Very nice Marilyn. The shot reminds me of the aspen images that I love with the repeating patterns. I've walked on that beach many times . It has changed so much with the introduction of casinos but I forgot how they used the posts to minimize sand dunes (or at least I think that is what they were doing). We used to spend the summers at the Jersey Shore in Sea Isle City when my girls were young, you brought back some good memories. |

Great memory for you and certainly a proud moment for him. Congrats on his completion of Med School. I am certain he will love to have that in his cherished mementos of his Graduation. Very clean and crisp shot! |

Tricolor heron chicks are so full of personality! We have lots of them in Wakodahatchee Wetlands in SOFL and they always provide great entertainment. You have captured their feisty spirit in the close up and it is crisp with tons of detail. I like it very much! |

My eyes went directly to the little girl, not until I read your description did I notice the bright sky on the left. But of course once I saw it that is where my eye continued to isolate. I do think Brian's crop isolates your grand daughter nicely so I would probably give up the details of the beautiful old building and crop to focus on her. I have been taking grand children photos for a couple of years now and they certainly can be challenging! Wait until they start playing sports and you try to get those shots - tough! |

Nice job!!! I've still not tried focus stacking and my Nikon does it automatically, so one of these days I am going to practice. I think it is a developed skill and you certainly did a great job of isolating and getting the hairs on the caterpillar well focused. Congrats! |

I am still struggling with Photoshop ....no matter what I do I struggle. I tend a couple of classes and they were terrible, since it is unrestricted you get folks who are various levels of expertise and many struggle with the platform Adobe is on, let alone Adobe. I have tried videos and I just don't learn well using various different "teachers". They are either too advanced or too basic. I would really love to get comfortable with masks!
Give you all props for trying! |

For sure what I did was less than complimentary, just wondered if it was from the reduction in size.......I'm not even sure you use Lightroom, but Camera Raw should be able to do this as well. |

Absolutely beautiful and straight buildings Tim. The colors are magnificent and the detail on the lefthand side building is incredible. And the early morning light just intensifies the beauty of the buildings. Probably my favorite photo you have shared.
I've never tried a tilt shift lens and had to look up its uses. It is really pretty interesting ....I am assuming you used this to keep the buildings upright. That instruction made me appreciate the shot even more! |

Brian, this is a lake and no sharks :-(. But plenty of gators. Birds are pretty much gone and the intense heat is alive and well in South Florida. So I am working on sunrises which are at the beach and there have been many shark sitings of late. So your idea is not so far from reality. On Captiva Island we frequently see dolphins and in reality I am not sure I would be able to distinguish a dolphin from a shark if the fins were all that was visible. So reality is "DON'T GO IN THE WATER" if there is any question.
I did one as a pano also , just submitted the one with the pretty pinks in the front. When I went back to pull off the pano, I realized this is actually a set of bracketed photos (3) that I then merged in Lightroom. It was very dark so I decided to try it (and since it is a lake and not the ocean no waves to contend with) so I would not blow out the sun getting the rest of the exposure right. I used Exposure bracketing ( 1/125,1/250. and 1/500) |

Beautiful shot Peter, what were your setting? The starbursts leads you right into the beautiful foreground Given the star burst you much have used a higher f-stop so I am curious. This is a beautiful area of the country! I keep adding to my list ....you have identified some beautiful areas on the west coast and represent their beauty effectively. Thanks for sharing! |

Facinating shot of an "underwater seascape". Underwater photography is challenging and very expensive to undertake if you are diving once you start adding up all the equipment. This is really a nice alternative. I like the aesthetics of it ....wonder if you tried increasing contrast/dehaze/clarity sliders to make the fish clearer? I tried it but it makes a weird vignette but this is a small jpeg so you might be able to try it on the original size to see if it makes it better. I really like the dehaze in LR in cases where I want to remove haze and clarify the shot |

Beautiful image. And like both the original and the edited version. both have their own merits. The original is crisp and clean with a beautiful sky, while the edited version has a little more subtleness to it, looking almost like an oil painting. :one the layers, brick wall and the gate ....very pastoral looking! Very nice image! |

I searched this image and can't find any "hatchet job"! Is this light part of the dock? Trying to figure out where it is actually located. In Maryland we have at lest two lights that are out in the Chesapeake Bay but they are on rocky outcroppings, which also happen to be great fishing spots.
But about the image, sunrise is always a great time to photograph and this is no exception! I like the light on one side (leading you directly to the sunrise) and balanced with the sun on the other. And the flag adds that Memorial Day touch! So grateful to all that have served. Nice image. |
