Agree that the glasses are very distracting. Great character image and certainly is effective as a street portrait, if it were not for the glasses! I am not good at portraiture so I give you props fro trying though! |

Colorful and very different perspective, but I personally preferred last month's image. The image seems out of balance for me (primarily because of the crooked poles) and I can't seem to get over that. For sure it is crisp and clean and has great detail, but I would try some transform or other LR/PS function to make the poles straighter. |

I get what you are saying and I have a version that is cropped down, but I also like to see the environment in which that was taken. Many would not know that you can see them so close to land. I do agree with Richard that there could easily be some cropped off the bottom even if I left more on the top. Luckily I can have both. A 50 mb shot allows me freedom to do either, or both for that matter. |

Those red poppies POP right off the image. Didn't even notice the background until I reread your description. Nice and crisp. Great shot. |

Thanks Dave, it was a challenge with all the dynamics of movement. I was really surprised that it came out as good as it did. The water was also reflecting a lot of light and I had to really play around with the Exposure compensation minimizing the reflections as well as making sure the dolphins maintained detail. Luckily the babies were in one of the last pods we saw so I had plenty of practice. |

I love the symmetry of the two swans. I have seen many mute swans, and I think most people think of mute swans when they think swans. The orange beak breaks up that solid black and makes it less difficult to shoot. I do think the heads are a little soft (or it could be that the lower pixel format has impacted my ability to see detail). I do prefer the original that has less negative space and your eyes end up riveted to the swans. BTW the individual that drove up clearly has no birding etiquette, and his behavior was not very considerate. |

Very nice character study of this individual. and the black and white is a perfect choice. Interesting, it did not make me think of someone homeless, but rather an actor in a role. Which I suspect is pretty close to reality! |

Ian,
Thanks for that suggestion! I did just that and the improvement is remarkable! You have come a long way, my friend! |

I also belong to Group 23 and this past year I would tell you most of the comments about my images are I have too much extra dead space in them. The most frequent comment I get is to crop it down.......now having said that, there are some instances where cropping does increase the focus on the "subject" sometimes you really want the context of the background, sometimes you really want the context. Sometimes it has an artistic choice. And you are correct you do really like big sky! You have mentioned that before, and I should have remembered that. |

Thanks Ian. The Ferny ball thing is a Sabal Palmetto, I believe. Very common down here in South Florida. I like them because they are low to the ground but still make you think of tropical areas. I think I might go back and actually patch that sky so it is not so bright. That is probably the only sun we saw that day. While we did not get horrible storms from Dorian, we sure got lots of off and off stormy weather from the bands of Dorian. Were are into peak here so at least the next two months we will be hurricane ready at all times!
And I had this shot picked out before I saw what everyone else sent in! And if you notice even Tim's was taken from a boat! We just didn't see the water in his! |

Very beautiful image. The long exposure is perfect, smoothing everything out and still maintaining clarity on the rocks in the foreground and the mountains. Light is gorgeous.
You are clearly getting the best out of your 7200. They are pretty nice cameras! I've had a 7100 for quite a while as my cropped sensor body and just recently replaced it with the D500, which is awesome for birds in flight and shooting sports for my Granddaughters. |

OK, Peter do you give lessons? I would die for a shot this crisp and clean! All lines lead to that beautiful mountain. The reflection is remarkable, so perfect! And the lighting is just beautiful. Composition perfect for sure! Outstanding image! I would print and frame this one!
On Labor Day we were struggling with impending Hurricane Dorian, that really did little to Florida, but on the other hand destroyed the Bahamas. Mother Nature is fickle! But my heart goes out to all the Bahamians that lost everything. Hard to believe there is just 105 miles between South Florida and Bahamas. |

Love the dock coming out and the eddys acting as a leading lines into the horizon. The rocks in the foreground are great. The clouds are still pretty low hanging so not much of a sky to see. So I really love the composition, it was very thoughtful and ticks off all the buttons, but the shot is "soft". What I don't know is it because of the downsizing of the image or if you see it as soft at full size. Could there have been camera shake from shutter release/mirror slap or noise from the long exposure? Or is it just artifactual from downsizing? Not sure. Anyone else have thoughts? |

Yes, and I'm sorry to say, I had to downsize it. The site will not accept it as large as you sent it to me. All I did was import and export it from LR with the size requirements inserted.
The guidelines are:
Remember that the file size of your image(s) cannot exceed 1Mb and horizontal images should be at least 1024 pixels wide and vertical images at least 768 pixels tall. The site will display at different dimensions as necessary for the page design.
Not much choice since your final image was I believe around 14 Mb. So It is not as sharp, but I will attest to our your original being crisp and clear.
As for the image, it is actually quite lovely with the rocks in the foreground leading you into the water. and the boat (ship?) let's just say vessel, is unfortunately too small to make a point of interest. While the sky is gorgeous, some clouds would have added a nice touch to the image, but Mather nature gives us what she wants to on any given day...so unless you wish to switch out the background the only other option would be perhaps to crop about a third of the sky to just above the horizon clouds.
Lets see what others think....I am just trying to think of some options for you. |

Ok, so where do you come up with all the unusual and architecturally interesting buildings? I just don't have the eye to even pick up the beauty of these buildings to know to photograph them, guess that is why you are an architectural photographer. Are you also an architect by profession? Can't imagine that you do not have some in your background. I was recently in Miami and went to PAMM, the Science Museum and Miami Beach and as I looked at all those structures all I thought of was I wish I had your skills forlooking at buildings in that unique way! These are magnificent buildings and do indeed compliment each other. The lighting is special, gotta love golden hour. My one suggestion would be to crop out the messy bottom. Not sure it adds anything and just distracts. |

Love the location and I am sure some of the blurriness is a result of the substantial "downsizing" to get appropriate size for this photo, but the handheld and ISO might have impacted it as well. I also would have tried a higher F stop, but that then adds to the problem with no longer exposure ........and it is a never ending circle. I have walked away many times and wondered what I was thinking when I took a specific shot, but that's part of learning. The composition is excellent with the bridge and moon locations. as well as those mountains in the background. |
