs must be having a difficult time. The photo is telling it like it is, which is pure recording of events. Hopefully you will be able to look back on this when the smoke clears and be glad you documented it. Stay safe! |

Janos I have wanted to do the Milky Way for a year or so, have not gotten up the nerve to try it! Bryce is a great place to do it since there is little light pollution. I like th composition, my only concern is the amount of graininess in the image. But I am not sure that it is possible not to have grain with that high ISO and long exposure. But that does not take away from the overall compassion of the shot, which is great! Sorry I was not here last month to welcome you! |

David this is really a beautiful image. The lights and reflections are beautiful. thinking through Ian's comment I think I might hesitate to crop it tighter. I really like those buildings outlined in lights. If I cropped it would be to those buildings. Very nice image regardless if you crop it or not! |
